    I have built this amplifier different boards. Still sweet after almost 10 yr driving tannoy hpd. Its all about massive heatsinks ♨

    I got a message from Stanton (Jim's) today (5/21). He informed me you will build the MP-150 boards soon. I've failed with these boards and hope you will post your video of the build. He mentioned that I might be able to solve my issues watching your work.

      @@JasonLeaman Thanks for the reply. I'll keep watching when you start the project. The boards have some anomalies with traces and I don't think I figured them out. I've had everything from exploding transistors (MJE15030) to smoking emitter resistors and one board will not turn on.

      @@JasonLeaman Hi again. I have a running board. There are some definite issues with these boards I have finally figured out. The problems are with Q10 Q13 and Q14. Q13/Q14 is just as simple as shorting 2 pins on each to some other pads on the board. Q10 however is another animal. My fix is more than trying to discuss it here. How can we converse by a different method? The schematic uses a 2N5551 for Q10 but that is not practical. I have a solution.

    This was terrific! I notice Jim's audio has a vfet kit as well that caught my eye using the tokins vfets that Nelson recommended everybody buy for his upcoming designs. One diy member has a sissysit vfet version 3 out (member ZenMod). Plan on doing any vfets with those big tokins youmcan get on ebay from japan neslon has recommended? This just sorta confirmed that jims audio stuff works like people say at diyaudio. Not sure if you have any experience with the regular mosfet sounds compared to yours? Some have said the f5 sounds really clean and true to the source. Brutally revealing of the source playing. Thanks! I must say I like your videos and you deserve whatever amount to keep them coming!

      @JasonLeaman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks sir, This amp sure was nice, Although i can't comment on buying a full kit from Jim's audio because im a little bias on parts from china, my full experience is lots of smoke because of counterfeit parts. I asked Jim's audio to send me a kit to build and test but not sure if he will. It would be a good video for others to see that his kit's work. The Vfet is nice, but as i see lots of fake units on ebay so, id be skeptical. Thanks for watching.

    Tube amplifiers are better sound, are easier to work on, and they are extremely cool looking. I would not get overly excited about any sort of solid state amplifier, because silicon is a hard brittle crystal with that structure, signals and harmonics and distortion is all going to reflect the property of silicon. And silicon is like big tech, a huge pain in the ass, and its government funded technology in the end.
    Tubes are golden era technology, where optimism, quality and spirit of the country and the world were at thier highest.
    The conducting of electricity is how the amps sound good or not.
    Soldered connections and terminal connections sound different, and the manner of how the electrons flow and are generally least obstructed or structured, is making the difference in the sound.
    Vacuum transduction sounds like "pleasant space" and that is why everyone likes it who has listened to it and has a good set of healthy ears. The sound is not clangy and harsh like silicon crystal structure and harmonics. And you dont have big brother on the mainframe shoving its nose up your holes. The frequency response of silicon is extremely high and thats not good really.
    Its like a guitar made from fiberglass or nice old growth cedar.
    Thats the only way to explain it.

      LOL tube amps are also 400x the voltage and more dangerous !

    • @RobertSchmitt-u7l
      @RobertSchmitt-u7l 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are less dangerous actually. It teaches responsibility.
      And its a platform anyone is able to learn. It can be simplified and complicated depending on needs. Usually its just 2 tubes and a couple resistors, And its much better anyways.
      Literally tubes work so well because of the higher voltage. It is easier to control voltage instead of heat.
      Silicon is hype and youll probably burn your brains out trying to cut thourgh the misinformation. Diyaudio is a shitheap of misinformation.
      Tubes are much more realistic. @@JasonLeaman
