    You guys have really good guns, they look like they’ve got everything on them, my current bar only has Diet Coke, coke, lemonade and soda on the guns, my first bar had guns like yours and it was a massive help.

    Wow! This is so fast passed lol, you guys are amazing honestly. Making a drink is easy but this looks like it can get overwhelming pretty quickly, especially if its a surge of multi ingredient cocktails lol, hats off to all the bartenders out there.

      Eye contact. Also your gut has a vibe in it. Pick up the vibe and decide if you engage or not. Also never be afraid to use humour as an Icebreaker. One of mine is "you having a double or a double?"... Upwelling and humour in one. But I work for a well known pub chain in the UK as a barman. Nothing near the skill and complexity of these guys. But yeah man. These people are out to let loose so be playful and funny. Smile.

    You're laid back and easy to listen to brother
    I'm starting the process of memorising drinks
    TH-cam seems to help more than reading
    I work as a bartender at a pub where my brother is the one of the managers, we're both 22 years old
    I would describe myself as a competent rookie behind the bar
    My brother has been in the industry since we were in our last year of high school

      You can be 18 and 19 to be a bartender depending on what state you live in in America. I live in New York and the legal age to serve and sell alcohol is 18.

      In my opinion, ur too young to be a bartender. My suggestion is apply at a restaurant for server witch if u got no experience just apply for host then just work ur way up to bartending, should take u few yrs to get the hang of working in a restaurant and also to watch and get to know the bar.. by the time ur 21, u should have a better understanding of the bar...

    Best advice I can give to anyone wanting to improve their speed of service. Try working in a busy cocktail bar, you will be forced to improve drastically, if you're not employing every skill you have in efficiency you will be stuck in the weeds all night long xD Have fun!

    Dave you rock, so a three second poor is 3 ounces, which is one shot, correct?

    • @DaveAllredTheRealBarman
      @DaveAllredTheRealBarman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Anthony, actually a three second pour from beginning to end would probably be closer to 1.5 oz. which would be one shot. Most bars pour 1.5 oz. for a shot. Some will pour 1 or 1.25 and some will pour 2 oz. but the most common shot size in the U.S. is 1.5 oz.

    Question when going behind someone like one of the bar backs or servers did in the video, you walked backwards into them, do you not tell them to shout ‘behind’ or ‘backs’?

  • @Will-bl4gx

    How do you remember what/how many drinks you made and who's tab it goes on? I see you make a lot of drinks but rarely go to the computer.

    • @DaveAllredTheRealBarman
      @DaveAllredTheRealBarman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Will, good question and there are two reasons:
      1) I can hold a lot of orders and drinks in my head and I will put them all on the tabs at once when I get to the POS. It's more efficient that way.
      2) More than half the drinks you see us making are most likely for the "well" where the servers pick up their drinks. They ring them in and we make them, so we don't have to ring those in obviously.
      Hope that helps. Thanks for stopping by.
