I can only imagine how invaluable it was to have 3751's crew not only help bring 2926 back to life, but to teach through their experience with running a (though smaller) ATSF 4-8-4. And now we have 2 of them. Cannot wait for the day of a 2926 & 3571 doubleheader 👏👏🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
@TheManDan It's very plausible, I wouldn't be surprised if the idea has already come up between the groups. That being said, a LOT of things have to happen and fall into place first before a doubleheader of 2926 & 3751 can come to fruition. But I beleive it's HIGHLY possible 🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
What an incredible day! Thank you to every single individual and organization, who volunteered and/or donated to get this locomotive running again! This is one step closer to mainline excursions in New Mexico where 2926 travel around carrying hundreds of passengers and encountering hundreds of people trackside watching and chasing the train. Great things are coming full steam ahead. I look forward to traveling to Albuquerque by Amtrak and ride behind 2926 in the future!
What a great restoration for an old Santa Fe Steam Engine that pulled high speed trains during and after World War II supporting our great country during the times of great need for the USA to help the world defeat two enemies of freedom. Long Live the 2926 forever in my heart. Thank you so much all the great volunteers that did this.🤩😀🙂🤠😎
As usual Nathaniel, excellent job! I like that you included the names of some of the volunteers. What a perfect day for the 2926 and her family 🚂 Congratulations!!
She's back! Thanks so much for preserving this incredible part of railroading history! I have always loved the Santa Fe and to see one of their engines on the road again is incredible. Hopefully one day I'll be able to go over to the west coast and see her in action. You guys are amazing!
Absolutely incredible work! This one step closer to the mainline! Keep it up and congratulations to all those who put in their hard work time blood sweat and tears into this beautiful northern! Keep it up hope to see it one day!
Welcome ATSF #2926. New excursion. New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society does a good job at keeping ATSF #2926 steaming. Cant wait to see the #2926 on the mainline.
The restoration team is to be congratulated for their years of hard work. This magnificent Locomotive glows in the sun and stands tall. Presentation by the Mayor is a fitting tribute. First rate video with well-placed cameras and the crisp sound track brings the locomotive to life. It's a shame the music interferes with the locomotive sounds. But a very special day in Albuqueque. Looking forward to seeing 2936 out on her inaugural run one day. JohnB Brisbane Australia. Love the sound of Albuqueque. Think I first heard it in a Bugs Bunny cartoon years ago.
The big box looken thing is apart of both the PTC system and the upcoming camera system that will be on 2926. We have the technology to make this locomotive safer so let's use it!

She will at some point. But soon is most likely not the case. We need a place in the railyard to store her and to get the turntable up and running. But things can change

That would be incredible, a partnership between the NMSL&RHS and the SBRHS would be quite a sight.

Very nice. As a lifelong railroad nut, it gladdens me to see these magnificent locomotives being preserved, and even more so when they're restored.
Absolutely amazing …. what a thoroughbred …. ❤
And again, I can hear myself cheering in the background again
Hooray!!

how much oil you guys have to fill her up?
2926 has a capacity of 7000 gallons of oil. When we do steam ups we usually fill her to 3000 gallons and that's enough for a couple steamups

At some point probably not in the near future we gotta take baby steps
