I lived in a foreign students dorm in Odaiba in my first two years in Tokyo. That time, that place was empty and I could only remember the Venus Fort. Now, there's already a lot of buildings around.
Interesting to hear how it is as a resident. I remember looking up at some of the apartments there when I was taking an ice cream break once! As a tourist, there's lots to do now although that might not always be so interesting if you live there. The seaside's lovely on a sunny day though.
It's an interesting place that's different to the rest of the city! Some of the places in this video have closed now, but there are some new places that have opened too. Venus Fort, the shopping mall in the video, is being turned into a mystery escape room sort of experience!
They're very close together. That part of Tokyo has a different feel to the rest of the city - much more spacious. There's some stunning architecture, it feels very modern and of course the beautiful views of Tokyo bay.
I was studying abroad in Japan, a few months ago, and when I took a trip to Tokyo during one of my breaks, Odaiba was one of the places I went to. I was going to Tokyo to visit the Studio Ghibli Museum, but Odaiba ended up being my favorite part of that trip. It really does have a different feel!
I was there in July and it's a very different feel to Tokyo. Very chilled and relaxed with a feeling of space. Great place just to wander about after some time feeling crowded in the rest of Tokyo
Thanks Amy and Phil! We are flying to Tokyo on Tuesday and were planning to go to Odaiba on the first full day too! Love your channel. Our first trip! We have been watching you for a year. So excited!!!
Thank you ever so much for mentioning the shuttle bus, we are in Tokyo from next week and I have planned 2 full days in Odaiba, one of my kids has some mobility problems so the shuttle bus is really useful, I didn't know it existed!
Ah glad to be of help! :-) There are actually some other free buses too: jw-webmagazine.com/absolutely-useful-5-free-bus-services-in-tokyo-28d9496a4bbc/
Thank you for sharing this video of Tokyo. Though I live in Tokyo myself, I've been given a project with the Tokyo Tourism Bureau and Kanto Tourism Agency to look into revamping guides into Tokyo and the surrounds. I draw inspiration from many content creators and draw upon them for some popular and hidden gems and watching your small snippet of your experiences gives me a few ideas to storyboard and then create the official guides. Thank you so much and I hope you remain safe during this climate!
Glad you liked my video! TH-cam is a key way for foreigners such as myself to discover places to go in Japan, and I've always used it to plan my trips. If you need any help, I'm always happy to work with the tourist board to help share information about visiting Japan. Thanks for this we will have to go back to Odaiba because we miss half the things in this video and they look pretty good especially if it’s raining 👍😀🏴🇬🇧
Wow, great video! Completely comprehensive. We're in Tokyo already but haven't been out to Odaiba yet. It's coming up soon though! We'll be checking out many of the places you mentioned. Yay!
A fantastic destination in Japan worthy of a stay all by itself. Laid back, pedestrian friendly, scenic at night, shop till you drop, loads to see and do and eat. Not the least to mention, you could stay there and make it your home away from home while visiting Tokyo and surrounding sites. Hey, maybe you guys could do a short video on how to travel to and from Disneyland or DisneySea from Odaiba. My understanding is that its pretty close by to Odaiba. Thanks for the Round-Up video. I think you covered it all quite well. 👍👍 Cheers. 🥂
Absolutely! Yes, Tokyo Disney is in that direction. From Odaiba you can take the Rinkai line to Maihama Station, which is at Tokyo Disney. Or if you're in the city, you can take the JR Keiyo line or JR Musashino line to Maihama Station (I think it's a little cheaper than the Rinkai line).
Well, that was a nice stroll down memory lane, thank you! :) If folks are into Maritime History, there is also the Soya "Ice Breaker" beside the Maritime Museum. My Son and I have visited around 40 ships converted to museums, Battleships, Aircraft Carries, Sub's ect, the Soya is one of very few Ice Breakers and it's history is quite interesting. Thanks again, always enjoy your videos! PS: It was because of your earlier video that we took the Hotaluna :)
@@cakeswithfaces We took the Hotaluna in the hopes that the open air deck could be used for photographs. Unfortunately it was a bit rough and the deck was closed. My Son is in agreement with you and prefers the Himiko. We bought the small toy of the Himiko as a souvenir. Thanks again :)
I think it's funny they called it "Sewerage Museum Rainbow" :-) There was actually a little model of Himiko for sale on board - kinda regret not buying it now!!
@@cakeswithfaces ..Sewerage Museum Rainbow? 😂 It could be used as an album title if you have a band.. ..Really they have one? you should have bought it.👍
There's a new bath house complex at the new Senkyaku Banrai at Toyosu market where you can try various baths, which is a good alternative. There's also Spa Laqua at Tokyo Dome.
All the videos in this playlist are from February. However in this one there are a couple of clips and pics from other times of year included as well. Hope that helps!
um,... I can't recommend Oedo Monogatari,... I'm kind of dating myself but it used to be clean and relaxing back in the day, now it's just a kind of grimy tourist circus (though, to be fair, the fish served there is yummy),... hmmm, if you want onsen in Tokyo there is black water bath in Kamata, um, but you'll need to speak Japanese I think ...
I always wanted to go because of Digimon. I hope to go once this pandemic is over. I wish I would have gone when I was younger.
It's never too late! :-)

Japan my favorite place after travelling around the world. 2020 will be my fifth time
there . Amazing place.
I go there every year, just to get away from everything and reset my mind))
I know the feeling, I always want to go back too!!
this video convince me to check out Odaiba in my next Tokyo trip July '24!

I always go to Odaiba at the end of my trips, it's nice and relaxing after we've seent the rest of Tokyo.
Wind down at the end of your trip! :-) Love hearing about people's traditions!!
Our first trip to Japan is in a few days. We will stay in Ariake, the next island close to Odaiba. We may walk over and have a look, it's close by.

It's funny when a place surprises you - I'm glad you found it! So futuristic, and I just love the seaside park :-)
The Onsen was great for the kids and they loved it, the gardens are so pretty
I saw a video of the footbaths at night when the lights come on and it looks beautiful!
I managed to get into TeamLab Borderless without booking in advance. Well worth a visit.
Glad you got in, I couldn't face the queue!! I enjoyed it so much, I'd love to visit Planets as well now!
You are amazing, I love your videos.

Great vid Amy, that's exactly where I'd want to spend an afternoon, is at the poop factory.....lol j/k, take care.

Gundam and ASIMO in such close proximity! They are asking for trouble.
At least they separated Godzilla.

I really like the atmosphere and how futuristic it is! :-)
