For the removal process, try buffing off the top coat so the seal can be broken for acetone to work more effectively. It'll be much easier for the product to break down.
Thanks, Tien! Yes, we did file off the top but the process still was very long. But probably that's because I used several layers of top coat and maybe didn't break all the seals 🤔
tien pang so the dip is an actual color base ? So repurchase a colored dip anytime u want to new color ? N all u need is a base n top coat gel n activator .
Hi Anastasia, I am a nail tech and I use dip powders. I found that a no wipe gel top coat works great and holds it's shine on these nails. Also for removal I file most of the product off first and soak off the rest comes off great.
Christi Coleman love the gel top coat but I have tried everything, no buff, etc. Still get some kind of peeling, so annoying. I have used Gelish. Gelaze seems a bit better.
I soak my nails for about 30 minutes with a cotton ball and foil and the dip slides right off. The longer it is left on, the longer you have to soak them.
Nice but, wouldn't dipping into the same jar be equivalent to brushing the powder off the finger into the jar? If hands were washed properly I don't see a problem either way.
The soak off method given to me by my salon involves putting your acetone wrapped nails into a sandwich baggie then placing an "ice bag" filled with very warm water (she let's me get it as hot as I want) on top of your hand for 10 to 15 mins. The treatment always comes off in one piece cleanly with no filing required.
I bought this brand recently. It was pretty good. I found the activator took awhile to harden though. And also when I dipped it took a couple of minutes to dry between dips. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I don’t like the brushes. Going to try wiping it onto a gel brush, especially for the base coat. I loved your application. The end result was perfect 👍
I had the same problem. I googled it and your supposed to do activator after buffing and then add top coat. The video didn’t mention that. Still a great tutorial and I learned a Lot. Oh and once I realized my mistake, I simply buffed off the top coat, added activator and then top coat and Looks amazing
Hi Anastasia, thank you for this video. I've been trying my dip system for 2 months and I observed the same problem - not enough shine. Had to coat it two times with a top coat. What I also have noticed is that they are super hard but easily to crack also... Wondering if I'm doing sth wrong or it is just characteric for this product.
Every dip system I've used suggests applying the applicator (usually #3) after filing, let it sit for a whole minute, then rub it in with a lint free cloth and THEN apply top coat. And very sparingly, like wipe most of the top coat off in the bottle and do as few strokes as possible. Wait 3 minutes(I know🙄) and apply second coat. We have to undo everything we know about applying top coat, it was really hard and I gave up at first and just used gel top coat, but with practice and patience I got it! I couldn't find much that really helped with this issue when I started so I hope this helps!
I dip mine right in the jar. I have mentioned this to all clients and all of the laugh and say good grief. I will continue to ask and see how all of them feel.
Tfs. I like the dipping system for my daughter. She's 12 (yes, I know there will be critics galore about the age), and she is afraid of the UV lamp and won't go near it. She wants acrylics like Momma has, but has ADHD and can't sit still. I feel that she's too young to sit still for an acrylic set, and her nails are extremely tiny. So, an acrylic dip has no fumes, no UV lamp, and I can get one hand done quickly enough to where I'm not having a nervous breakdown. Granted she insists on touching everything in front of her. Lol
Oh, and she's a nail biter and picks at her nails. This dipping system keeps her from biting her nails (she thinks it takes too long to get the fingernail clippers). And she's had her "nails" on for two weeks now without any lifting, and she hasn't stuck her fingers near her mouth since I did her nails.
Let haters be haters, i was about 12 when i started experimenting with polishes to help me stop biting my nails, seems you found something that works for your daughter.
Christina, thank you for sharing this story, that's awesome. And it makes sense. The product is hard and very fast to apply. So it might be helpful for nail biters, especially teenagers. Did it last long enough to do the refill?
Yes, I had to do a refill this past Friday. She had a very small amount of lifting, and she started picking at it. She had a classmate who scared her by telling her that if the acrylic started to lift that it would pull her fingernail off and she should have all her acrylic removed immediately. I explained to her that that would not happen, but that she shouldn't pick at any areas that are lifting. My challenge on the refill was trying to gently push back her cuticle and gently trying to rebalance/file her nails. She's the only person that I have who freaks out at a cuticle pusher and hand file. Lol. I didn't even try to bring out the e-file; she would have had a heart attack.
I just started this last week and my problem is with the brushes getting clogged. I use the brush cleaner overtime. I also noticed that the Activator brush separates into 2 and no matter what you do it stays that way, this isn't a problem its just a little strange. The nails I did today were great except for the cuticle area.....I got a little close!
Brenda, yes, it is really hard to apply is too close to the cuticle and keep the line perfect. Gelish have special brush cleaner liquid , but bristles still stays separated after using it
Common problem with most dip base. I bought a gelish and only use it 3 times and it is thick. I also put it into a hot warmer and it is better but application is bad. I try SNS base too. Same thing. Until I try Nugenesis dip base. It goes on nicely and evenly. I mix and match dip brands powder.
we tried this system in the salon but 2 of my coworkers said that they have a strange feeling in nails like bonding which caused them pain during the wear of the dip system. For me personaly it was ok.
Selina Verbeek I think that could work! Lots of people will use a gel top coat for more shine, so I don’t see why you couldn’t use actual gel colors over this. Also it’s essentially just acrylic in a different form, and gel is always used over traditional acrylic anyway! The powders come in clear or natural pink colors so you could use one of those.
Ariel Nicole I use Max Estrada’s ecoutour gel top coat. It’s called ShinyE and has a gummy rubber feel and won’t crack. I know other brands do crack but I’ve had luck with Max’s products.
Trudy Edwards Too dangerous since she already buffed the natural nail meaning it will adhere not peel. Peeling it off in her case would pull delicate layers of the nail.
😞 I need to do my own nails. I went to a salon to have some broken nails fixed and now that I am watching your video, it wasn't a sanitary place and they did a crappy job. Thank goodness I was able to straighten out the filing without losing the length. It would suck to have gotten nail tips that actually ended up shorter than my other natural nails. I watch a ton of nail videos, I have a nail design channel myself, but I don't do tips or sculpting, anyway everyone that I watch on TH-cam is amazing yet the salons in my area suck. I just want to say have you ever watched a nail video in your life. Half the time I could have done a better job. I am glad you added how to remove the dip powder since eventually I will need to do that.
This is not a gel product. It is like acrylic. The activator step is like the monomer, the base coat is just glue that holds the powder on until you apply your activator.
@@myruffleddreams1906 And I've found, today, that the base coat is so thick (I'm using Gelish), that's it's hard to get a thin coat of it on my nails. And sometimes, it strings out like it has threads in it, due to the thickness. Any advice is appreciated!
The instructions say to use 2 coats of top coat. Also, it doesn’t say to use a file it says to only use the buffer. As for removal I’ve had no problems but you have to make sure to buff through the top coat layer that way the acetone can soak into the acrylic. Then they slide right off.
I tumbled upon a problem is that the top coat looks patchy, removing takes a lot of time. I file and soak for 30 minutes just to remove it completely. I’m not a big fan of dip, only have it in service because of the demand for it.
why are u throwing powder 1/2 over the container and 1/2 on ur hand? slow down, not so sloppy. ur wasting product. i dont like dips because u cant pinch but the color is perfect.
The camera was right above, so I had to hold the hand completely flat ( And yes, you can't pinch them, so I don't like how it looks when the nails are wide

