Old time Villan here. Always had respect for the ‘old’ Man City. Remember the first ever Premier League, when Villa were going head to head with Man U, the banner displayed at the away end ‘Good luck from the City of Manchester’. Supporting a team throughout really hard times, whilst your cross city rivals were winning everything. That’s commitment. Since the investment, the ‘new’ City fans have become arrogant and easy to dislike. It’s good to hear from the old school City, well reasoned and well balanced. Good choice of people to interview. Certainly don’t agree with your final comment that Villa didn’t play that well. That sounded a bit of sour grapes, which wasn’t there throughout the Vlog. Anyway Merry Christmas and it’s only a game. Allegedly. UTV
It wasn’t meant as an insult to Villa who deserved to win by a bigger score, simply that Villa played much better when they beat us two years ago, I though the whole game was flat - only my opinion - thanks for watching and all the best to you
@@rogergoldman9375 Villa not a great team. Got beat after the city game.
City in very poor form at the moment. Around 8 players missing. Most clubs will beat city, until they get their first team back.
@ first team back? You’ve still got a squad packed with internationals. Let’s hope it’s the beginning of a terminal decline in city’s fortunes.

Villa Fan here - is it a crisis... going down to the old 2nd div in 98 was a crisis, If I'd asked you then if finishing outside the top 5 of the premiership was a crisis, I know what you would have said!!!!
Football is a roller coaster, ups and downs, enjoy the ups and grit your teeth for the downs, you'll be back
I started our rollercoaster ride in 1989. What you say is absolutely true.
If Pep doesn't stop picking Gundogan, Walker and Bernardo SIlva he should go. Amazing players in their prime but his loyalty to past it players is absolutely killing us. We all so easy to play against it's criminal.
The 1st person spoke superbly and was spot on in everything he said, the modern city is a world away from the one most of us know in a good way
‘Don’t even think Villa played that well’. Really?!
Don’t agree with that at all villa was the better team by far..villa’s midfield was the difference.
They were decent.
@welshlad6427 possibly our best performance bar bayern utv!
They made City look pretty average. Haaland was non existent.
What game were you watching.?
Wish more fans (on social media) had the attitude of the first interview
Totally agree with the comments from the fella towards the end who was critical of Walker. He’s not interested, he’s obviously sulking about the criticism he’s been getting all season, criticism that is thoroughly deserved. The second Villa goal, what effort did he make to stop that shot, zero. TBH, whilst appreciating what he’s done for us in previous seasons, that’s all in the past, I don’t want to see him in any match day squad again, time to go, preferably in January! And well past the time to put the youngsters in.
It’s probably more to do with the exhaustion of running after all those kids he’s got .
Walker should not be the club captain . The captain should be there to set an example , and the way he behaves in his football and personal life is appalling.
@@darrenwarby32 Walker shouldn't even play.
After the last few years this will seem shite for you City fans and you seem an honest lot, but as a Villa fan from the late 60's we have gradually got to where are through alot of painful years . No doubt you will turn this current bad spell around . Glad it wasn't against us .UTV.
£77.6M on the Croatian Mangala was not good business. Walker and Gundogan are past it.
he has no strength no pace cannot defend no awareness and a day dreamer a f liability he needs to wake up
@ As a defender he’s absolutely terrible. £77.6M was madness. £53M for Nunes and £100M for Grealish. Whilst letting Cole Palmer, Alvarez and Laporte leave. I think Stones is finished as he’s always injured. Not one player scored more than 5/10 yesterday
The team should be made to watch this vlog and take it in . the last guy was spot on .
11 Internationals started for city again today.
No excuses.

