    Are you new to E-Bikes or E-MTB? If not what would you suggest to someone who has just started? Let them know 👇

    I bought the Ergon seat, as you have recommended it before. It is absolutely fantastic on my Rail.

    Great tips. I'd add (I searched the comments but could see it - sorry if I'm repeating..) whether you're riding an E or an analogue MTB - a spare Mech Hanger. They're frame specific and if you snap one in the middle of nowhere... it's a VERY long ride home in single-speed mode, or worse... walking. Not expensive, but definitely worth having a spare... and remembering to put in your backpack!

    I'm glad Chris has mentioned the disc pads to be sintered, I've not thought anything else is as good 👍

    A bit late to the party. But my Atera XL tow bar mounted carrier does a great job of carrying two e-bikes with the batteries removed. Also it’s not a lot of amps passing through. But if using a cable reel to charge your battery. It’s probably a good idea to use it unwound to avoid overheating.

    Hello Chris, does the Evoc E-Bike backpack fit a Specialized Kenevo battery? Or does it stick out of the backpack because it is longer than a normal Bosch or Shimano battery? Thank you.

    I think you should have specifically called out a helmet as a major piece of gear that everyone should have.

    can anyone recommend a good hub gearing for emtb? i want to try belt drive with internal hub gearing. lower maintenance. as for transporting it i am lucky my car just happens to be big enough to fit my bike into it with a lot of room to spare. in terms of timers why bother? if you cant trust a modern non no name charger you cant possibly trust some cheap timer. that is more likely to cause the house fire. do you charge your phone on a timer? no? same thing with the ebike

    Don't forget to lock your bike up with the biggest locks! Spend hundreds to secure it! Nothing stops the diegrinder, but the lack of time. I put an airtag on my bike too.

    This video is all a bit doom & gloom, major expenses before you even turn a wheel... upgrades and trail side mishaps - incentive enough to just stay home, safe & dry, saving money... most e-bikes I see already have seats & adequate brakes, esp. for beginners such as this video is aimed at...

    • @embn
      @embn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi David, there are a few basic items here that will really help beginners save money or have a better riding experience. Some of the items such as the battery holding bag will only appeal to people who have already purchased a bike with an extra battery. Chris just mentioned that because it's much safer. Having a battery in a regular backpack could be an issue if the battery was swinging around the whole time.

    Can we please stop the nonsense with the timers. Do you use a timer for charging your phone, AA batteries ect?
    Can you name ANY ebike charger that doesnt shuf of by itself? Every batteri/bike has built in bms to prevent over charge and discharge
    If you really want get a wall socket with wifi, this way you can keep the bike at around 50% charge level, but start the charge from anywhere, and have it topped of in about 2 hours.
    Theres also a timer fucktion to start and stop the charge, so you can charge at night ect with most wifi versions.

    Just like these electric cars the batteries will only last 5 yrs ...Then what...I know anouther new bike and the old one of to land fill...

    • @BartekBartosiak
      @BartekBartosiak 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Battery degradation is inevitable, granted, but you can’t place a time label on it. It all depends on the number of cycles of charge/discharge not number of years. And even if you used up all the number of max charge/discharge on your battery, they are replaceable and cost less than a “solely human-powered” bikes. Do you throw away everything that’s powered by batteries when they run out? Surely it’s cheaper to replace only the battery?

    • @BartekBartosiak
      @BartekBartosiak 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevecrump1375 why 5 years? The batteries will be at their 100% capacity for at least 10,000 cycles. That’s 10,000 times you completely discharge so down to 0% and charge to maximu. That’s about 10,000 times you go out on a bike ride. Even if you go for a ride everyday and the ride will be long enough to discharge your bike to 0%, this battery will last 10,000 days (that’s 27 years) at its 100% capacity. However it doesn’t mean it will be no good anymore. It will only reduce its full capacity so you can still use it, but. For a shorter ride. So you will simply get bored with your bike way before that battery dies completely. So to answer your question, and it’s of course very objective opinion, but arguably purely logical in its reason - yes. It would be viable, but your bike won’t last this long if you were to ride it everyday for at least 35km on average on a mountain trails.
