I would say mountaineer is easily the most diversified class. It can be used as a sniper spotter (carcano+zoom+binoculars), or as a secondary assault class (moschetto cav+fast run+trumpet or ice pick). The latter is a monster for flanking the enemy and pressing objectives behind the enemy line to confuse them. As an officer, I often call out for the mountaineers in the team to perform skirmishing on the capture point while I hold/attack the bomb point.

When I first started playing this game, I only played Assault, Engineer and Officer if the latter was available. Recently started playing as Mountaineer and it's now my favorite go to class. And I agree, it's a very underappreciated class. In most games, I'm usually the only mountaineer in my team.
Tip for dolomiti : if youre on defence and they have to capture the bottom of the mountain, set up a periscope right the top and fromt most edge, youre so high you can see the whole battlefield and constantly spot everything
Spotting makes your Marksmen & Mortars more deadly, and LMG suppression from a safe distance more relevant. Set up those periscopes so friendlies can spread the bino love. If you're doing second line overwatch, the Veterrli (or whatever that single shot black powder one is) with the zoom perk is justifiable for the pretty much guaranteed One Shot alpha damage, and makes HMGs further back useable/safer to be suppressing from. Flare often and lower the burden of the Officer running back and forth to spot for himself. Flask & Movement Perk are critical when you have to attack uphill, especially to get there and disrupt Engineers building fortifications.

If you see a guy running around with the pickaxe hes doing it for the "achievement". Did not know there was one and all I had was the bloodlust to crack heads open.
For the marksman I agree, when you don't have the scoped rifle it is better to snipe with the mountainer. Though it can not replace the assault, in my oppinion at least. :)

Just run to a flank and sprint asap behind the enemy's lines. Plant the bomb to see the enemy pull back. You either get the cap or the enemy loses its line Rush with the bayonet. Using that split second invulnerability to chain the kills. Ice axe even better. Defence, periscope or sniper If using light infantryman try to flank and break spawn points or be a nuisance to the enrmy

When I made the tutorial there were few people using it just for fun but that changed. I also got hooked on using it but much later.
I would try to play but when i got the game on steam the main menu was broken af and I couldn't play it :(

Yes, you must hold down the mouse button, as shown in the tutorial.
Does the Bugle also increase my movement and rifle speed or just my teammates.
It also increases the values for you.
