That Ole gal is awesome Detroit rules rolling coal shifting gears screaming down the road !!! Awesome morning brother from another country another awesome adventure as always 😂
It's amazing how you can tell the sound of a 6-71 they have a sound all their own within the Detroit series of engines. Thanks for the upload Stevo and keeping the dream alive.
Hi mate thanks. Yeah, I probably don’t need anymore work but they are more than welcome to be added to the end of the lineup here. I’d like to hopefully one day do a full time TH-cam thing and be able to play with or restore some of this stuff. Just a dream at this stage though 😂😂
Glad to see you are still driving on the correct side of the road, This leaves your sword arm free to defend against ruffiains coming in the opposite direction, as origionally intended. I'm keen to see the Austin on the move, as this was my first drive back in the 60's. Not strictly legal, as I was a passenger in a 5 ton flatbed loaded with fruit and veg, on route from Southampton to Brighton Market, and was asked, "do you want to have a go". I made a right muck up of it. Changing a crash box and nearly rolling it on roundabouts, has made it stick in my memory. Great channel. Keep it up. ..
Hi mate thanks for watching. Yes we drive on the right here. I will give her a start up soon mate. I dropped it off and haven’t been back near it since. It’s a petrol engine in that one. Good memories mate, even though they probably weren’t at the time🤣. Thanks again for watching and stay tuned for plenty more
Awesome adventure as always !!! 2 great additions to your collection !!!! Sad about the loss of footage !!!! But it's all good !!! Always able to get new footage !!!! No worries brother !!!! Enjoy every video so far !!!! It's always an adventure to explore other enthusiasts adventures and have fun with brothers and sisters all over the world !!! Hope yall have an awesome day !!!!
Hi mate yes it sure is. Have you told me about your channel before Peter? I’m sorry if you have, I get a lot of comments. I’d be interested in having a look
Hi Stuart yes it is mate. I know of another one where I got this one and there are still a few around behind sheds and in paddocks, still some going to shows as well. Not a real popular choice for Aussie truck enthusiasts I don’t think? Just from what I’ve seen but still worth having mate
The old Austin could have started its life with Yellow Express, the NSW Government Railways or Mains,Water ,Sewerage and Drainage NSW ( Sydney Water ). I remember seeing these back in the mid sixties . The green colour is similar to the Government Green of the day. And you can see yellow bleeding through inside cab. If the place where you picked up the trailer is at Wallacia . There used to be a place used to be Bullens African Safaris back in the day and there was one also in BeenLeigh,Queensland. Love your work the Vlog you put out on old trucks
Hi Neil yes mate you may well be right. I actually picked it up for my mate many years ago in Dubbo, and brought it back to Wallacia so it may be ex government. That’s where I was mate at the old grounds of the lion safari. All that old stuff I was showing was Bullens circus. My mate that was driving the little loader lives there in the old kiosk for the old park which is now a house. Thanks for your support mate
Good on ya mate ! Just got up on a late autumn sunday to take a ride in your White through some beautiful Australian countryside with the sound of a Detroit diesel ! Nothing better , I have never seen an Austin truck before ! That will be a new adventure when you give it proper look over . Thanks mate 🌵
Hi mate. Yes it’s only a short run but still good to give her a go. There were a lot of Austin truck’s around here years ago I believe and still a few getting around now. I won’t be restoring it but will do a first start on it and see what happens from there. Thanks for your support mate it certainly helps
I can remember when I sat on the passenger seat with me old man driving 😄 and I can also remember my boys sat on the passenger seat while I was driving ! Great video it brought back a lot of memories for me Steve, thanks mate 👍. I been watching your lads and lassie’s win the RL World Cup two great teams and although I’m a red blooded Pom , I shouted the Aussie teams on 👍 Waiting for the next vid Steve 👍
It’s hard not to mate to be honest 😅😅. Yes mate check them out. Don’t let my amateur camera work turn you off. I’ve upgraded my equipment in the latest one so should be better from here in. Thanks for the support
I believe so mate. My uncle used to have one on timber and there’s actually one where I picked these up from. It was part of the travelling circus carting whatever the needed to. I will see if I can get a video of it before it’s scrapped. From memory it’s too far gone for me to do anything with
I don’t know which would be harder for me, driving on the left or learning to shift with my left hand. The combination of the two would make me dangerous I’m sure!
