Already off to a nice start, by sticking with just Mario or Mario adjacent games. That's been my biggest issue with Mario in general, for a while now. For as long as it's been around, and all the different subseries that have originated from Mario's world, I think it's blasphemous we've never seen a roster that properly brings this whole, wonderful universe together. Keep in mind, that's not to say I completely HATE the idea of guest characters, it's moreso just I feel like Mario is already big enough as it is, that it doesn't really need to go full crossover, to have an exciting lineup of characters. I'll definitely be looking forward to the next couple updates.
I totally agree. Its frustrating to me when they take out characters like Diddy and Funky and replace them with characters like the Inklings and Villagers. Like you said, its not inherently a bad thing that third-party characters are included, but it sucks that it comes at the cost of other characters. Crazy to be in Nintendo's shoes and be like "We have a diverse pool of in-universe characters to choose from, so let's add Kirby instead." Like HUH??
@@shottyflo For real, it's not like including less familiar characters would cause fans to complain and sales to flop, anyways. As for who I hope to see get added, it would be literally anyone from any of the RPGs. These games are no doubt my favorite part of the whole franchise, and yet they seem to have gotten the worst treatment, sadly. Seven Stars goes year after year without acknowledgement, the Paper Mario series has undergone a massive shift in tone and character variety, and the Mario and Luigi series has its 20th anniversary this year, but with their developers having gone bankrupt, we don't even know if there will be a reason for celebration. And this especially sucks, because these games have some of the most beloved characters in the entire Mario fandom. Fawful, Cackletta, Starlow, Antasma, Dimentio, literally any of the old Paper Mario partners, Geno and Mallow, if Square was willing to play ball...any one of those characters would make for fantastic additions to any roster.
@@nicksullivan1354 I'll admit that I mostly overlooked those characters, mainly because of an unwritten criteria (but more of a bias) favoring characters that fit the Mario Kart art style, i.e. stylized 3D models. But as mentioned in the video, DK Jr. has a clean 2D sprite rendition in Tour and they've even got Paper Mario as a driver too so I won't rule the rest of them out. I wouldn't be surprised to see Paper Mario debut in the next main line game tbh.
I love how I was so down and disappointed about how the RPGs have been treated at the start of the year, and now we've gotten the news that 2 of their best games got remakes announced within a few months of each other.
I feel like they should've both been in there, since Cranky is canonically the Donkey Kong from the arcade version and Pauline is the damsel in distress in said game.
I think the drivers should be… ok so I’m thinking of just 7 random drivers that I think will be a good addition. 1. Diddy Kong. 2. Palene 3. Crappy. 4. Hammer bro. 5. Nabit. 6. King bob-omb. 7. Gooigi. And that’s all!
Two characters I've always wanted to see playable in Mario Kart: Phanto and Tri-Clyde. Phanto would just hover over the seating area and the wheel/handlebar would turn by magic. Tri-Clyde would stick his middle head straight up and use it like a traditional head, while his left and right heads would be used as hands to grip the wheel/handlebar.
