We play Dandân - Round Two

- Dandân also known as Forgetful Fish is one of the most complicated and skill intensive Magic the Gathering formats. Two players share one deck, one graveyard and one color (it's blue) and the only creature in the deck that can kill your opponent is - you probably guessed it - Dandan, a 4/1 fish for two blue mana, that relies on Islands on both sides.

Love this format, even printed off a 3D DanDan deck holder board which is the fish coming out of the water from CuIts3D to put my deck on.
The variant we play has 2 Pirate ships and 2 Sea Singers in it for added fun.
My variant only runs cards printed in the old border. I call it old border dandân. I’m running enchantments and artifacts. My philosophy is that all card types need to be represented.
@CardmarketMagic You know what would be could? To be able to put directly this deck list into my CardMarket wishlist
7:20 "So my Dandâns are, well, done-done."
Such an underrated joke, well done, Thoralf!
At the end 23:19 the dan dan would have died because the vision charm had resolved so he has no islands
haha true! crazy
Came here to say this
Yeah. They even remembered that islands don’t produce blue, but didn’t put the second dandan to graveyard.
@@sebbbi2 Jip 😂
I came to the comments for this I was very confused
The: “Jamin knows the top cards are: ..” was very helpful! Thx editors!
Agreed. Those little visual aids were a great addition.
Jamin knows he will have sausages for lunch after this game.
After your last vid, i built dandan. i play it way more than any other format.
I did too! This decklist is different from the last vid, so are you upgrading?
@lucaschamberlain34 prob not, not now at least. But some of the new stuff looks great, predict looks awesome
@@Mightypideduce might be a cool little draw spell don’t think it would be great but I like it
Mono U for the win!!!
I guess your beard now almost reaches your bellybutton
Let’s gooooooo! Now let’s get another round of judge tower!
More judges tower please!
Or maybe 4 player Dan-Dan?
@@alexnunes3022 Dan-Dan-Dan-Dan?
Oh, judge tower has been my favorite format recently! DanDan is hilarious too.
@@Rocknoob49😅2 headed dandan
@@alexnunes3022hahah, if they'll do 4 players dandan, someone here will win because everyone else are decked out XD just in this match Thoralf and Jamin had only 3 or 4 cards left in the deck
" i dont know whos turn it is"
- one blue mage to another blue mage
Very fun! I hope Dan Dan becomes a semi-regular series for this channel!
I am really hyped to see more gameplay, more modern, pioneer and standart with good and fun decks, but dandan etc. is also incredibly fun
We will be doing more gameplay videos soon, we'll be switching to more 1v1 games soon. We simply had a series of guests that didn't match it for a while
@@CardmarketMagic Carl had better have his hat!
"That last Dandan didn't properly show the format"
> Proceeds to have a much more scuffed Dandan game
I think this game had a lot of depth to it. Trying to fight over lands instead of dandans was an interesting line.
as always it was a pleasure too watch Thoralf and Jamin play, their friendly banter is really heartwarming and makes watching the video much more enjoyable, 10/10.
I was introduced to magic by a friend years ago. Never owned any paper cards of my own but they let me borrow theirs and we would games for hours on end with the different decks they had built and even helped me build some out of the cards that were left over. We ended up moving apart from each other and I picked up playing arenas to try and fill that gap that was created. After playing that for years and stumbling upon this channel I was inspired to buy my own cards, build my own decks out of the cards I pulled from packs and now have found out friends at work play and was able to get back into playing paper magic with friends. Honestly if it wasn’t for this channel I’d probably still be stuck playing arenas by myself, which there is nothing wrong with at all but, there’s just some magic about paper magic that I was missing and like I said, without seeing all the great paper magic being played on this channel I could still be stuck grinding ranked on my phone on work breaks so thanks to all of the great member of the cardmarket team that makes this possible and to all the wonderful guest you’ve had on!❤
pauper decks are cheap enough that you could buy decks for your friends
Y'all made me build a Dandan deck and it's a TON of fun!
