I don't know what the exact point in time was, but it feels like so much time has passed. We were kids growing up playing these games, we're all grown up and jaded now, time and life have made their impact. I think even if Half-Life 3 came out, it wouldn't be enough to send us all back to recapture that feeling. When you hear the train at the end, it's almost like we all got let off in the middle of nowhere and sadly walked off the train when we realized there wasn't another destination. Abandoned and lost to time.

We can probably say that, no 3rd game, discontinued story, forgotten, it should feel very bad.
I've lost hope completely after HL:A release. It was biggest disappointment in my life. Stupid story, stupid characters, and Mike Morasky instead of Kelly Bailey. That idiot wrote 60+ tracks for the game and everything is just sounds unfinished, flat and soulless. I really hate Valve and their new vision.
