I remember reading a subreddit thread where people listed their best leftover makeovers, and one woman talked about how her in-laws got accidentally snowed in her home and she hadn’t done ANY groceries to feed the extra people for breakfast. she checked her fridge and she ONLY had a frozen half loaf of banana bread, so she chopped it up and made up this giant batch of banana bread custard pudding with eggs, milk and peanut butter and literally everyone thought it was the best thing she made. So every year she makes it for thanksgiving 😂😂

Where I am from, Hoecake is biscuit dough that you put in a well greased pan and cover, then flip to brown both sides. Makes it look like a thick pancake (but never sweet). End result is a crispy biscuit with soft biscuit inside. This was an adaptation of a southern biscuit recipe when there wasn't an oven available.

Cook the lentils (i used red) with milk/coconut milk, add spices (vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg,...) And sugar to taste.
You can either cook the lentils until soft, or you can cook them until they are mush and maybe even blend them up for a pudding like consistency.

Welcome to the life of a regular middle class housewife. At the end of the week, the whole family is home for all meals you have to figure out what you're going to feed them. You have a refrigerator full of leftovers but not enough to serve one as a whole meal: a little salad, some tuna salad, a slice of pizza, a couple chicken nuggets, some coleslaw, some casserole, some french fries, half a sandwich, etc. This is the puzzle a lot of housewives or househusbands face. My favorite trick for using leftovers is, I throw them all in my chopper (non-electric food processor) which chops and mixes them together, I add gochuchang and soy sauce, put that as a filling in a wonton wrapper, fold into a triangle, seal edges w/ water and fry them in an inch of peanut oil in a wok. I call them garbage fried dumplings.

I am so happy I found you. You not only have given me such wonderful ideas of food to try, but you always make me smile from the very moment you come on and say, "My name is Beryl." I wanted you to know I have seen pickled veggies on other channels and thought about trying them but never have UNTIL you made the pickled onions. I thought....why not? BTW I've always wanted a mandoline slicer but just never got one. Well I bought one just so I could get the onion slices thin like yours. So glad I bought it.....LOVE IT! Why did I wait so long? So I made some two days ago. My daughter couldn't wait and after about an hour or so tasted them. LOVED THEM! I served them the next day with tacos....OH MY YUM! I just saw the jar this morning, and it is almost empty. Going to make another jar or two today and definitely keep it stocked as she's talking about all the things we can eat them on. Thank you so much for opening up my eyes to other ingredients and other tasty dishes. I'm excited to try more.

The best way to Challenge creativity and ingenuity is to make it work with what you’ve got on hand and you’re craving something out of the box. Love it, Beryl! 😊

Beryl I can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos! You are so genuine and authentic and just all-round lovely! You provide me with a great way to unwind after work because your dedication to your craft and your joy reach me through the screen, making me smile and laugh along with you. I've sent your links to 3 friends already, because I want them have sunny moments in their day too. I do have one suggestion though: explain less common ingredients and suggest alternatives when possible. I identify as JAnadian (Jamaican-Canadian or in my case Canadian-Jamaican) currently on the island and it's impossible to get many of the ingredients you use. I currently look it all up but if I would find the extra info helpful, there might be other viewers who would too. Thanks and please keep doing what you are doing!

They all look delicious! Also, as a Romanian, I am always impressed when people say they eat mamaliga (or even know what it is)!
Ps: If you make thick(er) mamaliga and let it cool down completely (ideally overnight), you can slice it and grilled it, and add your favourite toppings! mine are salty fish (like anchovies or any fish you like), grilled tomatoes, and garlic sauce! :)

With the similar ingredients as the first recipe you can make "bakwan" one of Indonesia's street foods. You basically chopped the cabbage & carrot the same way, then add flour & water mixture (with seasoning of your liking, and i usually add egg as well) then mix them together, then fry until golden brown. It's so easy to make and taste really good 😋😋

One time I was making French toast and realized I had no milk. I had a flavored coffee creamer in the fridge, so I used that instead of milk. Now, I almost always use flavored coffee creamer for my French toast! It’s so good!

You should try the "dough" with cornmeal one more time, without atta. All you have to add is a little bit of sour cream or yoghurt, cornmeal, water and a pinch of salt 😊😊
This is how my grandma used to make it when I was a little girl: bake it outside in the fire oven, add some yoghurt on top and sprinkle some sugar! It was one of my favourite desserts growing up!
She still makes it like twice a year, when I visit and she puts so much effort into it (she is 87 years old) - love her ❤💛💙!
    Hugs from Romania!! 😍🤗🇷🇴

I made a sort of lunch-sized chicken and baked bean casserole. I air-fried some chicken nuggets for 8 minutes, nuked the leftover baked beans in the microwave for 2 minutes, add some turkey bacon and maple syrup mixed in. 😋!

I love the idea of using bread like this. I just pulled out the center of a round loaf of bread and will crimp the edges just like you did, though the stuffing will be a savory one I'd put into the hollowed-out loaf.