I am trying to talk my buddies into playing dandan with me
21:29 Your Magikarp evolved into: Gyarados.
I will always like for Dandân content. Spoiler for the video ahead
I was wondering if Toffel was going to get greedy and try to deck Jamin when there were 4 cards left in the library. If Jamin had survived that last turn (something something vision charm), it would have reached the classic Dandân scenario of having both damage and mill win cons in play. I love this format.
I love the way Thoralf says Dandan.
I absolutely love the editing style of this video. All the visuals showing who has what cards and knows what is really helpful
This channel always has the cleanest editing. It's subtle and super helpful. I love it!
What a great video!! Thoralf and Jamin are so good at magic and it is a joy to watch them sling spells! I'm always down for more Dandân videos!!!
Weird format videos are such a treat. I hope you wonderful lads have as much fun making these as we do watching!
Love these other MTG formats friends. I am learning so much about the stack and sequencing. Love it!
Thank you Cardmarket! I was really hoping you'd make another Dandan video.
Thank you for doing this video. I asked for this months ago, you are legends.
That was a fun ride! It's always cool to see how much reading other people and predicting hand cards can impact a game! I haven't played enough 1v1 formats to get good at it so I love to learn some tricks from the masters
dandan is what brought me to this channel! yall could play dandan every week and i would still tune in xD also there are deck lists of other mono colored dandan? or maybe yall could make your own dandan list? i also loved the editing that Fele did this episode!
Thanks for redoing another game, was a blast to watch!
Man this was so much fun to watch! More Dandan :D
I am definitely building this. It looks like such a fun way to play and work on decision making.
always great to see more dandan
After your first video a while ago I built my own Dandan variant that implements powerful cards like Sensei's Divining Top and Jace the Mind Sculptor while at the same time plays around with your and your opponents Islands with cards like Daze, Coral Atoll, Mystic Sanctuary, spreading Seas and many non-Island lands. It's super complex and super fun. I can share a decklist if you are interested.
Ooo, I'm interested! Please do share
Lol you put jace in a deck with only 10 ways to kill it? That sounds like the format isn't dandan but instead jacejace
Nope, there are blue removal spells that can hit planeswalkers, e.g. Metamorphose
I really can't explain how happy I am we're back to dandan
That was super fun!!! I'd love to see this return every few months.
The little rulings on the side, such as the Unsubstantiate on the flashback spell is great for players learning rules interactions. Keep that up!
I love land locking people in Dandan, it's brutal
Great editing on the video! I love how much y'all highlight niche formats!
If you guys are interested in playing it, I designed and built a different shared deck format. it's built around the card loxodon peacekeeper and is a multiman (4 person) format similar to edh. It completely changes the traditional goals for magic
Share it!
Yes! More Dandân, it's such a fun format
Awesome, another Dan-Dan video! Something like this or Judges Tower is probably my favorit mtg content.
I love these crazy formats!!
THAT WAS GREAT!!! Dandan is such a cool format!
So much fun, this episode more fun that the other and very tempting to get my own dandan deck
would love to see this again in like 8 months. well played both of you
Very fun game :D Props to the editor ! The musoc was so epic during the final confrontations
The editing on this video is hilarious! The thumbnail isn't as funny as last time, but I still like it!
I've had a foil timeshifted Dandan in a sleeve taped to my work locker for about eight years now, the purple expansion symbol ink has turned silvery blue, the boats are gray, I think it counts as damage but it just looks really cool!
I don't know how your editing is getting even better. Holy cow they deserve a raise!
Love these games. Would love to see dandan again sometime in the future.
I love seeing more DanDan! Next judge's tower?
Glad to see Dandan making its comeback
That was great. Thanks.
Yes I was waiting for this
Yaaaay🎉
I do love these
Definitely keen for more Dandan. It’d be cool to see you try different variations of it too: such as the original mirage era version from Nick’s write up (which is what I have built) as well as some other shared deck formats built around other cards too.
