Amazing reconstruction. I found an old news report of the 1897 washout, where bridge 16 at Robe apparently had a 350 foot tree , 14 feet in diameter crush one of the piers, and another 500 feet of road was washed out in the floods. Tunnel 6 had debris piled 50 feet high. The floods and landslides of November 1897 were apocalyptic.

DWHM Vol 1 is a great read. Was a BIG feat to get that rail line in and keep it open.
