    I don't say this but this but in my personal opinion I think this is so far the best spekboom I've seen thus far. An Ive been following lots of guys on different platforms cause bonsai has me interested. An most of the guys aren't local like Dr swartz.. I'm a colored from Cape Town an I'm gana go out on a limb an say for the good Dr skepboom grows in his back yard am he an couple of buddies got together to do some sleep over jeep hike trip seeking trees maybe the spekboom it self lol. So Mr doctor thank you for... Not sure how to put it in words but it just feels different when someone speaks about something indigenous to the country that's from the country sometimes special through all this country. You should do more of this doctor lol so I can learn more

    • @dwarfjadebonsai
      @dwarfjadebonsai  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Indigenous trees remain vastly underappreciated in South Africa, making it a rarity to encounter someone with such an astounding collection of them. What's even more remarkable is Dr. Andre Swart's distinctive approach, drawing inspiration from African-style trees rather than solely adhering to traditional Japanese styles. Visiting his Bonsai Paradise was a true blessing. I look forward to returning in the future to delve deeper and ask more questions.

    Calling a spekboom (Portulacaria afra) a dwarf jade (Crassula ovata) is technically incorrect, as they are totally different species, and "dwarf jade" is a misleading name.

    • @dwarfjadebonsai
      @dwarfjadebonsai  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Ray, thanks for the comment. Yes, you are 100% correct. I live in Cape Town, and obviously we call it Spekboom here but in many countries overseas its called Dwarf Jade and even Jade plant . We cant choose what common names these beautiful plants are given in other countries.

    I think for some plants you can get away with just using stone and don't need to worry about nutrients/organisms. Autotrophic plants produce their own sugars. Ive had multiple cuttings of dwarf scheflerra in a pot of fine white silica sand that they use at golf courses. They're all root-bound in the same pot with many aerial roots. Idk if they are considered autotrophic but I assume they are by the way they grow. I find that most plants that you can take from cuttings require very little so long as you give them water and drainage. Regardless of whether you have good soil or not, there still microorganisms in the pot even if its just an empty pot

      Very interesting points, Portulacaria Afra can grow in nearly anything including water. But they thrive with lots of fertaliser if you are wanting fast growth then you should nuke them with fertaliser and they grow like crazy. Thanks for you comment.

      Hi There, thank you very much. The mix in the black fertaliser pods is a home made fertaliser mix consisting of Bone Meal, Bounce Back, 2/3/2 (fertaliser) and Worm Tea. Hope this helps?
