    • @robertriteman3227
      @robertriteman3227 ปีที่แล้ว

      We actually have that mechanism available. It appears the currrent government does want to implement them now . They deserve the criticism they have received for draggig their feet but a public inquiry is not the mechanism nor will it be beneficial for a host of reasons with the most obvious one being that it will not being effective because all parties will engage in partisan politics over the best interests of Canada. I note that the UK, Australia , France etc, have all been exposed to similar foreign interference and did not conduct public inquries. The special reporter appointed is a Jurist and past Governor General ( appointed by Stephen Harper) with an impecable reputation and who will be able to recommend a public inquiry if he feels it is appropriate. ,In addition, there is the path of having NSICOP investigate and make recommendations and in addition it can work with NSIRA. Again, it is disingenuous for anyone to claim that the CPC would place the best interests of Canada over its own quest to take power in the next election (and vice versa for the Liberals if the roles were reversed). Part of the reason that NSICOP & NSIRA exist is to address these type of matters. Both the Liberals and the CPC engage in the charade of demanding public inquries when in opposition simply for partisan political reasons and not in the best interests of Canada .

      No many do not. Only partisan CPC/Trudeau haters can complain about Special Reporter Johnson as in the legal community he has an impeccable reputation and his previous appointment as Governor General had been by Stephen Harper . He is not beholding to the Liberals in any respect. In addition, there is the path of having NSICOP investigate and make recommendations and in addition it can work with NSIRA. Again, it is disingenuous for anyone to claim that the CPC would place the best interests of Canada over its own quest to take power in the next election (and vice versa for the Liberals if the roles were reversed). Part of the reason that NSICOP & NSIRA exist is to address these type of matters. Let the CPC and its leader show that they really have the best interests of Canada in mind rather than partisan politics and support Johnson, NSICOP and NSIRA. Of course they will not and they and the Liberals can continue the same cycle of taking turns in power every 7-9 years and carrying out the same circle jerk.
