Luis as a Chicagoan I agree that some of these tourist attractions are worth it and others are not.

Loved the title tourist traps….whether they’re worth it or not. This video was fun 😊

I was born and raised in Chicago and I really enjoy Millenium Park and Navy Pier. One can take for granted the beautiful spaces Chicago has built once you've visited small towns and mid sized cities. The park is well planned, well maintained and has lots of space to walk and play. I accompanied my out of town aunts to the park and the bean last week at night. The christmas lights and tree was beautiful. You see people ice skating. Everyone looked like they were having fun taking pictures and hanging around.

I went to Chicago last weekend, and millennium park is (in my opinion) one of the prettiest parks in the city. The trees, flowers and shrubs are all so well maintained. Also, I’m from the countryside and being able to see some trees for a bit is what kept me sane in the city 😂

Visited Chicago 4 times between 2002-2004, while courting my then girlfriend and now wife. We got married on my 2nd trip at Chicago City Hall in the Winter of 2002/2003. She moved back to the UK with me in August 2003. We visited the following year. Not been back. There was plenty we never did and I suspect its not the Chicago I remember after 20-22 years. I have no idea if I will ever go back but it will also be special as I spent time with my wife.

Apple stores have free classes, and Apple Michigan Ave has an architectural photography class. You can use your own stuff, or they'll loan you an iPhone. They don't care if you're on Android. You get like five minutes of theory, then you're outside. Rooftops, lobbies, cool angles on details, technique, nice river views. It was pretty awesome. Tip: If you borrow a device, think about how you'll get your photos off at the end - maybe a temp email account or something that can get an Airdrop?

    Thanks for sharing these insights/tips.
I've been to Naperville and Rosemount a few times but never downtown.
I'll be staying at the Hilton Chicago for a conference at the end of this month. It'll be interesting to be in town for a whole week.

I still can’t believe Crate & Barrel sold that beautiful store, they built, to Starbucks. At least Starbucks didn’t change it much.
I always preferred “Big John” to the Sears Tower. I do like the bean, and the gardens at Millennium Park are very pretty. Great way to learn about native plants, but you have to be a garden person. Pretty way to see the skyscrapers above the flowers, too.
So glad you didn’t get a cake shake at Portillos. I did that by accident once. Disgusting! They have a great chocolate shake, just don’t add the cake.
The Shakespeare Theater at Navy Pier is fabulous. Great theater space, and almost everything I have seen there has been quite good.

Metric coffee is hands down my favorite coffee roaster. No lie I do enjoy the Starbucks coffee reserve but would not go more than once a year unless I have family or friends from out of town.

Thanks for this video! I haven’t spent much time in the city over the past year, so I definitely feel like a tourist when I do visit.
I have an idea: how about a “crosstown challenge”? People from different parts of the city, who primarily stay in their own area or just have their own reasons for not venturing out, swap places with someone else and tour, dine, etc. Great way to capture one of the most important aspects of Chicago: the people! Kind of like a couple swap meets Check, Please. Lol.

This Starbucks was near my hotel, and I wouldn't say I liked it. Usually, I try and find a small coffee shop to go to because this place always has a line.

love your videos! have you two been to the nutella cafe in chicago? i tried to go a few months ago buuuut the line was out the door down the street so unfortunately i did not have the time to visit but it's on my list! i'm sure it's overhyped but these type of touristy places are fun to visit at least once 😂

I went a few years back on a day when there was less of a crowd! I don't have vivid memories of my experience but I know for sure that I enjoyed my food and drink. It's nice if you have a place to sit. Like most touristy/gimmick restaurants, it probably won't blow your mind and you could probably get something similar somewhere else, but if you have the time, I don't see why not!

We live in Seattle and the Reserve Roastery here is so crazy busy all the time (not worth it when there are so many other amazing coffee and tea shops throughout the city). That said, my husband loves the whisky cold brew drink too. Thanks for sharing these touristy spots!
