that's a particular breed usually. one of my friends horses is a quarter horse and he gets excited and can get a weird "gaited" trot but it's just him being in between a trot and a lope
What do you do if you run into the problem where the horse will not turn or you’ll that’s hindquarters to get the energy into the feet to ask for the back up
Kariana Megahan you could tap the hip with dressage stick and you may have increase pressure, and they may kick at your at your leg, it my feel like buck, if your not comfortable, work with Experienced trainer
Break the process of backing into small tasks. Reward the horse for the slightest try. Get accomplished with each of the tasks, then put it all together.
Linda Rice you can use rhythmic motion not kicking , just lift your leg off your horse outward (from your knee to your foot) and rhythmically move both legs on and off your horse the rhythm should encourage your horse to move.
when she doesn't stop, make her go faster and work a lot and after a while she will learn that if she doesn't stop then you are going to make her work a lot harder than if she does
I feel like a novice watching these videos again, but somebody ruined my 4yr old so I'm on the hunt for new backing methods (under saddle and in the ground🤦♀️)
I need help my 6 year old gelding will not listen anymore. I have no choice but to have him at my grandparents and my grandma spoils them so much to the point where at every show I go to I get 10 or more comments saying they are fat. but in truth they are just built that way. I work them every day but I feel like all im doing is steping backwards. my 6 year old will not move without putting up a fight he chews his bit horribly, he is not focused, when I ask him to walk he will not move he balks so bad to where I have to get off and whip him and then he still wont move. he also will not back up at all. he is the most frustrating animal iv tried to train yet . I don't know what to do anymore, we have thought about hobbling him to bring down his stubborn attitude because he also kicks at everyone and bites. anyone have any ideas ?
+Cowgirl Kali May With my boy, if he wanted to back up, we backed up until he no longer wanted to. Then we circled and circled! Hope you're having luck with him now!
Thank a lot for the Advice. I use a leverage bit and my horse locks up. I change to a Hackamore
Very helpful! Thank you
Thank you so much! This video was very helpful!
My guy is stubborn on the back and side pass. Thanks for helping. Also can you teach a western horse to "gait" or is it a particular breed?

Every time I ask for a back she drops her head but doesn't back, I've done everything I can but idk what to do anymore

teach her half halts. That is stopping with one rein but not the same as a one rein stop. Look it up. It should help
I have a huge problem I got a new horse and every time I try to teach her how to back up she lays down completely
Try moving hips over then ask for back up,
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks

One word. Groundwork.
lunge and work on more ground work so he respects you
wow that sounds aweful.. look into positive reinforcement, no use fighting with a horse thats just abusive.
