Nice tire tool to have around! I worked at a rock quarry when I got out of the military and we changed a lot of truck tires! The old dangerous ones with the two piece rims. I get why Rachel made the noise when the bead set😂 Kubota should be able to drag out logs now Heath💪🏻
Thanks Todd, oh yeah the split rims. We had those on the planes I worked on in the AirForce. We’d cage the tires when working on them. Rachel was a bit jumpy for sure.
yeah I see a video in the future of you guys digging a hole and pouring some concrete for a real heavy base for the tire changer. It's the same down here in Texas Heath. Just a few years ago you could get a tire fixed and changed for $10-13. Now everybody wants at least $20. No doubt you saved yourself. Especially when you mentioned a 1 hour drive to town.👍
For sure, not a one hour drive to town though about 15 minutes each way but they usually are busy and I have to drop them off and then go back later to pick up.
Before buying a bead blaster I always use to take the core out of the valve stem and use just the quick connect on the airline to shoot air in through he valve stem, I do have the harbor freight bead blaster to change my dump truck tires and it works extremely well. Anyways take care fellow Michigander.
Tires look great. And will give great traction. 👍🏻 8 to 10 psi for those tires is what I use. Some people use vise grips on the rims to hold the tire from spinning around while putting the tire on. Great tool to have. If you have 18” pry bars in you tool box you could use those until you get spoons. The trailer tire would be about 6 to 8 ply where as the tractors tire are 2 ply, the 2 ply tires are much easier to work with. Great job. Have a great day. 👍🏻
I used starting fluid, got a air tank off wreck truck and built me a blow up tank, worked great for just a 1 1/2 ball valve and junk pipe and welding 😊
Great video hard working man I remember when I was younger trying g to.get the tires on with screw drivers and tire irons . Ugh it was daunting. That's a nice Kubota diesel tractor.. I'll def have to buy this tire changer
Oh yeah I just did them that way a few months ago. That’s what drove me to buy one of these changers. The one I used when I was younger is still mounted in my dad’s driveway and still gets used today.
Inuse to do it that way. Also used starter fluid to set the bead as well. Now we have a bead seater. My goal was always tonfind a shop thatbis closing and get a coats machine and a balancer. I love those new tires for the Kubota, they ought to give great traction. That is why I don't mess with tires. I am too old for the aggravation.
Nice work definitely a money saver. I got cheap locking air chuck from harbor freight took the guts out of it. Put it on valves stem then hook the hose to it. Of course with valves them out. It really Surprise you How much better the bead sets. Nice larger air hose helps too. Great video don’t hurt to work little to save some money.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors definitely try out one them cheap one from harbor frieght that can take guts out them. It really does work good. I struggle for long time trying to get them to pop. Since did that I had no problems
Some of your soapy water would make dismounting easier as well. Try clamping a vice grip on the edge of the rim to keep the bead from sliding around when you are mounting the top bead. Please use a clip on chuck on the air hose whe seating beads.
Yeah, it definitely didn’t go smoothly. It’s been a long time since I’ve use this thing and I clearly forgot my tricks. Not afraid to share the not so great days though.
My dad taught me this method. He went to work at a gas station driving tow truck and fixing cars in Detroit during WW II. He was only 15 years old with just a special ‘farm permit’ license. They never found out. Later in the war after he was drafted, the Army trained him to be a truck mechanic.
It was definitely a different time back then. My dad’s first trip from the upper peninsula to Grand Rapids was when he was 14 years old. He drove the whole way. He started driving to school when he was 12.
Heath, have a roadside tire mechanic show you how to work tire spoons. I've seen many semi truck, or tractor-trailer, tires changes faster with only tire spoons. Am sure you can find someone newrby to give you some tips. Might also be good video, have a pro show us how to do it. I've seen small framed women swap out heavy truck tires pretty darn quick. Is all about knowledge and technique. To seal the bead, the "bead" or "tire" cannon is the way to go to seal the bead. Unfortunately, those bead cannons need a recharge of air after each use. The ratchet tool is a good way to go on a budget.
For sure, those guys definitely know what they’re doing. I used to struggle with this a lot less when I did it more often but it’s been a long time since I’ve done it.
