I’ll always cherish the fact that Vin Scully was a Giants fan as a kid, and as such, hearing him call these national broadcasts is a dream come true. Thanks for these uploads!
It’s wild to watch baseball lineups from the 80’s vs now. Where Ozzie Smith types bat 2nd to sacrifice, productive outs to move runners up, obp table setters for 3-4-5 spots. Now it’s like Mike Trout Shohei in the 2-hole I grew up between Chicago and Denver (then HS age moved to LA) so I was a White Sox and Cubs guy and Denver Zephyrs minor league affiliate until the Blake Street Bombers came into being (boy wasn’t that a blast! Big Cat, Bichette, Castilla, Burks, Walker). But yeah I remember the “Shawn-o-meter” for Dunston’s batting average (hopefully above mendoza line lol) and the cubs acquired The Hawk Andre Dawson. Sandberg Grace Leon Duhram RonCey. Playing little league and emulating different guys batting styles. Gary Sheffield was a big favorite of mine. Griffey Jr. of course. A young A-Rod All those Braves of the 90’s-Ricky Henderson and Vince Coleman stealing 100 bases! Willie McGee Strawberry and Doc Gooden Keith Hernandez smoking cigarettes in the dugout lmao! Baseball was awesome!
I did too. I was 10 and was absolutely crushed after Atlee got bombed in game 7 and they lost the series. I had the same feeling after I boarded the ferry after game 5 of the 2002 World Series.
Spencer Stewart when the Giants lost game 6 in 87 and 2002 I knew it was over. That's the 2 most heartbreaking games. I wish Mike Krukow started game 7.
@@MikeNolan I still hate the Cardinals to this day. I can vividly remember after game 6 and being on the verge of tears, my dad saying "They can still win it tomorrow". I looked at him and said "They're not going to win tomorrow". Just the way they lost that game, you just knew the Angels were going to win it. Although, if I remember correctly, they did take an early lead in the first or second [I think} in game 7. Those two postseason losses are up there for sure. Some honorable mentions have got to be Benny Agbayani's home run in the 2000 NLDS. The following game {4} where they got absolutely shut down by junk ball pitcher Bobby Jones {who threw 85 mph fastballs} or the recent meltodown by the Giants pen at Wrigley in 2016. Another one that is pretty high on the list for me is game 3 of the 2003 NLDS where Jose Cruz Jr. dropped a routine flyball off the bat of Conine and they lost in 11 I think. It's kinda funny that you always remember the losses much more than the wins.
Spencer Stewart I’m still angry the Giants blew game 4 vs. Cubs. It’s even made it worse the Cubs fans took over the park. And the Cubs celebrated on the field. And in 2000 I thought the Giants were better than the Mets. And Jose Cruz jr. not only couldn’t hit in that series, but his error cause the giants that series. Your comment brings bad Giants memories 😭

I remember watching this as a 10 year old boy only to be heart broken a couple days later
I remember keeping score of both games on Sunday.
Cards were tough and really knew how to win, they had a mental edge on cards after bean ball incidents
If Jack Clark and Terry Pendleton didn’t get injured, they would have won the World Series.
@@travismcdonald6576 Agree! The Twins were lucky and the Homer dome played a factor.
Remember the Kevin Mitchell bare handed catch!?
When the Giants won this game. I was thinking the Giants are going to the World Series.

Also Kevin Brown kept the Giants from going to the World Series in 1997🤦🏻♂️
Why did Vin and Joe huddle so close and share a mic?
It was most likely a small booth they were working in and they also had to get close for the camera.
NLCS game starting when the sun is still shining don’t see that anymore
Except for Jeffrey Leonard the SF Giants choked !! SHUTOUT in both games 6 and 7.
