    Isn’t funny when it comes to time to work on a boat no friends can be found, but when time to go fishing there is not enough room for all of them lol.

    • @336outdoors9
      @336outdoors9 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Buckwild 65 Amen! Run into this problem every time I go to the lake. It’s like my boat has a silent alarm on it for when I pull it out of the building every friend can sense that I’m headed out. But like you said if I’m working on the boat or cleaning it out they are no place to be found. But when it’s time to fish they are almost lined up wanting to go. Not to mention most of the time they don’t even offer to pitch in on gas for the truck and boat. That crap ain’t cheap. Then when all the fish is caught and the fun part is over and it comes time to clean the fish they hurry up and have to leave or be somewhere by a certain time lmao. Then again when it’s fish fry time guess who is standing there with a plate ready to eat lol 😂

    ive only got a 2 car garage and im constantly doing projects like what you are doing. every time im just like you. me and all my friends. mr welder, plazma cutter cherry picker hammer lol. i was forcefully retired by the va at 40 so i do it 10 hours a day. the neighbors come home every day and just assume fairies and magic dust did all the work. peeps have no idea how long it takes to do this stuff. example, it took me 45 hours to scrape prep prime and paint a cowling for a 225 yamaha. great video

    It reminds me of the first time I walked into a Cabela’s store. Outside the front door was a johnboat that had plenty of room for 12 people and gear. 😳

    Pretty sure the trailer had 2 axles.

    That’s one huge jon boat! You could use that as a barge lol! I could load my truck onto that sucker! I like how it turned out... I would load it down with rod holders and make 1 heck of a striper/catfish rig out of her! Now being you have the welding skills build you a nice aluminum bait tank/live well to sit in the middle of the boat to where you can load and unload it when ever you need it.

    Very good design and work procedure and workmanship. Since I am used to open seas and prefer my boat to have some deadrise in its framing, I see this flat boat as somewhat a little uncomfortable in open waters and it should be restricted to inshore work. Now that it has been widened substantially well, one would have to keep an eye on the flexing at the central areas of the hull. Also I prefer boats to have a strong anti-twist construction and while the front and rear seat does provide some antitwisting components, along the hull, it is the bottom floors which would provide it once they are anchored at the diagonals.
    A man who knows when to use rivets rather than welding, is a good man.

    • @CAPTAINWILLY
      @CAPTAINWILLY  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carmel Pule' yes. There is some flex even after the floor. But this is a river boat. I dont even take it in the bays and seldomly a large lake. Yes it beats the hell out if you. In even the slightest chop. But i can jam way into the creeks for smallmouth. Thankypu for the comment. Dont forget to sub and share. ;)

    • @CAPTAINWILLY
      @CAPTAINWILLY  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We call them outboard jet pumps. Pros.. Nothing hangs below the bottom of the boat. Can run in the puddles. Cons... Fuel economy is out the window. My 75 gets about 2 mpg. Also there is a 30% loss in power due to direct drive. A standard prop is like 3 to 1 er so.

    I'd love to do this to my 1648 mod v bowfishing boat. It would help a lot with all the weight in the boat. Also, I think if you added a rib in the center, it would help your turning, but I understand you don't want to put more holes in the boat.

    • @CAPTAINWILLY

      lance henthorn . i used 3/16 di. By 1/2 length. Got them from my local harware store. They had to order them. 40$ for 500. No center rib only because i wanted less holes. Had plan to add it latter if needed. Still have it. Thankyou for your comment. Please share on your social media for me. Subscribe for meore videos!.

      If it was there you would call it a keel.

    How does the boat ride now that its wider? How is it with the console way upfront like that? I like it a lot. Good work!

      Booker Fritz. Boat rides way better. Only in the water 1.5in at rest. Crazy stable. Turning is a little more sluggish but not a big deal. The helm being up front is just personal preference. I like it out of the way. Not a big fan of tiller. And with 350lbs of engine i needed the weight up front. Thanks for the comment dont forget to sub and share

    I would ask how you did that but I have the Slightest on welding aluminum

    • @CAPTAINWILLY
      @CAPTAINWILLY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have welded the whole project but due to the thickness of material there is too much flex and ot would crack. If the boat was made of thicker material totally could have welded it

    Im not sure if this was ask but what kind of welding did you do being that its an aluminum boat and everyone seems to to not have knowledge of how to weld an aluminum boat as far as sealing holes and cracks is doing something like seams cracks and holes as easy as making the boat wider? hope it makes sense

      Aluminum spool gun on a mig welder. It can also be done with tig welders and stick but stick welding aluminum is hard to do.
