    Great Video. I just got the TSR2 in February and love it. The tightest dispersion I have ever had with a driver. I have it on the B3 setting with the 10 degree head, and Hzrdus Red CB shaft, stiff 50 g 6.0 shaft. Obviously you posted the best numbers you had with the TSR driver, how did the GT feel compared to the TSR? Loved the video though. Yes fittings are important.

    • @scotthogangolf

      The TSR2 is a really good driver, they feel and look very similar, and I think I cut it out, but we did talk about how TItleist's goal is for their drivers to look and feel the same from year to year, then people just enjoy the benefits of the new technology. I thought that was true, but my biggest thing was when I had mishits (and there was a lot) I just didn't see the ball speed drop or spin increase (misses were bottom heel usually) like I expected.

    The gains strike me as coming off a misfit Cobra LTDx rather than a huge gain by going to Titileist GT models from a properly fit driver.

    • @scotthogangolf

      That's part of getting fit and getting into a better driver, one that helps you find the middle more, but also plenty of the shots with the GT were mishit (I made sure to say it) and the ball speed on mishit shots was still 3 mph faster on average and spin was down a couple hundred rpms on those mishits from the other driver.

      100% fitting is important, I see it every day with our awesome fitters at Mistwood, they get people some great results. I don't think it made the cut, but at the start of hitting the GT3, it felt different and I almost was just trying to get it out of my hands. I think I had the thought going in that I was going to be in GT2, but then after hitting it a few times then going back and forth, I really started to like the weight on the bottom. While I wait for mine to come, I've been back on my Cobra and it's been bugging me not having the extra weight now lol.

    It was not the new driver head per se, that gave the increase in distance, it was the whole fitting process, probably more to do with the shaft.

    • @scotthogangolf

      It was both, I had basically the same setup, in the TSR2 and the ball speed went up from 160ish to 163. What also people aren't realizing is that the head can change how you deliver. I'll talk more about it later but there are design features that caused some of the improvement in delivery numbers. And yes a very low spinning shaft for me as well helps.

    Good fitting. My only problem with trying all 3 models is that first you hit your gamer, then you hit the Titleist, then you've got to narrow down shaft, then loft and surefit and with the GT3 possibly the weight. By the end, that's a lot of balls hit and fatigue comes into play.

    • @scotthogangolf

      It can, my speed stayed consistent throughout, also had a lot of fluids during this and made sure to take breaks. Anyone going for a fitting will hit a lot of swings. But it was about 80 total. I'm used to hitting a lot more shots than that.

  • @randallpennington5976

    I only wish I could get fitted like this! I have to drive over 2 hours just to go to a Dick’s for any kind of fitting, which is mostly a waste of time! As a lefty I’m basically screwed on options. I will keep my current clubs until I have to get a softer flex !

    • @scotthogangolf

      Yea club companies don't provide as many fitting options to lefty's, but we get all of them at our facility and there are still some good ones. I do think avoiding the big box stores is a good plan as well. Best thing to do is get on the manufacturer websites and look for events they are putting on (we actually have one at our course today) where you can get fit by them (usually for free!) and they bring all of their options.

  • @StanforddeJong

    2.23 - "We believe that the head is the most important component of the club." This is an interesting comment when you consider the variability in flex, torsion, and twist of every shaft attached to that head! #personalthought

    • @schapediddly

      The main contribution a shaft makes to a golf club is weight... People overhype shafts. The head is infinitely more important than the shaft. When people find a shaft that they swing well, it's 90% the weight that they are timing properly.

    • @scotthogangolf

      The head gets you into the right neighborhood. When I hit the different heads, one of them was just a no-go for me personally (still a great club) but based on what I like to see and need it wasn't hitting those windows so I only hit it a few times. But once there, the shaft is going to make little tweaks to really dial in the feel and the numbers needed for the golf club. Part of it can be weight, but a lot of times it's going to be if I have a certain torque it's easier to turn it over or keep the face open, or there are certain shafts with the same weight/flex but completely different bend profiles that feel and produce different results. That was my main goal of this video to show that it is definitely worth going to get fit and get the opportunity to try some different options that are out there.

  • @schapediddly

    One thing all of these "I GAINED XX NUMBER OF YARDS FROM A NEW DRIVER" have in common is their previous driver didnt fit them well. Its not that this driver is sooo fast or whatever these manufacturers want you to think, you just are spinning it less. 2800 to 2000 will gain anyone a decent chunk of distance, but you could have gained that distance with any brand out there, with their old or new drivers. This is all ignoring the fact that he lowered your spin with lower loft, which also will gain you ball speed. If more people understood how all this works, they wouldnt get so hyped on this stuff...

    • @scotthogangolf

      Without responding to all of this, I'll just say, he went up in loft 1.75 degrees and lowered spin. So you are not correct.

    • @schapediddly

      @@scotthogangolf Not according to the video, but lets even say that's true for arguments sake, you were hitting down on your cobra and up on the Titleist, a difference of just under 2 degrees. Also, you had an average 6° open face with your cobra, and a basically square face with the Titleist. Square face and more up will both equate to more club speed and less spin, which obviously result in more distance. Let's quit pretending new drivers are any faster. The answer is always in the numbers, whether that be the club spec numbers or swing numbers.
