It took my wife a few seconds to catch the dust repellant joke haha. Enjoyed seeing Brady making you work for it haha. Congrats Brady on first. Awesome job Donnie
Exciting race Donnie! I have to say I am enjoying these race recaps. I got turned onto your channel as I am looking to possibly pick up a 250fx to go with my 300xc for racing out here in Colorado. But I found myself watching several of your videos and subscribing. Thanks for all the work put into these videos and keep them coming!
I enjoy your channel and I have the exact same bike, so the tech tips are great! You are inspiring me to run a harescramble next year and I have many questions.
Awesome looking loop, get off the seat and lean back in that sand and put the beans to it..she will float like a butterfly! Enjoy your videos, need to make my way down once it’s cold and snowy here in Colorado!!
I was wondering if that was Brady that passed you when you went down in the sand MX track on the unedited video I watched a few days ago. This is what makes these races so fun right here. Chasin guys like Brady close in the points down to the wire. Great race very entertaining to watch this race recap. I have the same issues as you do with reading the trail and missing hot lines. I get tunnel vision bad esp if im following someone.
I've been on a YZ250FX for 18 months or so now, about 150 hours total. Before this one I was on a 2021 YZ250FX. I also had a WR250F in the past. I shared some of my thoughts on the differences between the 2021 and the 2023 (there aren't many) in my 2023 first ride video. For suspension I always spring the bikes for my weight and get the valving softened up considerably at Fastlap Racing Suspension. I highly recommend Fastlap. Thanks for watching!
There's not much difference in the 21 and 23 as far as starting goes. My primary mods for quick starts are AG-801 battery, Rekluse Radius CX and lots of practice.
I was using map 1. I have the Keefer Hard Hitting map on map 1 and the Keefer Free Feeling map on map 2. I shared those at around 4 minutes in this video: th-cam.com/video/sB0nzTzLCuo/w-d-xo.html
Donnie, what is your camping/trailer setup for racing? It would be interesting to hear a racing veteran’s perspective and recommendations for anyone looking to start racing.
I don't have a camper, I prefer to travel light. For races that require overnight stays I typically leave my bike with someone camping at the race and go to a motel for the night. Getting a good night's sleep before a race is critical in my opinion and I don't typically sleep well when camping. Sleeping well and having a hot shower the morning of the race is well worth the expense for me.
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie makes a lot of sense. That’s probably what I will do also. At least at first until we figure out a direction. My son is riding some but not sure he will take to racing yet. For what these campers cost, you can certainly book a lot of hotels. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks David!
What a start! nice!!! Like the new camera/view that you are using. Here's to a great season in 2023!
Thanks! Good luck to you in 23 as well.
Amazing
Thank you for your always entertaining videos.
Thanks for watching!
Outstanding…That ride would be worthy of a “Paddy Cam”.’..See ya soon.
Great race all the way to the end!
Thanks Randall!

Thanks for watching! That’s awesome, you should definitely do it.
Great race Donnie. Its good when you get in a battle like that, helps push you along and keeps you focused. Good luck for the last round 👍🏻
That’s true, I think that’s the most sore I’ve been after a race. Thanks for watching!
Dust repellent, I like that one. Great vid 👍👍.
Thanks!
Great race! 2 seconds. Wow.
Just a couple of hot lines would have made the difference.
Love the grey plastics just did my YZ 450 with that color.
Epic race recap, and that looks like a really fun course
Thanks!
We also have a 2019 Yz250fx it’s been so good I don’t want to replace it also running a 2018 wr 450 that’s been amazing
Whoa!! Great racing drama! The end of the year race ought to be good!!
It’s too close for comfort! Thanks for watching!
Good Riding to All Brother,🤙💪😎💯
Thanks!

Very cool video.
Thanks for watching!
Great start dude.👍
Thanks Randy!
Dang Donnie that was an exciting video!! Good like in your last 2 races! Bradey is some tough competition.
Thanks Jim. Yeah, Brady is definitely making it interesting!
What size Beta is Brady riding? Really like my YZ250FX, but wouldn't mind adding a quieter bike to the fleet.
300RR
Hole shot with style
I used to hate race starts but I’m starting to like them.
Thanks for the recaps! What width are your bars?
Thanks for watching! 31”

Yeah, the tunnel vision is a bear. Thanks for watching!
Nice riding. The guy lined up beside you was on a WR Yamaha! Cool!
Yep, that’s Todd.
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie Does he have any TH-cam videos?
@@flashdrz I don’t he think he does unfortunately.
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie Thanks.
Looking forward to your impressions of the yz250fx after some time in the seat.
Also interested in details of your suspension mods.

What's your mods for getting such a fast startup or do the 23's just start faster than the 21's?
There's not much difference in the 21 and 23 as far as starting goes. My primary mods for quick starts are AG-801 battery, Rekluse Radius CX and lots of practice.
Were using map 2 or map1. Also are you running stock maps or which ones are you using?
I was using map 1. I have the Keefer Hard Hitting map on map 1 and the Keefer Free Feeling map on map 2. I shared those at around 4 minutes in this video: th-cam.com/video/sB0nzTzLCuo/w-d-xo.html

Soo no one gonna talk about how he never used the clutch to take off? What kind of witchcraft is this??
Rekluse Radius CX
Does Bradey have a TH-cam? Be good to see it from his perspective
No, I don’t think he does. Would be cool. Maybe I’ll put a camera on him at the last race.
