    David, I really like the direction you moved to with your channel! Your personality, style, and creativity are much more unrestrained, and you're free to be your best self now that you have someone to help you so you don't have to spend so much effort on the filming directly! Keep them coming!

      You can get precut blank jigsaw puzzles from various places. I get them through bulk t-shirt blank suppliers, but you can find them on Amazon, too. Attach the photo the same way, then recut by hand using a jeweler's saw (these are not very expensive).

    • @brandondaniels9471
      @brandondaniels9471 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, as a photographer myself, it begs the question: How many of these puzzles would I have to sell, and at what price, in order to break event on the engraver? It can probably be done in a matter of time.

    There was just a discussion over on the woodtalk forums on how woodworkers are more willing to share their knowledge and how photography forums are all about gear instead of being better at photography. Cool that you mixed in a little talking about how you made the photograph better.

    I've made puzzles for the last 3 years on a scroll saw. clearly it takes a lot of time and patience to ensure a proper fit. the majority of the wood projects you have done are within the scope of the tools I have. I don't own a $5K laser cutter so I guess I am stuck with an old method.
    note of advice....if using a scroll saw, you should make 2 puzzles at once with the pictures facing each other on the inside of the cut to minimize tear out. works 75% of the time due to blade and speed issues.

    Watched your video on the notebooks you did on the laser and that prompted me to find a local MakerSpace. FOUND ONE! This is a great project. Curious how long the puzzle took to cut out on the laser. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing.

    HDR is easy to overdo, you struck a great balance and made the photo hyperreal and not overdone. Wonderful restraint! This is a great video.

    • @MakeSomething
      @MakeSomething  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! You are right about it being easy to overdo. I actually made this HDR photo about 5 years ago and when I look at it now I think I did slightly overdo it. But more than anything, when I look at the photo I remember walking down that road. Thanks for watching!

    • @fiveletters
      @fiveletters 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply, David! I used to cringe a little when I looked at my early HDR photos, but now I think of HDR as documenting the memory of a scene and not the reality of it.
