My brother's name is Connor, he's half Ojibwe but on our mom's side we have Irish, Norse, Welsh, English, and a tiny pinch of Russian, according to Dna tests we all took.
Love this . I LOL’d at Justin . I’m learning (slowly) Irish on Duolingo )an app - I just got my DNA done and I’m NINETY FIVE PERCENT British, Irish & Scottish . I knew my parents were from UK but I didn’t know NINETY FIVE percent of me was !! Makes sense tho . You should see my teeth (British) and I’ve been Celtic pagan / witch leaning forever . So I’m embracing my roots now . Kids are grown and I’m planning to come out and investigate “home” next year . I have no living relatives here in 🇨🇦 except my two kids but know my cousins in England - very excited to visit Ireland (my dads side ) and also Scotland as my mums brother lived in Wick until he died last year . Videos like this feel like Home funny enough Thank you for this ! I got pretty close on about 1/2 from what I’ve learned so far , got a few right and totally missed a lot lol My fave is how bh somehow makes a v sound
I love your videos. I'm so glad you're feeling better. My wonderful husband is from Cork and I'm always proud when I can get these names right. I love the phrases he uses, now that I know the difference between "yer one" and "yer man". 😂 💙🍀💙
Congratulations! You look amaing 🥰I am expecting a grandson in March! It just so happens my kids were on a cruise and stopped in Belfast when conceived 🤣😂 So I have directed them to you for a great Irish name even though they were up north. Praying the rest of your pregnancy has gone smoothly ❤
Your videos are really well explained, and I love the little bit of history behind the names. With the Labhraidh, I thought bh was pronounced as v, but it's a w. Does it depend on what letters are before or after it? Maybe you could do a video about the Irish alphabet and the different sounds letters make together x
Congrats on the pregnancy! I have a question for you if you don't mind. I'm half Irish through my dad (his mom was from Co. Galway and his dad from Swords, Co. Dublin) but I have never learned any Irish, and nor has he. I really want to get to a good level so I can speak to my nan in Irish rather than English, but I don't know any quick, easy ways of doing so. Any tips? I watched your videos on common words which were helpful but I wanted to go a bit more advanced. I can definitely say I grew up with a lot of Irish customs though! Saying no a million times before you say yes, saying so many byes you just have to walk out eventually, and more.
I grew up in England, moved to Belfast learned the pronunciation of many irish names, moved to Tipperary and get strange looks when i mention some of the names since they are suddenly pronounced differently 😄 . My daughter Caoimhe went from keeva to queeva.
And I thought learning Klingon pronunciation was difficult... Yes ofc. she speaks and writes the pronounciation here, but imagine encountering the written words in "the wild" and having to know how to speak them.
With all your knowledge of names and origins, it would be interesting to see what you’ll choose for your baby! May you have an easier time in your remaining pregnancy. ❤️
Lol, my nephew is called Tadhg (just a different spelling as to Tadgh, but the same meaning and pronunciation) my da can't pronounce it properly lol he calls him TAG and 2 years later he still calls him TAG and we've given up trying to correct him, lol. Tadhg's younger brother is called Fionnán, pronounced "Fin-on" and when people ask me how to pronounce his name I say, "there is a FIN ON the fish" and they catch on lol I've another nephew called Cóiré, pronounced "Currah" like Derry in Gaeilge "Durrah" but my family pronounce it as "Corey" and his big brother is called Cahir, which is in my eyes easily pronounced, "Ca-hir" like the number 4 spoken in Gaeilge "Ceathair" that's why I can't wait til my other nephews turn 4 so I can tell them they're now Cahir's!! Lol (2 of them are the same age, with just 2 months between them)
How is it nuts. The names are spoken phonetically correctly in the Irish language. You try to pronounce any foreign words in the wrong language, and it won't make sense. Your comment is nuts and arrogant
I love your videos. God bless you with your upcoming birth. Is this your first child? Please tell us the stories you grew up hearing. We'd love that. Take care. 🥰
"Bring 🇨🇦 Troops Home! @GordBolton ·Jun 18, 2022 Replying to @DagnyTaggart369 I was curious about that name (Taggart) for a long time. We had some neighbors with that name out on the prairies when I was a child." Greetings Wolfe Momma & congratulations! The name of the neighbour was McTaggart. I am one of those stupid people who look for meaning in things including names. I asked what the name meant & no-one could tell me. Much much later I learned that the literal translation of McTaggart was son of a priest (druid) or even better son of one who honours the bards! Even more interesting is the ancient Tagar culture in the Valley of the Kings near the Altai Mountains who were very much into beautiful Scythian art 1000s of years ago. According to the Decimali Channel the population of Wales, Ireland, Scotland & some Baltic countries have high percentages of the Tagar DNA! I explored the theory that much, most maybe all the fair skinned blond haired population of Europe rode in on horseback from Central & Eastern Asia. An Iranian contemporary of Genghis Khan described him as a large man with red hair & green eyes -- maybe a cousin of the Eric the Red?

What a rabbit hole....I could listen to those Irish names all day. I love your videos
Thank you so much! 😊💗
We named our new puppy Rian....We believe it means Little King. Very happy for you and your family!!

Thank you so much! Compiling a list now for the wee one! 😊💗
@@WolfeMomma awesome looking forward!
Turlough also means 'dry lake' - particularly a lake that is formed when ground water rises in the wet seasons (very unique to the west of Ireland)

Thank you so much! Cork is the best, I always have the best fun in Cork! 😊💗

Cool deal. I'm glad to subscribe as I'm currently working on a horror/suspense/thriller novel.
Congratulations! I hope you and baby are healthy and happy!
Thank you so much! 😊💗
Good afternoon,
I got perhaps three names out of all of these, but they are great.
😊💗
I have 4 kids. 3 boys and a lil girl. Their names are: Deglan Thorsten, Cullen Bragi, Kiran Eirlys, and Freya Bláithín.
Great names! I especially love Freya 😊💗
Congratulations! Loved that you included Justin - as it is my son's name.
Thank you! Justin's a great name! 😊💗
VERY difficult! I didn't get any of them, although I came close on a few. Could you please tell me about Mharcais?
I love Tadhg, Oisín and Fionn.
I think if you concatenate any two of these you'd have an unguessable and unbreakable password.
I grew up in England, moved to Belfast learned the pronunciation of many irish names, moved to Tipperary and get strange looks when i mention some of the names since they are suddenly pronounced differently 😄 . My daughter Caoimhe went from keeva to queeva.
Welcome back you been busy and look good too
Thank you! Yeah very busy, so happy to finally be out of the nausea stage! 😊💗
Thank you for another great video. Congratulations on your pregnancy! I wish you and the baby a safe journey and birth.
🎉 congratulations... and i was able to pronounce quite a few of them.
Thank you! And well done! 😊💗
And I thought learning Klingon pronunciation was difficult...

You are seriously so beautiful. I love your top too (hands in sleeves will be back soon lol)

Congratulations on your blessing! 🤰🏼❤
Have you covered Ciarán or Ciaran before? The pronunciations seem to vary on the internet. What is your take? Thank you!
I did Ciaran in another video 😊 It's usually Keer-awn with the fada and Keer-an without the fada 💗
My daughters partner is Irish and his name is Padraig, his is pronounced Paw rig, but everyone calls him Podge
How do you pronounce Iagan ?
