Yeah that pissed me off too, I told myself "hey it's been a long time since I updated my ps". The minute after, this freaking thing happens. Which, as artist, is a function we use all the time. It passed the several months bug testing. It's unbelievable. I already did the revert thing but thanks for the video, as it spreads the info. We're paying every month to have newer, functional versions and we can't even have a f****** basic feature
Hi Adam, I just had this issue too and found out that its not bug, just that the default setting for the color wheel is attach to the background color. All u need is hold alt and click the foreground icon then it will update to the foreground color. 0:13 alt click the foreground color swatch will do, currently the wheel is attack to background color.
@@camilocarreno8672 glad my comment help someone, sometimes PS has too many hidden feature that user accidently toggle it and have no clue how to revert it and thought its adobe bug haha
in the end my issue was the "sample size" in the color picker option, if it's set to 101 by 101 i'll blend everything you see for the color picker. the "sample" choice needs to be set to all layers as well, just writing it down here in case someone is looking, might be helpful too
thanks man. I can finally work again like I used to. quality was dropping dramatically but I thought "man maybe I just gotta adjust". shows you have to always be on point. work flow saved again. appreciate it.
Krita is better for painting (even though it also has bugs) and perhaps other things like animation. You have to get a bit more into it to see why. At surface level it is the same as photoshop. But industry inertia is strong, so I don't see people switching, which is unfortunate. If they did and it got more funding it would be miles ahead fairly quickly due to it being FOSS and focusing on painting from the get go.
they do have a fix. all you have to do is to press and hold: alt+ctrl+shift+F1+F12+ins+del +end+esc all at the same time, then press the space bar three times without letting go of the aforementioned keys or just roll back to V23 as Adam said
It happens in game dev too (I went through that)... actually, also in web dev studios, and general apps development, at least, at companies I worked at (maybe I'm unlucky, tho).
Oh I recognise your frustration só much! I don't have much time and now I'm spending hours looking for a solution, so thx, 22.2 is working fine indeed!!
Thank god! I'm not an idiot after all. I wish they'd just put out a perpetual version of PS 2023, like they did with Substance 3D on steam. Never going to happen, I know...
It's so sad to watch the way that Photoshop has changed in the last few years. I've had to reverse my updates several times because of bugs that were introduced. And Adobe completely abandoned digital painters as well. By now even my tablet painting apps have a more sophisticated brush engine than Photoshop. On the PC I've completely moved away from PS for painting and went for Clip Studio Paint. Not perfect either but so much more fun to paint in.
I simply uninstalled and reinstalled 2024, and it is working as expected. Not sure if that helps anyone else, but I was glad that I could keep using the current version. I suspect that it was a preferences thing.
Thank you thank you thank you!! I was going crazy here! Also.. I had the "MagicPicker" addon so, I had to move into that while this thing was crazy.. But seriously, thank you!
Interesting. I don't have that issue in my Version 25.1 - but, wow, you taught me how to go back to a different version. That WILL be helpful in the future, for certain. Thanks for the video, dog! 🇺🇸
Lol,had rhis problem exactly yesterday. I felt like going nuts and went straight back to Clip Studio haha... I was like "during an internship LAST YEAR I didn't have this issue wtf"
EDIT: I'm stupid and didn't notice the color actually changing in the swatch. so, it is still a bug. this reminded me of how CSP's color picker has 2 modes: picking color from the selected layer and from the whole image. I noticed that in the beginning you've been trying to pick colors from the solid gray layer, and I didn't think the tool was broken, because I'm used to this in CSP, when I have the wrong mode selected. maybe Adobe added this as a feature and it can be toggled in the tool settings somewhere?
I came to this video because of this problem and I thought it was a configuration of my tablet or my keyboard but thanks for telling me that I see that it is a photoshop error
Hello there Adam. Once again, I really believe you need to make a video about TH-cam's increasing censorship, policies, guidelines, and its controversies, and how it's affecting content creators and artists alike because it's so stifling and suffering, especially for me. Just recently I found that this one content creator that I occasionally looked up to got taken down recently and honestly this makes my blood boil. I am really concerned about the TH-cam system right now and how it will constantly take down other channels for no other reason and now I am terrified that my TH-cam channel will get taken down. Adam, I really believe you need to make a video about this and I would love to hear your professional opinions about this
These are those times and rights of passage when dealing with any software. I keep falling in the trap of running the update when I could just stick with the one that works just to get things done. I need to remind myself that if I run the update, I need to leave enough space and time to run tests to see if breaks something critical. If something is hitting a deadline, then just stick with the update that works. I love and hate technology.
I'm getting a callback from Adobe tomorrow to try to resolve this. It's happening on their end as well, but when they called today they said that they couldn't access their servers to figure it out. (Unsurprising considering the forums broke when I tried to report it there) Hopefully this results in a patch in the next week or so.
Hey, thanks, Adam. I just found your video after Photoshop willingly updated my Photoshop to their latest version of 2025 without my permission. I Appreciate this video, but it looks like Adobe is still acting up 11 months after.
I hate that Adobe is the leading industry standard software developer, they are money gougers, everything is poorly optimized, their 'innovations' are subpar (provided they work), and they dont listen to their customer base. I know a lot of people use many other programs but they have a hold on the industry that they dont deserve, we got stokholm syndrome or something I swear.
I'm not using Photoshop for painting anymore but clip studio paint but I use it for graphic design and I'm still going to have to install an older version because the contextual bar drives me crazy(I know I can hide it), it takes a long time to open and everything is way clunkier.
I was loosing my patience when that things happened .I uninstall, restart and try again till I got fed up I uninstall the 2024 and install the 2023 version back.
Im workin on a greyscale painting and when I color pick, my colorpicker is showing the colors as a greenish tint? Its getting the accurate colors though when I paint but idk why its showing it with a green tint on the color picker, annoying af. *Edit. I reinstalled a older version like in the video and it helped. So I'm guessing ima have to wait for PS to fix this bug on the next update?
I knew I wasn’t going crazy when the color picker didn’t work. Thank you!

This exact problem was driving me crazy until i found your video man, Thank god! You really saved me from hours of toiling and frustration
Me too! I re-installed 22.2 and there it's working!

GRACIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS

Literally found this video while reinstalling an older version with my fingers crossed. Can confirm your method works. Thank you!

This made my day,
I'm sorry Adam but when you're ticked off its the most awesome thing ever.
You give off such a mic drop vibe and I'm here for it.
I've been searching the internet for solution for days now. Thank you

😂 oh my god....
Devs new about this but Adobe made them publish this despite that. Its incredible that this things keep happening
It happens in game dev too (I went through that)... actually, also in web dev studios, and general apps development, at least, at companies I worked at (maybe I'm unlucky, tho).

Had the same moment a few days ago - was so furious after realizing what the problem was
Still running 2022 for this exact reason. That was the last version where zooming hasn’t been bugged
Still running 2003 7.0 and had no problems at all
This is a HUGE help. THANK YOU!!
What an amazing piece of software
Thank god! I'm not an idiot after all.
I wish they'd just put out a perpetual version of PS 2023, like they did with Substance 3D on steam. Never going to happen, I know...
Good catch. (I don't use PS anymore, but it's one of those things that guessing the trick in a single day is still a blessing...)
