Do you have seals in Connemara? That looks like a seal bite to me. Thanks for sharing this very successful session with us. Chris (Maine USA)

Hi i love your videos. I was just wondering how you pick your spots to go fishing. Now im not looking for your locations im just wondering if you use Google maps or good old-fashioned paper maps. Keep the videos coming and stay safe.

Thanks Nigel. Yeah google maps.. looking for ledges with what looks like deep water and somewhere to park nearby.

I also use the Windy app before I head to a rock mark to check the wind as well as the waves option. Make sure it’s safe. I’ll also go back to a mark a few times on different tides.

Great video :) a little advice would be appreciated, i'm moving to connemara for a few months, do you know any lakes you can fish for free without a permit/license? Fisheries ive looked at tend to be pricey

Sorry for not getting in touch. No idea about lakes/rivers and I mainly only do sea fishing. I’m sure you can find info online www.fisheriesireland.ie/

Sorry man I don’t give out that online.. use google maps and look for big rocky ledges.. stay away from piers and obvious places with car parks.

An bhfuil Corr Uaine síos i gConamara? Is Iascaire as Mhaigh Eo mé. Iascann mé i Fionnuisce agus Na Muir. Tá Mángach, Glasán, Turbard, Corr Uaine, Ronnach, leathóg, halibó agus madra mara againn. Tá na Mángach mór freisin ach tá na réalta Mhaigh Eo an Glasán, Halibó agus Corr Uaine. Chonaic mé Tuinníní mór amach gConamara agus tá siad an-mór. Ba bhreá liom iascaireacht a dhéanamh i gConamara lá éigin

Had to get my wife to help translate =) Not too much garfish around Connemara I've had one last year and have seen loads of them jumping down in Clare when bass fishing. Also had some chase lures on Inisheer. I don't do much flat fishing these days (turbot, flounder, plaice) though I used to up near Lettergesh Beach on bait with great success. It's mostly pollock and wrasse I'm after in South Connemara. Maybe one day with the heaters warming we might get some of those big tuna coming close to shore.

      @@WildAtlanticLureFishingIreland Ó tá brón orm 🤣
      I'll write this in English
We've loads up here in Mayo. The Garfish follow the Mackerel in so they can generally be found everywhere the mackerel is. I personally have never fished in Conamara, have only ever gone down for days out. I'll have to go down for some fishing some day. And I'd too also love some big Conamara Tuna.
If your ever in Mayo Clew Bay you can catch anything but the most sought after fish is the Coalfish. Garfish, Pollack, Conger, all sorts of flatfish ect can be caught there too. Béal an Mhuirthead is great for Halibut. Acaill Island is pollack, sea trout and Tuna. And out ar out the islands you can catch all the fish I mentioned in my first comment

Bheadh suim agamsa Halibó a iascach ón gcósta. An bhfuil eolas agat ar áiteanna difriúla agus cén tám den bhliain is fearr? Cloisim go dtaithníon fuacht leo so seans gur i mí Eanair nó thart ar an áma sin os fearr? Feicim go bhfuil freagra na ceiste a chur tú i dtús báire fáighte agat ón dream eile a dfhreagair. Rud eile gur fiú a rá ná go mbíonn Trosc isteach ar an gcósta i gConnamara sa nGeimhreidh. Beir Bua.

Is fear Maigh Eo mé mar sin tá fhios agam Mhaigh Eo an fearr. Ach tá aimsíodh siad suas an cósta san Geimhreadh. Tá uisce fuar is fearr, Halibó cosúil le Glasán, tar isteach an cladach san Geimhreadh. Bíodh Maigh Eo, Sligeach, Liatroim agus Dún na nGall go leor halibut mór agat.
