You can get rid of the light glare by putting the lights on the outer holes and angling them in. Should reduce shadows better too! Great video, Mike!

Killer build, Mike! That's an awesome easy and simple setup for tight (or wide) overhead workbench shots.

Even though it's a fairly cheap lens, I jumped a little when you threw your 10-18mm from one hand to the other...
Also, for maximum adjustability, I'd put an aluminium T-track along the stretcher and connect a ball head camera mount to it, so no matter where your project is going to be on your work area, you can adjust the camera and frame it perfectly.

Does this mean you’re going to be a building a lot more small projects that’s going to warrant needing an overhead rig?!?

Not too many, but it's nice to have :)

May I suggest using additional diffusers for the lights when using the white board. Glare/reflection would be too distracting/in the way.
Other than that. Very nice simple build. Very cool rig. I love the nuts for customization

Tyler Burton or, just set the lights wider and at a slight angle

How is this not viral yet? This is the 101 for anyone that wants to start a product related youtube channel and especially woodworking.

Cool rig Mike! I'm guessing the troll, err, I mean peanut, gallery will suggest that you add a couple 1/4"-20 mounts on the legs for the lights, so you can illuminate the subject from the sides instead of head on (since lighting in same direction as lens-subject axis can appear somewhat harsh on film). Great build all around tho, might have to throw something similar together for my shop!

Lol. I thought this video was sponsored by gorilla glue for the first bit.

So if you'd mounted those lights at an angle on the sides, instead of right above, you wouldn't get the glare.

i love your channel. its really enjoyable! i was thinking that it would be a good idea to make a feature on the sides so that you can raise or lower the stretcher. thank you again for sharing your amazing work.

  • @tellkorok
    @tellkorok 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A quick improvement idea:
A rail on the rear side of the board for sliding the camera. In that way, it gives the user complete flexibility to move the camera rig where ever they want. The mount on the rain can be modified to hold the camera and give an angle that suits best for overhead filmography.

Nice build broh! U should put a manfrotto quick release plate to that, that way u dont gotta keep screwing and unscrewing the camera.

  • @SmallWorkshopGuy

That looks like it would be in the way of most of my builds that I might be trying to film up close. I like 1/2 pipes hung in a U shape from ceiling and hand my tripods upside down. But appreciate your idea on this - will give it some more consideration since it can be moved around the workshop.
