    I find that Fortaleza pairs best with 3pm meetings when you are working remotely 😛 Seriously, the first smell and sip of Fortaleza Blanco opened my eyes to how incredible tequila is and your channel is what spurred that exploration. Tears, G4, Arte Nom and El Tesoro are all incredible! Have to find the other brands in my area eventually.

    I have always had warmer tequila than what I've heard most people mention. Most say room temperature but I then asked what that was and most responded anywhere from 68-72. Well that's a lot cooler than we keep our house. We are generally around 77°. On a recent rafting trip I put some tequila in a metal insulated canister and by the third day it was probably around 80° or higher (outside temps over 100°) and it was fantastic. I don't worry about my glass warming up a bit anymore.

    Appreciate y’all for educating me on additive Tequilas! I always look for 100% Agave on the label now. Been back and forth on buying a Tears but haven’t yet. I’m sure one day I’ll man up and do it!

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cheers! We didn't explain it that well in the video, but brands are allowed to say 100% agave on the label even if they use additives. So check out Tequila Matchmaker's additive free list. It is a great resource

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The link of confirmed additive free:
      tastetequila.com/2021/confirmed-additive-free-tequila-brands/
      There are more obviously, but these have been confined by TM

    • @bdwilcox
      @bdwilcox 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Additives are to be avoided but the big one to avoid is the use of a diffuser. Traditionally, they used a brick oven (horno) to cook the agave and a stone roller mill (tahona) to extract the resultant juice. In modern times, many good quality tequilas have foregone the horno for an autoclave and the stone roller mill for a steel crushing wheel or shredder/impeller. All of these can still make great tequila. The problem comes with the use of a diffuser and gets even worse with the use of thermal acid hydrolysis where they add hydrochloric acid to the slurry that comes out of the diffuser to convert it to sugar. If you see diffuser, steer well clear of it.

    I subscribed and I enjoy your videos, as I recently found them. I've been doing this for many many years, but if I had to pick 3 XA's, I would substitute the Arette 4-5 year version for Siete leguas D'Antaño, which is exceptional. Of course Arette 10-year is phenomenal, but very hard to find, but a whole different animal from their other XA.

  • @greybeard3368
    @greybeard3368 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One small correction. In the beginning you said, “Blanco is the most pure form, no additives.”
    Not all Blanco Tequilas are additive free.
    (But yes, the ones you suggested are.)
    Also, I respectfully disagree about the glass. To me, I get more flavors out of a Tequila that is slightly warmed up and therefore I do use a Glencairn glass.
    Great video though!
    😃🥃

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good catch - even though the CRT has issued clarifications that blancos are not allowed to use additives, it definitely still happens (we've tasted them!). A lot of brands get around the ambiguity and call the additive laden blanco a Joven instead.

    • @greybeard3368
      @greybeard3368 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CuriosityPublic True and I wish the CRT would do more to try and stop Blanco tequilas from having additives in them.

  • @stephenshort9109
    @stephenshort9109 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    All great choices. But that is over $750 in tequilas you have there. Not really what a beginner will likely choose. The first three are $190 but once you get into XAs they start to be big money. Where are you located where you can find G4 so cheap. It's $56 here in the Houston area. I can never seem to find those great deals.

  • @MISTAJZA

      @MISTAJZA 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bdwilcox “Reasonably priced” yeah I disagree with that, go check out the other comment on this vid where the bottle prices are listed, these are all approaching the higher end, assuming the average beginner can even find them without driving to 2-3 liquor stores. IMO I think beginner spirits should be the ones available at an average grocery store and not a specialty shop.

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great point - and we maybe didn't make it clear - but this video isn't about cheaper tequilas - this is about introducing someone to the *flavors* of tequila at each step of the aging process. A bargain tequila video would be very different, and we wouldn't recommend introducing someone to tequila with those brands in general. Two different analyses.

  • @KyleC2OO7

    I just priced the first four at my local "national wine and stuff chain store" (the other two weren't available)

    G4 Reposado = $69.99 🤨
    Fortaleza Anjeo = $97.99 😒

    Beware… you start out by learning about these fine tequilas that you always avoided because you thought Cuervo was tequila. Then, you discover Mezcal, which you always avoided because you don’t like smoky booze, then you get tired of the usual Espadin agave in mezcal and start trying other agave like Jabali, Madrecuixe, Tobala, etc. and you are hooked on crazy stuff like La Venenosa Sierra del Tigre Raicilla, which smells like blue cheese and tastes like berries and a hint of smoke. So beware, There is a mind blowing world of agave out there, and it all starts with these excellent tequila brands.
