I think the the poetic edda song itself benifits a TON from the video. The 4 parts thing kinda sells it, at least from my perspective. Totally get the mix thing tho, more blackened for sure.
I second this. The song itself feels like it has weird breaks if you're not watching the video. It still slaps, but it kills its own momentum with the transitions.
So the classical music from Winter is Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. That movement is the most recognizable one but funny enough each song is based off a movement from the Four Seasons. I think it’s a neat base to make an ep off of
I just want to say that I love your opinion. Your professional and tell us how you really feel. you don't sugar coat stuff because you think that it will deter views. Love from Uganda.
The first single released for this was I, The Devourer in June of last year. The title track was released in September and then it took them like half a year to release the whole thing. Maybe thats the reason why the title track sounds different. Or they just wanted to make it sound different for the fact that it is the titletrack. Anyways, probably my favorite EP this year
Just a fun fact, the riff that starts at 3:09 in Winter is actually pretty much the same riff as the last riff in Death Empress before the huge breakdown at the end (2:25)
You are the only other person I have seen mention the 'diesese' thing lmao. I thought I was the only one that noticed. This may be my EPoty though and I fell off of symphonic/blackened stuff minus Lorna a while ago.
It’s neoclassical deathcore. Imagine children of bodom, heavier and faster, who I think also did a version of the four seasons? Or one of them, I can’t remember lol
So the version you listened to for the title track had itself editing off, the original track is on SLAM WORLDWIDE I'm pretty sure and it's mixing is like the others. Maybe find the video for it and it'll change your opinion of the track.
Another fantastic reaction as usual. Personally I love this kind of stuff but I know it's not everyone's cup o tea. 'Whatever floats your boat' as they say lol.
When college level music composition and theory meets Deathcore. Drums are 100% programmed AF. I doubt Aaron Kitcher could play this live. Unfortunately, like Infant Annihilator, we won’t ever see them on tour unless it’s just 2 guys playing guitars and vocals
It really shows it's an amazing EP, because everyone has different favorites, I can't even choose. For me "I, The Devourer" was the weakest and I'm still listening to it everyday. My only complaint about this EP is that breakdown at the end of "Winter" felt unnecessary, and I'm a breakdown guy. I liked it, but it felt unnecessary, up until that point that music is literal perfection
that’s actually the first valid criticism i’ve heard of this EP. thematically it would’ve been quite fitting if winter had a quiter ending, since it’s about the aftermath about a war, a breakdown that comes to mind is “everything is quiet now”, which the breakdown is actually quite soft compared to the rest of the song
@@RichardJanvrinYT where would this comment make sense otherwise? I watched till you said that. Glad you got credit for a full watch, I hate TH-cam way more than I dislike you.
The mixing on the title track is very weird like you said. Not to say it’s bad, but it definitely doesn’t sound as good as the first two songs in my opinion. Like even the impacts don’t hit as hard as they do in the first two songs.
I did like this EP but i do feel like it is a bit over rated from what a lot of people are saying. But that just might be personal taste. This isnt my favorite style deathcore as well. So there's that. And yes, the mixing is kinda ass. First 2 tracks were cool, the last 2 were meh. Good overall but not much replay value for me personally. 6.5/10
we all have our own opinions, I for one can find very few flaws in this EP. and I’d like to argue that it’s under rated. The mixing is very impactful. I understand the critique on the title tracks mixing feeling a bit off, but I find it still suits the overall theme very nicely. only main critique I have is I don’t think every song had to end in a breakdown, but it’s a small critique, more of a nitpick. but yeah, to each their lwn. it’s a 9.5/10 imo

Agreed
Hi Rich!! Fun fact: These guys are all young people no older than 24 years old. We have a future! Greetings from Argentina!
Blake is I think 18
@@shura_screams blake is 24
This is my EP of the year. Nothing gonna beat it.

This is the best one i've heard this year. DEATH EMPRESS IS LEGENDERY.

The last part of Winter makes it feel like the whole world is about to collapse
Just a fun fact, the riff that starts at 3:09 in Winter is actually pretty much the same riff as the last riff in Death Empress before the huge breakdown at the end (2:25)
Winter is such a masterpiece
The weapons used to be the instruments now it is the vocals oddly
Unreal EP, nastiest breakdowns ive heard in a long time. Absolutely epic.
Love their sound.
Thanks for sharing once again Richard.
Ive watched the death empress vid i dont know how many times and never caught that mispelling lol
I NEED MORE MUSIC LIKE THIS!!!

I gotta your opinions i respect even i dont entirely agree but i love how your honest and like trying to go around it, i love you bro
Now you gotta check out Disembodied Tyrant's EP from 2022 'The Divine Stigmata'. It's almost as good as this one.
it’s super underrated fr, blake is such a good vocalist
Winter. Vivaldi reborn 😎

Also prospectives new song cold, and their last album “reasons to leave” was my AOTY great listen
"Not a big shadow of intent fan."
Well have we got something to mention to you lol
Why would that change anything?
Nothing is touching this one this year
Hyped for this one !🔥 😈
Actually This is masterpiece
Lorna should just stay quiet after this masterpiece

"Let me react to music"
Vivaldi who ?
You just made me fall in love with another band. Like you said it feels lorna/sots esq.. but it has a different feeling too it

Full band is touring now, so there's that.
best in the business
You GOTTA react to Larcenia Roe's "ALIENATION". Legit one of the most oppressively disgusting songs ive ever heard.
Should react to the new Ocean Grove track. Nice Nu-metal flavour to it.
The off song sounds like Immortal by Lorna lol

I hate the comparison with Lorna Shore, especially as CJ is out 😅
Lmao. Not a fan of Lorna shore or shadow of intent, yet I should watch your reaction?

I the devourer is my favorite deathcore song in so long. The other songs on the EP I dont like nearly as much
the breakdown on devourer is nasty asf, love it
Great reaction, can you check out sun eaters new song Moira?
First lets goo🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Non è pretty cool, è Vivaldi
