  • in this video, haruka and i take a day trip to kyoto to visit the famous fushimi inari taisha! known for its thousands of vermilion torī gates, the shrine, dedicated to the shinto god, inari, stretched all the way to the peak of mount inari.
we only walked about a third of the trail, considering it's a three hour hike up and down the mountain, but we were short on time and wanted to see other famous sights in kyoto. what we were able to see was nothing short of amazing though.
from kobe, in total, it was about an hour ride to osaka-umeda station, and then on over to kyoto station. depending on where your travels take you, spending about ¥700 for an all day bus pass is recommended, as you'll be able to save lots on transportation costs, and ultimately be able to see more parts of the city.
from there, we took the bus and got to the surrounding area by the shrine, where there were plenty of shops to find all kinds of trinkets, food, clothing, and souvenirs to buy. the street narrowed and we soon found ourselves at the main plaza of the shrine.
we paid our respects, and i was even able to get another goshuin stamps for my goshuincho! we then made our way to the beginning of the trail, marveling at the towering torī gates standing before us. we walked through senbon torī, past a plethora of smaller shrines, and even got to a point where we could see the entirety of kyoto from the mountainside.
we didn't walk all the way to the top due to the limited time we had, but all in all, fushimi inari taisha is definitely a sight worth visiting, is chock full of history, and overall is a beautiful place.