Alright, this convinced me. I've now bought Dandan.
Great game guys, really fun and interactive :)
Def would love to see this and judge tower again. Love them.
That was a good round of Dan Dan, Thanks :)
The fact that Thoralf said "as the new people say" is adorable! Thofl, did you mean "kids"? 😂😂
Your previous dandan video made me build a deck, and I enjoy the format a lot. This video uses a different list with a few very interesting cards... I might try to build a new version, or go up to 100 cards and include the stuff I discovered in here, + a few more islands and of course more dandan!
The editing for this was great!
This got me hocked on dandan! I've even been trying to make a dandan style deck in each color!!
27:18 What a pro plug, Jamin knows no fear in the face of Dandan.
that was crazy, love it
I like this! Really fun
this game really showcased just how interesting a card game dandan is
I've been using this in between rounds at the LGS, my record isn't great 😅 but it's always a load of fun. I've even made a small fix to it by replacing Chart a Course with a little known card called Lat-Nam's Legacy. For 1U, instant, shuffle a card from your hand into your library. If you do, draw two cards at the beginning of the next turn's upkeep. It's a really really good way to screw with all the top of library manipulation and gets useless cards out of your hand. It's played really well ❤
Nothing can beat the fun of two blue decks with plenty of mana and cards in hands 😂
Let's go, i love this neat formats!
I loved it, inspired to build this and play it
Amazing, so fun!
Wow, that was very good!
This is a really fun format to watch! I would not mind if this would be like semi regular thing or sth.
I think it would also be interesting to see different kinds of players play it to see how they approach it. (Absolutely Not to be taken as Jamin and Thoralf are uninteresting, just as a general thought)
Someone really went "you know what? I wish there were a format that's always a mono-blue mirror match"
Amazing video, as always. Keep it going amigos
I love these videos so much
I would love to see this be a regular thing!
I like how Thoralf got all the Dandans and Jamin got all the Accumulated Knowledges.
more dandan! thanks cardmarket!
Now this is the chaotic, mind-bending, Dandan game I was waiting to see!
Thank you for round 2!!!
love the longer videos
This was quite a good video, well played
Mooooore Dandân!!!
Love this!
I need to build my own Dandân deck.
Thoralf's opening hand is eligible for a free mulligan by Nick Floyd's original Dandân rules!
"The standard mulligan rule applies, but anytime a starting hand of seven cards does not contain two or more land cards or does contain six or more, that player may reveal those cards and take a free mulligan without having to put an additional card on the bottom of the library when finally deciding to keep a hand. "
Yeah. That was because the two important namesake cards both cost two, so I figured if a player didn’t have two lands it should be a redraw by default.
Genuinely would love to have this rematch every now and then
Ever green content 100%
It's a really interesting battle to watch
This was awesome - very competitive format.
Would love to see another round of this
I recently discovered this format and it's so much fun! I'm not the first or the last person to request more videos of the forgetful fish ;) and maybe if you have ideas for a variant of dandan that might be fun too!!
"or as the new people say, bing chilling" 💀
I love this format
this is the best format ever :D
I feel like there could be a spinoff format called Ooze Ooze with a bunch of Slime Against Humanity and other ooze cards. It might not play as well, but it would make for a funny gag.
I wonder if 20 life would be enough...
More Dandan please! This was super fun! (Also more pauper please!)
i liked the last dandan video, and i loved this one!
"Or as the new people say, bing chilling" 🤣🤣
I'll have to build a dandan deck. Looks like a ton of fun.
Dandân. The thinking person's format.
"I will Memory Lapse."
"...I will Memory Lapse your Memory Lapse."
"I will Memory Lapse my Memory Lapse before your Memory Lapse, and then Memory Lapse your Memory Lapse with my Memory Lapse."
"...What format is this again?"
Play again please! I love DanDan!
I printed a version of this using Pokemon art and names. Some examples include Accumulated Knowledge -> Pokedex, Ray of Command -> Team Rocket, and of course, Dandan -> Magikarp.
