  • Tongue and groove joinery with a biscuit jointer. I had this idea for a while, so I wanted to try it! This wasn't part of any project. I haven't seen this done before by anyone, so I hope I brought something new to the woodworking community.

    I wondered if you could make a groove like this with a biscuit joiner. This was the only video I could find on it, brilliant! Thinking it would be possible to make a wider groove on thicker wood by flipping the board over and making two or more passes.

    Really nice watching someone as talented as you are.
    2 things
    Why not just cut the grooves with the table saw?
    And, speaking of your table saw, you need to make yourself a zero clearance insert :)

    • @szilardpinter
      @szilardpinter  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      oobaka1967 thank you! Yes I could make with the table saw, or the router table, but this video was about exploring new or different options.
      And "thinking outside the box"!
      Insert plate would be a good idea, unfortunately the recess is very shallow maybe 3mm

    • @oobaka1967
      @oobaka1967 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shame about the shallowness. I have the same issue.
      Regardless...thanks for taking the time to show us different options on how to make some tongue and groove boards. I may be making some soon and I was a bit stumped on an easy and efficient way to make the tongues. Now I know.
      Thanks again. Glad I subscribed.

    the Erbauer biscuit jointer - how've you found it? Any complaints?
    Nearly all the 'Screwfix' reviews are positive, but there are a handful of
    negative comments - most seem to be about the accuracy of the fence / ability to
    set up accurate cuts... ? ? ?

    • @szilardpinter
      @szilardpinter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nelson rivera the drill press is way too underpowered, I wish I bought a bigger one! The fence is far from good, but usable. Plastic handles braking sometimes!
      I need some serious upgrade, just haven't got the money yet! 🙂

    • @nelsonrivera2543
      @nelsonrivera2543 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Szilard Pinter i will buy a 500watt drill press i think is good enough for woodworking and for the thickness jointer fence i put it MDF, is way better this way

    Szilard Pinter Great Idea, do you think using the table saw would be better for larger job?

    • @szilardpinter
      @szilardpinter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hugo Bose thank you! If you can put on a dado blade probes! We can't use one in the UK. If I need wider groove is less pass with the biscuit jointer because the blade is ticker. In both cases fence need to be adjusted anyway!
      But you know: there are many ways to get to the same result, this was one of them! Quick and easy I think.

    • @hugobose2254
      @hugobose2254 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I know about My Homeland lol Yes I'm in the UK/England about dado stax but if you rotate the piece around it will cut both sides so it will be in the middle

    • @szilardpinter
      @szilardpinter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hugo Bose thanks I know that! I'm not that stupid. But if if you think about it you can do the exact same thing with a biscuit jointer as well! Turn the piece around and make a cut from both sides! But like I said we can come up with many different solutions and get the same result. I just showed one of them which works well for me.
      I hope that's except able.
      All the best Szilard