Thank you Ian, City looked tired out and Villa deserved the three points. Phil's goal will be a turning point for him and City and when we beat Everton at home boxing day we can push on from there. Have a good Christmas to you Ian. It is great to be a blue.
Brilliant work as always ian wishing all the cheeseman family a wonderful christmas and a brilliant 2025 from dublin blue since 1981
Tick Tock pep...
Brilliant vlog as ever Ian, hoping this poor run comes to an end soon 🙏
I for one will continue to back Pep to put it right. After everything we've achieved from 100 points, the English quad, 4 Premier league Titles in a row, the treble, win, lose, draw Boys in Blue from division 2. It's always great to be a Blue 💙
Huge respect to the old city fans, especially the chap re the shirt! Villa man here, this is a blip for you
Spineless second half, half decent first half, but Ian I feel Mark McCarthy summed it up, it’s a culmination of things, injuries, players low confidence and some playing out of position, but most of all an ageing team coming to the end of its time. We’ve also finally been found out, it’s only took 8 years under pep, but every team deploying the same setup, defending deep, closing us down, pressurising us at the back, forcing errors, then when we do come forward and lose the ball, we’re being hit on the break with quick forwards which is killing us. The lack of pace throughout the team is evident, too slow, too predictable leading to nothing in front of goal. This is really worrying, can’t see where the next win is coming from. Pep needs to change things drastically .
The players have completely downed tools
Great Vlog as always Ian, just gotta hang in there. We will be back, if it takes a couple seasons so be it. We have been spoilt in these recent times and we have been in much worse positions than this.
Haaland may as well not play as hes getting absolutely zero service at the moment. Lewis seems to be scapegoat but he did well again, despite a lot being asked of him, nows the time to play some of our other talented youngsters a long side. Cant see it happening though.
Have a good xmas Ian 🩵
Been a city fan here in Aus for 45 years seen worse times than this. For a long time a successful season was staying up & beating Man UTD. That score against Villa did flatter us as it was the worst performance since the turn of the century. Injuries are only a small part of the issue. The players look tired down and out l. Our real issue is a mental and there is a lack of Effort through the whole team we must overcome this asap
disagree pound for pound this with the quality they have is the worst ever i have never seen 1 win in 12 in all my 51 years as a season ticket holder may be 1996 the first half of the season under alan ball where we picked up 1 win in 11 and got relegated .. but then we had no money and no expectation today we have the best manager on the planet a billion pound squad its f diabolical this drop off something has to break either the players or pep have run there coarse
Well said Mark, brilliantly summed up, another great Vid Ian, Up The Blues!
The shirt lad summed everything up perfectly 💙👍🏼

Guy saying the injuries are killing us is totally wrong,we are 5th in the prem injury list,Arsenal have had more, and it is a crisis, the players have stopped playing for the manager, total rebuild needed, we hardly create a chance now, poor poor poor.
Very refreshing to actually see and hear from City fans with their feet on the ground. Great comments and fair conclusions apart maybe from the end. More credit to Villa than what was given I think. They played very well. I'd like to say they didn't because they didn't need to however, some of the key City players were nullified. I think Cash had to empty his pocket to let Grealish go home. Tielemans tore the mf and defence apart with single passes on quite a few occasions. Rogers hardly had a hand laid on him and they couldn't handle Onana or Kamara. Should have been more than 2-1.
A few injuries , a few ageing players but the foundations of a great club with the supporters is set in stone . Cheers Ian , looking forward to the next win 💙
Pep has to get over his own ego.
How many times does he have to see his players failing to defend high up the pitch, and even worse not having the legs to recover, before he changes the system ?
He can't make slow players faster by improving their mentality or attitude.
Bang average teams have worked out his Achilles heel, and the current group of players can't defend all the open pitch behind them.
If he can't change, then he needs to go, and do it quickly.
If City get docked 30 points, then our current form would see us down in May.
Nice one Cheesey, keep the faith, all the best for Christmas
I'm not an expert or a qualified coach just an old fart that's been supporting city 55+ years... I think having seen them at their worst and seen the team since they got back in the epl it gives a bit of perspective. I honestly feel that the club were in a bad position coming into this season - not having Pep's signature and not knowing what the outcome of the EPL charges meant it wasn't the best time to spend their money (which they have lots of on the balance sheet from sales and income not "oil money") and revitalise the team - so they didn't. The players have aged and played so many matches that some are getting injuries that either re-occur or take longer to get over or in recovery cause secondary ones - this creates an ever changing team that is playing with niggles etc. (Walker looks like he is operating at 50% so as not to twang anything - hence the criticism) People are asking for youngsters to go in for more legs but City haven't exactly played better when they were subbed in (have they?)
Haaland is feeding on scraps - only speculative / mostly inaccurate crosses into the box and nobody putting in passes like the one that Villa used to make their 1st goal. KdB used to do this but this supply has dried up... who else is making those defence splitting passes? Obv against packed defences in low blocks it's almost impossible (so they go wide and pop hopeful balls into the box)
I think opposition teams have worked out that City aren't able to keep possession as well as previously and that the high defence (on the half way line!?) & inverted fullbacks allows acres of space in their defensive half - which means they are wide open at breakdowns / turnovers / misplaced passes and resulting breakaways... City have fallen foul of this and have just kept on playing the same way...SIMPLY because a game every 3 days makes it impossible to do the work necessary to sort these issues. They need stability and time to regroup but the EPL is absolutely relentless and a drop of 10% is punished like this. Hopefully they can come up with a few tweaks that make us harder to beat - why should we not play on the break or play a bit deeper and ask the opposition what they've got ?
Spot on. In summary, no legs and left exposed over and over again
Excellent blog Ian..UTV.
villa fan in peace , thoughts on the game - there is something really wrong , like the players know something big is brewing - we looked like we wanted it more , Rico lewis doesnt look nowhere near good enough - grealish played well but faded