Hi mate, I think the same when I watch you blokes drive over there and in the other lane also😂😂😂. . I think it’s what you learn and get used to. Great stuff mate thanks for watching
I live Arizona , i have been down a few times . I didn't have so much trouble driving on the left as I did shifting manual car with my left hand . Using my left foot for the clutch and my left hand for gear changes felt little strange at first. Then when you realize that the gear pattern is the same as ours it gets more confusing . To push the lever away for the lower gears took some practice for me. Then the turn indicator . That operates with your right hand , wipers on the left . Turned on the wipers many times on a sunny day in Sydney my first trip . 🌵
Yes I understand how it would be confusing. It’s just what your used to and ends up being something that’s natural and you don’t think about it. I’d be the Same
Hi Steve, boy the countryside you are travelling through sure looks lush and green. Here in Narangba (40ks north of the Brisbane River) the land is very dry and barren. Still enjoying your videos.
Hi Neville, yes mate it is but it looks greener on the camera than it is. It’s still nice and green but it is starting to dry out again. It’s sad that some places are experiencing flooding and we are in the dry now. Wasn’t long ago we were flooded in here on the Nepean river. Thanks for your support mate
Gday Neil yes mate I wasn’t happy. It was a good episode, a cab ride and a first start but I need to move on. I will do a start on them both soon enough. The Austin hasn’t gone far many many years so that will be interesting.
It’s a 15 speed overdrive. Overdrive pattern has 4th and 5th switched around, so from 3rd you go around the gate for 4th and straight up for 5th in all 3 ranges. I was only using 10, but there is 5 lower in deep reduction which is selected on an air switch on the dash.
Hi mate thanks. Yes a 15 speed overdrive. I was actually going to use one of the Kenworth trucks so the viewers could listen to one of this v8 Jimmies but I had to move either the white or a tractor so I just used the White. It will happen mate
Another good vid mate keep it up the subs are steadily rising, I’ve made a few videos aswell which have been pretty popular so far, I also opted for the down under part in the name it makes us blokes easy to spot out in the sea of American content 😂
Hi mate thanks yes I’m fairly happy with how they are going. Some days are better than others. I think my shaky video at times turns people off but that’s how it is. I just got my gimbal working so I will see if that helps. I will check yours out mate I wasn’t aware of it. It was originally just Steve’s Place but found there was another one called that, so my partner added the Downunder to it and I couldn’t be happier for that exact reason your saying. I really like the American blokes though, it’s really where my idea of this journey came from😂.
@@stevesplacedownunder ah well can’t help it’s shaky it’s abit hard when your trying to do somthing you need 2 hands for and you’ve got a camera in one hand, the gimbal will Definitely help. Yes mate I know but I’m trying 😅. I can’t believe how many people on here criticise free entertainment. Most of my viewers are from there aswell which is good. Most stuff I watch is those blokes. I haven’t come across many Aussie channels playing with stuff similar to the American channels

Last time I opened the door years ago the throttle pedal had fallen through the floor. I might see about doing a start up of it before it disappears. I will keep an eye out for your book mate😂
The white will do the same job as any present day truck won't need to be nursemaided off road like a present day truck with Hendrickson suspension will go any place
That’s her uncle. I give you a shoutout in the next episode actually mate because I briefly mention the old girl and show the bonnet with the road runner
Yes mate he was. H was pushing scrapers and ripping. Dick is his name. He remembers you. He’s still there as well with me. He did a few days on and off in the bush trucks as well that Alby was loading at the tip that went across to the quarry. He started in 2000 and I was 2001
Love watching someone who can actually drive a multi range gearbox , without smashing every gear, I’ve missed the episode which details the running gear , but I’m guessing by the sounds that engine is making that it’s a Detroit?❤️🦘🦘🦘
Hi mate thanks for watching. I take pride in changing gears. People say that driving a Detroit you can change as fast as you want but that’s not the case. You still have to take your time and make it nice. When they are smashed in they have to go in, but it’s not right. It’s an inline 671n with a 15 speed overdrive transmission
