Okami is one of my favorite games of all time! I made my parents get it for me when i was 12 in '06 simply because i liked the artwork on the cover so much. But little did i know that waiting for me was one of the most unique and most stylish adventures I've played to date. Would absolutely love for him and the team to get the opportunity to do a sequel.

Okami was the first game my daughter ever cleared. She has played it through maybe two or three times. It's a beautiful game, and will always have a special place in our hearts.
Amazing how different Kamiya's games can be, yet always remain great. I don't think I had a good idea about Okami's creators back in 2006, but if you had told me it was made by the guy who directed RE2 and Devil May Cry, I'd have thought you were trolling.. Him and Mikami both seem to share this strength, that instead of playing it safe like some succesful devs would, they're not afraid to try something totally original and shake things up when they're getting stale.
Okami was one of the games that shaped my childhood. It's still one of my favorite games of all time and I really hope that Kamiya gets to fulfill that wish and make a sequel for it sometime soon. I've been waiting for one ever since I was a kid and I would be ecstatic to hear that another Okami game is on the way, especially now that we are capable of so much more in terms of game development, it could really be something special.
I really hope that Kamiya-san gets to make Ōkami 2 at some point, and maybe even remake the Ōkami to add or improve the parts of it that he thinks could use polish, refinement, because that game is incredibly charming. I'd love to play it again with that PlatinumGames touch using the PlatinumEngine to give him the chance to fully express his original vision. Come on, Capcom. Kamiya-san deserves to make Ōkami the best it can be, and would love a Viewtiful Joe HD collection, too. Really appreciate you guys for this series, and can't wait to see the rest of it!

Okami is a beautiful game and in my opinion it's a masterpiece. I love it so much and I still hope, we get sometime in the future a new game, with a wonderful storie and lovely characters🥰
Okami is important to a lot of people. It also has flaws that directly shows the potentiality of itself. No doubt that's the reason a lot of people want a sequel of this title that preceded its time!
Thank you for this. Being a visual artist with a fascination for Japanese folklore and feeling drawn by the elegance of wolves (and Zelda games), To me Okami is the Most Perfect Game Ever Made. That being said -and considering I never played Okamiden, I do not think a sequel can make justice to Okami. Let's not forget the disappointment of most too-long-awaited sequels, like Kingdom Hearts III, The Last Of Us II and even The Last Guardian. If we are to cherish what has been done in the past, we need to let go of the notion that we need sequels to feel fulfilled as gamers. Get all the achievements (which only 26 out of 1000 individuals achieved on Steam, myself included), and when in doubt, replay it again in New Game+ to conclude there is nothing like it.
Okamiden wasn't created by the same people that worked on Okami. It's a good game nonetheless in its own right, but it just can't fill its predecessor's shoes, since Okami succeeds in almost everything it tried to do. I do agree that a sequel would be very hard to make, considering how the first game is packed to the brim with content.
what about okamiden for the ds? was that a prequel or something not made by kamiya in any way? interesting, I thought he would talk about it when the topic of sequel came about but I think thats not it then, thanks again for the video and interview guys!
Kamiya had no input on Okamiden. The Clover studio was already dead and Kamiya had founded Platinum Games when Okamiden started development. The game is fine but I felt it lacked on some parts tho, like it tried to add stuff that doesn't fit very well to the main story/game..
It's considered a spiritual successor, not a direct sequel. Kamiya had no input in Okamiden, as he went on to found Platnium games instead after the scuffle with Capcom over Okami's poor sales.
