- #KashmirLife's #IqraAkhoon met some of the #KashmiriPandits in #Mattan, a few who stayed put and many who migrated and returned home. The meeting took place a few days ahead of a blaze destroying some of the old houses in the same locality.

here's a little story. my maasi lives in mattan and i’d often go there when i was little. one day i was walking up to their place near batpur and i came across a kp family (their neighbours). idk what i was thinking but i greeted them with asalaamualaikum. they answered with walaikum. then i saw the ‘tyok’ on their foreheads and realised what a fumble it had been on my part. how heart-warming though! muslims kps and sikhs have been living in harmony for years in mattan. one summer there i even took tuition from a kp man. lovely people. hope they find their way back home soon. hope k. gets its long-sought independence.

I am from Srinagar, and my aunt lives in a village in South Kashmir where there are 2-3 Kashmiri Pandit households as her neighbors. When we visit my aunt's home, we also visit the homes of the Kashmiri Pandits. They visit our home as well. Believe me words cannot express the feeling we get.

Nice step but one thing I think should have been covered in this video is the situation and things they faced in 90s and how it is being used to play Hindu Muslim politics now eg the movie Kashmir files how much of it is true and how much is propaganda
