Create Product Images With the Amazon API! (Product Box Tutorial)

It's seems complicated on the surface, but to create images you need to have an approved Amazon Associates account. Then, request API access where you'll be given API keys. These keys take affect 48 hours after they have been made.
Then finally you can generate images using ScratchPad which is found in your Amazon Associates account. You do need to know HTML to customize everything, but if you don't I show you a FREE way to create a well designed product box.

When generating your product image in ScratchPad you have a few different options, I personally like to request both a large image and product details and that's it. But you're welcome to play around with your request details if there is something specific you want.
Next, don't forget to checkout Lasso ➡davidutke.com/lasso This plugin can make product boxes and tables for Amazon but it also works with any affiliate program to create high converting sales copy to drive more sales.

Yea I push Lasso too because it's great once you have 500 visitors a day and you're making money. But I want share a free way as a stop gap as you grow.

This was EXTREMELY helpful. I'm not super savvy with HTML but I'm worried about using any plugins for Wordpress like Lasso right now with Amazon's changes. So I'd rather go with what Amazon is suggesting for the time being. Thank you again so much!

48 hours after generating the key? I am so glad I found this video, I had 2 old keys and deleted them both. Regenerated both, and had no idea why they weren't working? This is the first time I heard of the 48 hours they I needed to wait. Try again tomorrow then and hope for the best.

Even if you select large image, the image is still pretty small. But i found that it's easy to change width and height in the html code. After you paste the code onto your website, to change the image size, just change the width and height under "product image source" and then make the product container bigger by changing the width and height under "product container"

thx Julie. additionally i would recommend using for Product container height: auto. This will allow a nice display of the picture, the title and the prime icon. I have something like this:

@@user-ko9ju2hn1u I just dropped it inside a container and I centered the content :). I am using GeneratePress and GenerateBlocks but I think you can do that with any Group or Column block.

so I did this in classic editor in wordpress and it showed up as a photo by itself with a link text title separately underneath, is that allowed by Amazon?

Thanks for that but I had an issue I follow exactly how you stated did the asin then the large image and ticked the info item all of them as you did. I then ran the request but instead of getting the image it came back with an error message as follows "Error! TooManyRequests
The request was denied due to request throttling. Please verify the number of requests made per second to the Amazon Product Advertising API." I also then copied the html code just in case but when I went to preview it got another error message there stating Error! TooManyRequests

I believe even though I had those first three sales required which was years ago apparently from what I was told you also need recent sales as well then, those messages will be gone and the image will appear as in the video. But they don't state that only the original three sales. They are very deception and not very helpful with the help desk either they know diddly squat.

Delete your credentials (access key and secret key), then again make both keys by pressing "add credentials". Then add fresh key and check.
it apparently takes 48 hours for your keys to start working. I will check myself if that resolves it. I requested the keys today.
Yes, it's because of waiting for 48 hours! Same thing happened to me but after 48 hours it was all good to go!

I am getting a 'no image available' issue on every product. This is the same under 'rendered image' on the API page, and when I preview or publish the image on WP. I've tried with a number of products but same problem..... can anyone help?
This video was well done and very helpful. One thing - the image that the Scratchpad generates does not include the price, even though I selected 'All' in the Resources dropdown.

Yes, but you have to edit the HTML. If you don't know how to do that then I suggest AAWP or Lasso if you're using WordPress.
Great video, but not sure if I'm missing a step in the process. I have continued to get an error message when following these steps. Which I have not been able to put items back on my site. Is there another software needed to use these steps?
Does anyone have an issue with the new HTML code from APi being counted towards the total words count on a blog post? It makes my blog posts being 9000 words and is really confusing. How can I change that?

Every product has an ASIN. Let me know if you get it sorted.

First you need to have an approved Amazon Associates account. Second, it takes a few days for your API keys to start working.
Can I customise the title that is diplayed between the image and where is says Prime? I'd rather put my own title there.
In the HTML, BUT I would always refer to the operating agreement with Amazon before doing something like that.
This is very helpful. I wouldn't have even known about Scratchpad without this video.
So I followed your instructions and they work well until I place the HTML code on my blog. It doesn't look like the rendered image on Scratchpad at all. I get the picture and then lines and lines of title that is not contained to a box and it won't show the Amazon Prime symbol. I have tried a ton of variations on parameters thinking maybe I just needed a different parameter. My best guess is the code doesn't work with a plugin I have on my blog maybe? (I use the Yoast SEO plug in and a couple of others but that is it.) How could I tell what is making the HTML code not work for my blog page? Is there something I should look for or do differently?
This is tough to answer because I would need to see what you're doing specifically.

Yes, but you need to know how to work with the API and it's a bit more technical. I would go to a coding forum and ask.

You have to drive three sales and get your account approved. With traffic, it's really not that difficult. Get on it.
Are we allowed to remove the PRIME and other things on the image rendered from the HTML code.. I just want the IMAGE only ..
You have to edit the code, also consult Amazon before doing anything to make sure it's within the TOS.
@@DavidUtke thanks its been a while since you reply.. so we still have no idea what exactly makes the API image compliant? the TOS doesn't really address this ... The 3rd party plugins obviously have images without the button and they are compliant but I don't know where to get the OK , Amazon customer service don't know much.. I could easily edit the code ..its just HTML and CSS .. easy for non techies.
What's the point of using it if it does not even show the current price? If I am reviewing the product I will already have the picture.
Product boxes convert well. I normally just used the image and text links and had an 8% conversion rate, but now images are gone and it's against the TOS to use images from Amazon. So, if you don't want to pay for a plugin, this process is your best bet.

Oh you need to be very careful about showing price as you don't want to violate the TOS of the affiliate program. Best to just use a paid plugin if its that important.
Can you make another video just like this but have it show the CURRENT PRICE? I followed this tutorial step-by-step, but I also selected the option for the price and it will not show it. All it shows is the Prime logo underneath the product picture.
Get a plugin then, that get's technical and you don't want to run the risk of violating Amazon's terms of service.

For the image? Sorry but you have edit the HTML, with the link you can set it as sponsored in wordpress
You can add it after you see the word - blank" : target="_blank" rel="noopener sponsored">