The bloke who does the MCFC foodbank at the end made some good points as did Mark McCarthy at the start. . .
I have no doubt that MCFC will rise like a phoenix again. Although as a Villa die hard, the Villa bossed every inch of the park today. A deserved win that even the most passionate of City fans can't argue that City were anywhere near on par.
Giid luck for the rest of the season. Its only halfway, and the PL is full of high calibre competition this season. UTV 💜💙

Oh dear it was all going so well until you said villa didn’t play very well ? Then again if villa had the same success you’ve enjoyed over the last few years then I’d be an expert too. UTV
Why keep playing Haaland? Another 4 out of 10 performance but he’s never dropped? Why? Put Foden and Silva in the middle and Savinho right wing and try something different. Pep does the same thing every game and it’s not working. Why keep doing it again and again. For goodness sake Pep, try something different
Something wrong within the players, Pep pissed afew off 🤷♂️ dunno, but thats football, from outsider (villa fan) every team has struggles etc but 11 on the bounce 🤭🤧.
Not good...
Good look for rest of the season 💜💙
It's the definition of insanity this. Doing the same thing over & over & expecting a different outcome. I know they'll never do this, but I'd love them to stop torturing our players. We've 2 easy games over Christmas, but we'll lose both.
Send the players home until new year & play the best academy players in the next 2.
These are unprecedented times & the players will start well rested after the new year
I was at work all day on Saturday so i missed watching the game, in fact I'm quite glad i did miss, I had no confidence we'd get a result at Villa, With all the injuries in our defence, and our weak and slow midfield, and team confidence being so low, I'm not sure where our next win is coming from.
Everyone needs to relax. This drop off is probably the most predictable, inevitable thing that was ever coming. After a 4peat and Treble the players gave everything, their legs had gone. We couldn't replace adequately due to the charges and the uncertainty. Once the charges are done we can get back to the original plan. A Lion always sleeps when it's well fed. Great vlog Cheesy 👍💙

In my opinion there are several reasons for our decline. 1/ we have always been a pass-and-move team wearing opponents down, but the rule change in 2023 allowing 5 subs affected us more than most, fresh legs took away some of our advantage. 2/ we like to compress play with a very high line but that leaves 40 yards for opponents to get behind us, our defenders aren't the fastest so we are vulnerable to the counter.3/ teams know this so defend deep and counter attack with pace. 4/ we have lost energy in midfield so don't press like we used to. 5/ we have too many players with skill but lacking strength and energy. 6/ Love Haarland but the way teams play against us we would be better with Niall Quinn
HERE WE GO !!!. Wait till rodri in prime.man city need more...
Meanwhile alverez and cole palmer top scorers
Sane, Torres and Laporte all playing well too
City don’t seem to have had too many blatant refereeing decisions going against them in the last 5-6 years. You would have thought that the bad refereeing decisions between the clubs would have averaged themselves out over that time.
Expected a reaction today after last week's derby defeat but no passion hunger or desire from the team that's all we want to see in defeat
A lot of City's problems on the pitch in my opinion, is we don't seem to make any tackles , we need to win the ball back better by putting a foot in when the other team are running with the ball. We rely too much on just intercepting the ball. These days teams are running through us.
We have to play McAtee, O'Reilly and Wright to give more energy
Might as well give them a go. It can't get any worse.
Some thing isn't quite right at Manchester City ?,
Absolutely pathetic 2nd half again no fight no pride
Not a City fan, but have loved watching this team the last few seasons, this 'the injuries' narrative been spun from some fans is nonsense, you had injuries in last few seasons and it's not affected you, the reality is Squad and PEP are both burnt out and shattered both emotionally and physically after 6/7 years of almost unparalleled success, and now starting to age around the fringes, it's fine, it's natural but please don't hide behind the 'it's injuries' garbage.
