Honestly this game is probably one of the most interesting JRPGs made, especially in the past. It's kind of crazy that the translators did so well with it too. Being able type "Snow" and it creating an ice spell is amazing. I'm hoping it gets an HD-2D remake.
that's why I love this game. Everything can be a spell. SYLPH carried me through 2/3rds of the game. Honestly my 2nd fave SquareEnix game after Star Ocean 2. FF9, Chrono Trigger, that's below it, IMO.

Honestly, I have a feeling they may actually remake/rerelease this one worldwide at some point, just like Live A Live. I would genuinely not be surprised at this point!

I'm one of quite a few people who were introduced to this banger through Mario's Mystery Meat. It's great to hear a remix of it! Might need to check out the original game some time. Requests: No More Heroes 2 - Philistine Pokemon Black and White - Final N Battle Deltarune Chapter 2 - Smart Race, Attack of the Killer Queen, BIG SHOT Bravely Default II - Might of the Hellblade F-Zero X - Climb Up! and Get the Last Chance!
It's truly a shame the game never managed to make it here in any official capacity. The story and atmosphere both have a very SaGa feel to it and considering the SaGa series has gotten a kind of super revival overseas as of the last few years, it would be very fitting if they could somehow remake and localize Treasure of the Rudras. If anything, Live A Live's brand new Switch release proves that not everything has to stay buried in Japan forever. Of course, they would have to find a way to work around the major issue with the Mantra system. In any case, awesome remix as usual. I see Tornado Man is next.
one way they could rework the mantra system is instead of giving you free reign over what you could put in, have a keyword style system (similar to the messaging system in the Souls series) where you can mix and match keywords to form differing spells.
@@RaifSeverence That's a great idea actually. That reminds me of how you could get a crazy number of different fields and dungeons in .hack by mixing the keywords you received, along with whatever loot and enemy volume you were aiming for.
@@RaifSeverence I personally think that the free reign over what you can put in to create mantras is the strongest point in the whole game. There are in-game characters who give hints about different keywords and you can even copy mantras from your opponents, so I don't see how restricting that freedom makes the mantra system better.

I remember being told that the treasures of the ride a is the hardest rpg on the snes. Yeah, it isn't at all. I beat the North American copy of the 7th saga and it is harder than the treasures of the rudra. Now, don't get me wrong, the treasures of the rudra is one great rpg. It just isn't that hard. I even think that Chrono trigger might be harder if one doesn't level up properly.
@@RaifSeverence Honestly, I think it's just someone who found it somehow hard with the spells. However, once someone figure a couple of hard spell, the Rudras isn't hard. Romancing Saga... I have beaten the 3rd one on the snes, and the Robin stuff was funny. I think Toby Fox might have played that one as well (Undine, Undyne), but that's speculative...
Oh, yeah... The game where any phrase you type in becomes a spell, and you had to cross your fingers to see if it can cause big damage with a small payout. As such, the only spell I could reliably remember was BOOM.
