You may hate on that coral and white hat, but where I'm from in Canada, we would consider that a great toque that would keep your head warm on cold winter days. Beautiful work!

“just jump in the deep end” is really good advice when it comes to crochet. i started crocheting a massive sweater without knowing how to crochet at all and it really forced me to just go for it and learned as i went. to this day i think thats the biggest crochet project i ever did and after that everything else felt so easy

I LOVE THIS. I wish I had her advice when I started teaching myself when I was about 15. I gave up then but as a old married woman of 21, I did give it a try. Hubby worked grave shift and there wasn't a lot to do, so I decided to try the crochet thing again. That was 1971, and " I was "hooked ". She is so right stick with it. There are a lot of tutorials, unlike when I started. It brings a lot out in you. You take a piece of yarn and use the magic inside you and that piece of yarn or thread becomes something that no one else can produce (even using the same stuff). When you do a project for someone you add the element of your love. Sorry (no I'm not) about going on and on. Keep going.

as someone who has been crocheting for 15+ years i just want to let you know the progress youve made over the year is really phenomenal! Especially going into larger projects so early is really amazing you should be proud! I will say holding onto your first swatches and a few of your first projects will come to mean a lot in a few years its great to show yourself the progress youve made and how youve grown! I hope you keep crocheting and learning and wish you the best 👍

Thank you for showing the little swatches and ‘fessing up to “lots of fails at first”. This is so heartening to us who have no natural knack.

Tip for beginners: watch lots of videos, even of stuff you think is too advanced for you. You can pick up skills and knowledge like this and before you know it you can put that knowledge together to make several different things

I’m a beginner and I’ve been wanting to make a granny square sweater with granny squares that have fruits on them and stuff. And cute sweater vests. I think I’m just going to go for it!
I started off with finger knitting with bigger yarn and I’ve noticed that it helped me recognize what chains look like and practice tension. I made my baby a blanket with finger knitting and noticed I made it too tight. Tension is the hardest things for me to learn right now.

Im also new to crochet and I feel you so much lmfao I've never done a gauge swatch as well for some reason and I don't think I ever will. Anyways I know that this video is 7 months old but if anyone is looking for affordable + good quality yarns I highly recommend DROPS yarns! They have amazing wool yarns which I used for beanies + a lot of cheap cotton yarns, and they have beautiful colors!

I also started in February! But I've only made crop tops & a beanie so far. And 1 pair of shorts. I'm hoping to try a sweater soon. Your stuff is so good!

Love your channel. I've been crocheting for a few months now and starting to get to that point where I feel I have enough skills under my belt to be creative. So far I've made a blanket (made the same mistake as you with your hat - chunky yarn that made it super heavy and expensive to make... might end up using it as a rug!) scarves, almost finished a sock and I've started my first intarsia sweater vest (inspired by Fancy Dinosaur Tea Party's Christmas sweater) mashing up a few tutorials to make my own design. Exciting to see what I can create. Going to try your beanie tutorial soon, maybe as a scrap yarn project.
Look forward to seeing more videos from you

Wash cloths are a great way to play around with stitches. They should be made of cotton as they tend not to hold in microbes. Buy the cheap ugly colours for this because who cares what they look like. Another fun thing to do, to learn how to read patterns is look for Amigurumi patterns (little stuffed animals)
