I don’t know, sometimes the home life plays a big part in how much of the culture you actually soak up. I’ve known people who were three generations within another culture but since they somewhat kept their motherland’s culture, they didn’t totally know the other.

Our kids will attend international school (no Pinoy English teacher)
I think maybe both parents were also born in France too and their shared language was French or English. It's fairly easy to lose one's mother tongue in Western countries if not taught or exposed enough.
@@riceball100 It's actually common in France. When the school sees a child with immigrant parents, the first thing the principal tells the parent is to avoid speaking in their native language. They should only speak in French, so they're not penalized in comparison with the other children.

However, I do have a lot of relatives living in Europe, most of them live in France (the largest Vietnamese community in Europe is in France, especially since Vietnam was a former French colony). It is somewhat true that in France, assimilation is more encouraged (even to the possible detriment of forgetting one’s ethnic roots).

As a French person I can tell you her accent is typically French many girls have the "same low" voice as her. Also what is the "ck" sound? We don't really use this sound in our language.
Her saying she wants to eat rice is so real. That’s like one of the biggest things I picked up from my family. Saying eat rice is like saying come to eat the meal too

@@jmgonzales7701 I know I’m not obligated to learn, but I want to. I begged my dad to teach me Tagalog and Kapampangan but he’s similar to other older Filipino immigrants. He wanted me to assimilate as an American. I don’t agree with him though. As for my immigrant mom, it was difficult to teach me Vietnamese properly because English is the only common language my household has. I do have a basic understanding of Vietnamese and speak very little of it but I plan on learning more once I finish my master’s.
