It is written that a baby landed on earth in a spaceship after his planet was destroyed , and now he protects the city of Metropolis with his super powers.
Before running into a TL;DR situation, I started reading the Bible, out of pure curiosity, and I will say this, it's one hell of a story. But religion? Pah! that's foolish.
Without Christianity we would live in a great world where we wouldn't have to make fun of their batshit crazy beliefs and could move forward in technology, science, and human rights.
it baffles me anyone would vote this down. thank you for posting this. i am trying hard not to comment on these but do folks really need to get all into their bible thumping on a nofx song called "blasphemy"? with all due respect, this isn't fucking sunday school. cheers.
If humanity didn't exist, neither would any religion. That's the thing - we ~all~ cling to beliefs. Sometimes, its in a deity. Other time, its a nation. Shit gets really intense when we try and support even more tangible ideas like "freedom", "liberty" and even so mething like "equality".
Yeah, math could happen without religion, but what's being referring to is the fact that most of advances in math were done by people where religion played a major part in their lives. Because for a long time the only people who had enough education to do the math were clergy members or those on the path to become a clergy member (such as Sir Isaac Newton, who wanted to become a clergy member originally.)
i believe in god and just listend to this cause i was curious...personally not too offended tho tbh...wonder how insecure someone has to be in their religious feelings to get angry about this...
As a counter point, NOFX is a political punk band that started in 1983 during Ronald Reagan's presidency so the root of their anger is directed at the Christian right. Fat Mike could be insecure a little, but the angry is rooted from political reasons.
paintball164 political reasons aren't his only motivation against religion he writes the lyric "my intelligence has been insulted so my tongue lashes out in defense " like A LOT of us atheists it's not political anymore it's gone straight personal.
vaping Otter well its people like u nobody can look at without thinking there is something wrong with them if because they feel the need to insult people they never met.plus I daresay u are a coward since u wouldn't dare to say those things into my face so here is the idea how about u deal with those mental health issues u clearly have or get itself some friends so u can have some fun instead of trying to ruin others moods?
“This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it. John Adams, U.S. President” ― George Washington, Quotes on the Dangers of Religion Remember that the next time an idiot says this country was founded on religion, the truth about what our founding fathers thought about religion right there, in words as clear as glass.
All I have to remember is that they owned people. Regardless of religion, owning people makes you a piece of shit in my view. They are not my founding fathers.
My point is that a lot of tea party people and right wing conservatives like to make appeals to authority regarding our country being founded on "Judeo Christian" values. Not only are they guilty of fallacy, their fallacy is wrong and misguided. "our" was not a good choice of a word, perhaps "this countrys". Regardless of how you feel, if it wasn't for them, you wouldn't have the freedoms you enjoy today. If you want to get technical about culture, human sacrifice is just as fowl.
Alfredo Rodriguez Although not generally recognized as one of the main founders, Thomas Paine (and hes by far my favorite of amongst them) was on the right side of slavery. Its commonly accepted no one attended his funeral because of his stance on religion and slavery.
@@AlfredoRodriguez-mn6lz they are founding fathers, founding fathers that owed people. Can't change history because you don't agree with the way it was done.
I'm not Atheist. I believe in God as an abstract figure, I have no idea whether there's an after life or not and I don't pretend to know, but if there is a Hell I don't see why making a joke would send you there. Whether a person's bad or not should be based on the life they lived not the jokes they made.
Shocking I know, but I don't believe in circles or Gods. Why circles? There are an abstract concept that don't manifest in reality. Circles are a way of describing what we see on paper. However nothing is reality is 2D. The lead on the page isn't a flat. I just stacks up so low that looks flat to our unaided eyes. Circles are theoretical based on our visual perception. Not something in reality you can point too. Abstract things don't exist either. So you have put God by your own admission into a category of things that don't actually exist. And that there is certainly not evidence for.
I'd like this song better if I could make out the lyrics without having to reading them. As for asking if god has a plan B, that is a really terrific double entendre.
Assuming that Christianity not existing doesn't change ANYTHING else in time stream (like our nation even being FOUNDED!), we would all be the religion of either the Ancient Celtics (the original inhabitants of the modern-day UK) or follow the Polytheistic Religion of Rome.
and if its wasn't for Christianity we would be hundreds of years more advanced the call em the dark ages for a reason which in case you didn't know was when everyone was religious most turned to your deity
No you are. You live your life reading one book. That is how you live your life by what that one book tells you is right. Personally, I don't believe everything I read, call me crazy, but I like to find things out for myself. What doe's the bible say about talking shit on the internet? Go ahead and look it up, I'll wait.
Out of control Religion where members try to convert non-members to their religion is the bane of society. If it's not immoral, one's beliefs are one's beliefs, just don't try to convert everybody else to the same beliefs.
If willow watson hear and like Last Resort from Papa Roach, will she commit suicide? Hear a music and agree with the lyrics are diferent things... I'm a christian and a like the music very much. I do not agree with lyrics. over.
To anyone saying they are a devout Christian but still love the song: If you don't burn whole towns just because non believers live there then you are automatically heretic. Tough shit is this thing is mentioned in the old testament... And new testament says anyone who changes even a comma of the old (or new) is a heretic. So no. None of you are actually Christians. No one of you believes that a sinner living in a city makes all other residents sinners. No sane person condones slavery and buying rape victims from their fathers as compensation. You all just follow propaganda. You are just controlled, being shown the tame side of Christianity cause it's truth is just horrid.
No we wouldn't. Some of us don't believe in religion now, what makes you think we would believe regardless of your time stream? This isn't Christians mingle dude.
Of course we do. Otherwise we become the kind of soulless jackasses that recommend nuking Africa to solve overpopulation. Science without morals or respect for life is a frightening thing, and you can't create a functioning set of morals via science. Science calls love a chemical reaction and strips kindness to the bone.
I got that from a creepy nuclear physicist who worked at Sandia Labs back in the sixties. There were a lot of those types, the ones who acted like science WAS a religion and that there was going to be a unified field theory that made art and literature and everything interesting obsolete. The problem with science-based thinking is that religious nutcases can't blow us all up using only the power of religion. Scientific nutcases can combine ClF3 with FOOF to see what happens, or nearly kill off all known plant life because they didn't bother to use actual dirt when testing how their new GMO reacts in the real world.
MySerpentine Just fucking stop arguing already! We came for music and not for some spiritual bullshit here. If we truly need something, that would be common sense and less hypocrisy and ignorance!
