I’m a Canadian US truck driver. It’s driving me crazy that the news outlets and politicians are rarely telling people that each country is responsible for their OWN borders.
Nothing gets into the US without going through US Border & Customs Protection. If something gets into the US they didn’t do THEIR job - it’s not Canada’s job to protect the US.

What? Canada must stop the production and distribution of fentanyl before it gets to the border for the survival of Canada. The country is dying from within. Forget about the damn border the real problem is the massive production of $160B worth of drugs sold in Canada but mainly exported to the world from Vancouver. The libtards are criminally irresponsible. And the stupid voters sucked in by Trudeau carry the blame for voting for WOKENESS and DEI

@lisahope4582 are you rich? Or do you not follow politics? Most likely you are middle class and don't know very much. Below is poileivre voting in the past:
Poilievre stood next to Stephen Harper and voted to cut $43,5 billion in health care transfers to provinces and territories in 2012.
In 2023, he voted to cut funding for surgery and emergency room wait times by $196.1 billion.
Poilievre also voted to stop the dental care program, and the pharmacare program that will start by providing free diabetes and birth control medications.
      • Poilievre voted against initiatives to make housing affordable and address Canada’s housing crisis in 2006, 2009, 2010, 2013, and 2014 when Conservatives were in power; and again in 2018 and 2019 as a member of the official opposition.
      • Poilievre was Housing Minister in Stephen Harper’s Conservative government, which allowed 800,000 affordable rental units to be sold off to corporate landlords and developers.
      • Under the Harper Conservatives, the average home price in Canada went up 70% (worse than the awful 45% increase under the Liberals), and he refused to do anything about it.
      • Poilievre wants to terminate the federal Housing Accelerator Fund, cutting billions of dollars from housing construction and making it harder for municipalities to build more homes.
      • Some of Poilievre’s top donors are real estate investors - the same people cranking up rents and fighting rent control across the country.
      • If Poilievre wins, rich landlords and developers win - and the rest of us lose

Canada doesn’t pay the US tariffs, American companies do. Those tariffs costs are then dropped into the laps of the American consumer buying Canadian products. This encourages American companies to make their products in the US to remain competitive.
The retaliatory Canadian tariffs, however, do the opposite. They charge Canadian companies to bring in American products from the US. Which then trickles down to the Canadian consumers.
The difference here is, you have a US administration trying to bring manufacturing back to their country, and are using tariffs to motivate US companies to reach that goal and strengthen the US economy. On the other hand, in Canada, you have a man go on stage to tell you that you (a Canadian citizen) will pay 25% more for US products for no other reason than to engage in schoolyard retaliation. Trudeau has no plan for these tariffs, no long term vision for how these tariffs will strengthen our country, he just wants to pretend he has a big d*** swinging around, while pocketing an extra 25% tax on top of American products.

    • @lyricallyricist

@@cd1772you fail to consider the delivery of this. 25% tariffs on ALL products isn’t some calculated decision to help industry A or B. That is exactly what trying to start a nonsense trade war is. There’s no logic to it. US doesn’t even have our blend of crude, it’s actually moronic. They need our potash, our hydro.
The issue too is US buys from Canada because we offer a better deal so no, it doesn’t help US citizens either because they are telling people “avoid the good deal so we can manufacture it full price and charge customer more”. If ever companies stopped producing in China and 3rd world countries and moved to US the price of goods would shoot up.
So sure in theory targeted tariffs to boost certain industries make sense but there is no targeted industry. There is no logic to any of it beyond trying to strongarm the US’ biggest trading partner and ally.
So yes the lunatic is Trump. He just knows US is too big for people to argue with, not that he believes blanket tariffs help.

Mexico accounted for 25 per cent of vehicles built in North America last year and sold in the US, up from 10 per cent in 2000. While Canada’s share has fallen by 8.4 percent over the same period, now making up less than 10 per cent of all cars sold in the US. Canada wants the same as Mexico 25% or don't let the US sell cars in Canada. The End. We lost 500,000 good Manufacturing jobs to the US in the 80-90's. Trump did us a favor, he woke the country up!
Tell me, who is the psycho in this situation?

A problem long ago was that many states vacationers would wear a maple leaf on their clothing so whichever country they were visiting would treat them 'nicer' ... When the man said he would look for the maple leaf on his potential purchases, I couldn't help but think of who might sneakily place that on their packaging ... 'in the near future', just to cause havoc.
