Wow! We've had Airedales for decades. This is the best compilation of facts and interesting tidbits I've seen about them. Based on our family's 40 years of experience with the Oorang variant, they don't have more health problems than the standard sized Dales. I do absolutely agree with the advice to watch any Airedale's health closely because they will do their best to hide any distress (for a variety of reasons including not wanting to trouble their people.) Including the black and red variants was really cool. Since pictorial proof of black Dales goes back to the breed's beginning, I've never understood the prejudice against them. All together, this video is impressive and fun, a great showcase for this wonderful breed. It rocks! (BTW, any Airedale who needs dozens of repetitions to learn a command is either brain damaged or running a scam-my money is on the scam.)
My girl definitely fits all these traits. She was dumped, but the person who did doesn’t live far. One Airedale, and a black Poodle. She’s a spitting image and the truck we saw dump her, lives there! Oh well, she’s our girl now. What a smart breed they are, you can’t trick them into things like most dogs! I love her, but they’re kind of crazy. And grooming is a nightmare if they’re outdoor dogs (mine runs through the wood, comes back full of stick-tights). Definitely an active person’s dog, they love action. Great watchdogs too. They bark at anything out of the ordinary, blessing and a curse.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to accept some of these so-called facts that are unknown to Dale owners. As stated the breed was originally created by crossing the now extinct Old English Black and Tan Terrier and the Ottohound. When imported to the US the standard height for an Airedale Terrier was approximately 24 inches at the shoulder. In the early 1900s the AKC reduced the height to approximately 23 inches at the shoulder. The CKC did the same but the UK stills holds to the 24 inch height standard. The Airedale was always too large to go to "ground" as most terriers and many thought the breed should have been moved to the Working Group. It appears that some of the included facts are inaccurate. Can you explain where you obtained your information that so-called Airedales that are totally Black or Red or smooth coated meet the AKC breed standard? Such colored dogs claimed to be Airedales are cross bred dogs and have yet be included within the AKC Airedale Terrier breed standard. Perhaps some other canine organizations have accepted these dogs but that is not the case with the AKC, the UK or the CKC! Oorang Airedales were created by Walter Lingo in his Oorang Dog Kennels and those Dale ranged in various sizes. Although there are many breeders of large Airedales today, it is highly doubtful that any of such breeders can document that their stock came from the Oorang Dog Kennels. Frankly, there is nothing new in this video.
They didn't enjoy the title of 'king' because of size, darn AI clickbait.....If you know an Airedale you know why they are King. To gplotzke4470, me too.....I miss all 7 but Russ keeps me busy.

I've had Airedales all my adult life. Smart, aloof, stoic, stubborn, tenacious. Miss you, Shakespeare, Tess, and Holly. 🐕
Nice video. Amazing dogs!
Airedales served as guard dogs, messenger dogs and patrol dogs in WWI and II... There is a very large granite memorial to their service in Scotland.
Simpaticissimo 🐶👍🏻🤙🏻

Our airdale buster was an oorang and weighed 105 lbs
My first Airedale was 100 yep same oorang Airedale so amazing taught me how to love unconditionally
@@ansonwill1999Our Oorangs have done the same for us-taught us to love unconditionally-for 3 generations.
Nice video. I saw one that said they were poor swimmers and had a less than sensitive sense of smell...silly. My dog disproves that often!
Ha! 16 coulda fooled me. Had 3 2 HATED water and the most recent was leery of it
I adopted a dog last 2 years. I think he is mixed Airedale terrier and Thai ride back. Who will help me to tell ne what is his kind?
If Airedale owners don't know these things, then they are woefully ignorant and shouldn't own these dogs.
I measured my boy at 24" top o the shoulder...
Don’t they also have the largest canine teeth of the dog world ?!!
I know a couple of would-be perpetrators who would agree with that assessment of Airedale teeth.
Why there are also Wire Fox Terriers and Irish Terriers in this video? 😅
