Battling Strong Winds To Catch Fish on Lures (Inshore SLAM)

- In this video, I used footage from two days of inshore saltwater fishing. The first day, my buddy @JCFishinCharters and I battled against strong north winds to catch a Tampa Bay area "inshore slam" (which includes redfish, speckled trout, and snook) all on artificial lures. The second day, I went out on a quick solo trip and ended up catching a couple solid fish also on lures.

shoutout to see ya dude for saving the biggun trout for me😈
Ok I’m convinced now. Between you and Thonny with the Slam Shaddys I’m ordering my first bag.
Get the Zman Version though. Way more durable.
Definitely go for the slam shady 2.0 or even the new mulligan
I'll say it again. Go with the Zman Version. The 2.0 don't last worth a lick. Handful of fish and it's toast. I have landed over 200 fish ( redfish , snook and trout ) on one zman slam Shady bait before a blow fish took it's tail.
Great video!!!
Heads up, during the first snook fight. Your 2nd reel " locking nut " was unscrewed. Careful with that I learned about that the hard way. Lost the fish and the reel 😢
Sick video brent. U guys are the west coast kings near me lol
Thanks dude!
nice slam dude
My husband and I would like to know the make and model of your Bay Boat. Care to share?
It's a Sea Hunt BX 22 BR
Slam Shady is so good
Another great video my friend!!
Thank you!
I have never got an inshore slam :(
If you keep trying you'll get it soon! It's so rewarding once you finally get it, I remember my first slam like it was yesterday
Do you work for Pro Marine?
How deep was it by the docks? Surprised you didn't throw it on a jig head to get it deeper but it worked awesome, what a catch
Not very deep with the tide we had that day, probably 1-2'
I'm starting to see them moving on the flats. Last weekend I probably seen over 100+ snook but they wouldn't chew. Water little to chill on the flats still
Out of the many snook trout and lady fish I’ve caught I feel like it’s a miracle that I’ve never caught a red. Any tips?
I actually just filmed a video (that I'll post next week) talking about tips for catching redfish, snook, and speckled trout in late winter/early spring. I go over where these fish will most likely be, where they're moving from/moving to, and what gear and baits I recommend you use. Hopefully there's some info on redfish in that video that can help you catch some
Reds right now are gonna be in the backwaters , muddy bottoms , or even times like Brett got in some super shallow water flats that's attached to edges / drop offs / canals
Reds winter time you can almost guarantee them in the backwaters if you want one almost guaranteed go way up in the backwaters. Also use smaller line , leader and baits.
I've been getting reds up to 31" the last 2 to 2.5 months.. using 5 , 8 and 10lb braid. 15 and 20lb leader.
My go to as of late is a 1/10 Ned head , with a 2.5" gold slim swimz from zman , add little procure shrimp scent And basically just reeling it across the bottom.
With these smaller baits and hooks you want a rod that's limber because a stiffer rod won't allow you to get distance with such lightweight baits. Plus you don't want the hooks to bend out either. Have to run a lighter / softer drag when throwing these
I have the same rod as brett ( actually I recommend the rod to him 😁 ) the 7'4 5-10 med light extra fast bull Bay banshee is what we both use. Or a 7'6 5-10 sniper is a good one. I prefer the banshee because it has a softer tip but a decent backbone to stop some decent size fish
Great job Brent. I was so close to my first slam this past weekend. I fish off a paddle board so covering areas to find all 3 is tough. I thought I had it but couldn’t find the snook
Hope you get your slam soon!
Problem with snook right now is we get a week of spring weather then 2 or 3 days of cooler weather and repeat.
When it's cooler check the back creeks, residential canals , or deeper mud bottoms.
When it warms up to the 70s+ check the flats , shallower docks and Mangroves.
Forgive me, I teach English. "Casted" is incorrect past tense. You don't say "I throwed it" do you? (I hope not) Simply say "Cast". I "Cast" it out there.
Expect more homework.
I was always more of a science/math kid so it makes sense 😂 I’ll start studying and do better on the next test
