Awesome! grew up in Australia and watched MacGyver, Then moved to Canada. Years later, I met Richard Dean Anderson in person at a Comic Con in Toronto. Great guy!
@@DedicatedSpartan generally pulled them apart for something, I don't have a perfect memory, and haven't seen it all right through, but iirc he has only ever "used" a gun once, and probably only to threaten, or against a hard target or structural support, one time he pulled the gunpowder out of the bullet/ cartridge though, I DO remember THAT.
Watched this growing up as a kid, always enjoyed it. Now my 9 year old son is enjoying re-runs being played on 41-4 in Tulsa.. Thanks for posting, will have to show him this one.

I really think if they would had made the new MacGyver series with RDA as the head of the Phoenix Foundation and his son on the series doing all the assignments and keeping it family friendly like the original MacGyver was that it would had been a huge hit. Not sure why they had to do a reboot instead of picking up the series where it left off.
They did the new series advanced and team effort like and less movie like. That's what people don't like about it is that it doesn't have drama and side stories only a crime series. But i can tell you many enjoys it.
Once I was explaining something to a teenage employee and referred to "MacGyvering" something to make it work. A moment later I realized that she had no idea what I meant, but she acted like she did to be nice. I asked her if she knew what it meant, she said no, then I had to explain the whole show to her lol.

I actually like the Lucas Till reboot, but saw an article where he said that Peter Lenkov bullied him about his physique and legs and he hated his guts.
What's awesome about this show is I hear kids saying "I'll just Macgyver it." and have no idea what it means or where it comes from, but that phrase is now apart of the American English Lexicon.

Bring Back the real MacGyver! Met him when i lived in Dublin Ireland and is a legend in person as is on screen as a person.. doesn't know much of the tricks him self but no better person to play the role than Richard! I could SOOO see this continued today where MacGyver Senior plays as the mentor to MacGyver Junior where he, every now and then, shows his daughter that he's still got it as she grows in character and skill to be as good as the original. RDA is the ONLY MacGyver. He created the character [Mac was based a lot on RDA's own likes & dislikes] and he OWNS it! The "buddy" show they now call MacGyver doesn't deserve the name!
How Richard Dean Anderson brought back our original MacGyver for this MacGyver special was awesome. And to include the original MacGyver intro was so awesome, amazing and wonderful. Like MacGyver hasn't changed one bit since the original MacGyver series cancellation. If anyone can bring back our original MacGyver hero it's Richard Dean Anderson who still has it today.
Agree - though it could also have been awesome if it had been 'MacGuyver junior' instead and then have the son may have learned a lot from his father (perhaps even have RDA as a consultant, advisor and or similar (a father/son team in come episodes could have been awesome . even if the son would likely have had to do the hardest jobs (he is getting fairly old now so which does give some limitations in how far to push ones body..))).. and also used the big aspects. The educational side to it, the principles (an essential pacifist good at making bombs+++++), the charm.. essentially everything that was 'MacGuyver' seems to be wrong in the new series. .. Which well.. If I wanted to watch leverage 2.0 I'd rewatch the series (or find others with similar concepts.. instead of.. that). ...I think the new series could have done better with another name.. would not be all too surprised if the new series is canceled due to low ratings sooner or later. On the other hand the video was absolutely awesome though RDA's still got it :D

Mac's son Sean was born from a relationship he had right after college before the start of the original series in 1985. He was already an adult when he met Mac in the final episode so he would be middle aged by the time of this video and it wouldn't have worked. There is no reason why Mac couldn't have found a new love and had a daughter after the series ended in 1992. Sean can be off living his own life while his sister is helping her dad.

Old comment, but a reboot is not subject to royalties to the original creator. A spinoff or continuation is. Perhaps it was about the money.

My whole career in Industrial maintenance is based on Macgyver. Unfortunately RDA is better looking.