Erica, interesting, where are you from? We don't have any law that says that we must wear gloves, but most nail technicians do as they have contact with products and "filing leftovers" during the day. I personally don't like working without gloves for simple reason - I easily catch viruses from other people, sometimes after a handshake. Also some of my colleagues are allergic to nail dust, so they use gloves to protect their skin from it

With the gelish system after filing I thought you’re supposed to add another coat of activator and wipe off excess then do top coats?
Befor you aplly the top coat you need to aplly activator again after filing the nails

I just completed one hand. Had to do 2 layers of top coat. There are really weird dry/matte looking patches. Wonder what I did wrong?

Gelish Light Elegant.
What is the brand and color you used? I love it!
I am using NSI Simplicité PolyDip. Because it's gel-based it is soakable. With this acrylic dipsystem I have no problems at all to remove it.
such a clean and perfect application!

Aleksandra, I haven't experienced any cracks yet.
And I am going to try Erica's advice for the top coat next time!

You achieved a thin application with minimal filing 🙏🏽 A+ from me
Thank you!
So you have to use the uv lamp?
You did not apply activator before top coat, is it necessary to apply activator before top or not?

Brenda Timmerman Ive read somewhere that someone said to leave a space between the cuticle so you don’t get too close.

Hm.. interesting, Thanks for sharing
The nail bed was probably over filed.
It's likely due to the fact that the resin heats up as it cures the acrylic powder.
Is this the light or dark pink?
Q: could you use this just for strenghts and put gelpolish or colour gel on top in stead of the top coat?

Trudy Edwards
Too dangerous since she already buffed the natural nail meaning it will adhere not peel. Peeling it off in her case would pull delicate layers of the nail.
Trudy, I haven't tried it. My clients usually want all products to stay :)
I tried to use it with UNT peel of base coat to avoid buffing my natural nails and the product peeled of by itself the next day.
I used 2 different peel off base coats to test this out. Both removed the entire dip within 16 hours (nice clean removal, though! Haha)

It's unsanitary. According to many health regulations, the powder must be sprinkled on or poured over a small jar and not reused.
