Thanks for the details. This is my number 1 sub and have a 99% success rate with the new set-up that I started doing to sneak the lapel under their heads. From side control I switch and turn pretending like I'm going for a Kimura. while he is defending it by holding on his belt or any other stuff I am opening up my lapel with my right hand but still moving my left hand on his arm like I still want the Kimura. Once I get the lapel I pass it to the left hand that is still fighting for a Kimura. Once I have it on my left hand I just bring my arm back by forcing their heads to look at the other direction with my triceps et voila then of course you do the rest.
I have now tried this choke in a week's training, and could get it at least once per session, it's a really sneaky and powerful choke, and the best part is that you don't loose the control position even if you cannot get it. This has definitely become my go-to move in side control
Sooooo not only did I use the canto strangle into the topside baseball bat that I commented on yesterday. Finished up with this bad boy as the "seminar move". Everybody LOVED it.
This is my favorite attack. I have submitted people a belt above me using it because it’s so unexpected. Another defense is to pull the gi on the other side which prevents the top guy from cutting.
That pink gi is ossome
Can we please have a followup video to when this doesn't succeed? I have some very tough opponents that sometimes can wiggle from being choked
This was the very first choke I learned from Renzo.👌👍🏻☠️

Good work, i used to take the other lapel. Thanks.
Great appreciation from a white belt.Since I saw the video been I have been using it with very high efficiency.
Great stuff! Thank you 😀
Poor guy was choked hard :D
On my grandmother sent me 😂
I love you David
But iv seen it done in competition with the wrong lapel by a black belt and it choked the opponent out
Would have choked him better/faster with the correct lapel. Try it out :)
