    Great video for intermediate learners! Knowing lots of vocabularies and grammar is not enough to know how people actually talks in real life so this kind of video is very helpful.
    In "The Glory" one line is 다 실수 하면서 크는 거자나 which would translate to "Everyone while making mistakes we are big, you know" but means "We all make mistakes while growing up". This is one example of how just theoretical knowledge isn't enough to understand.

    • @ayaeriby
      @ayaeriby 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I liked the example .. Now I fully understand why studying conversation is important as well

    • @chrismossy9774
      @chrismossy9774 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      @@ayaeriby The hardest scene in "The Glory" to understand if one listens to the Korean dialogue while reading the English subtitles, is when Dong-Eun meets Sarah in church and Sarah says: "Just because we are grown ups, you don't give a shit?". Dong-Eun reminds that they are in church and should use good language.
      But I heard the word "불교" (Buddhism) and Sarah actually uses an expression from a Buddhist scripture and Dong-Eun reminds her about that (meaning "Why are you as a Christian quoting Buddhist phrases?"). Even many Koreans didn't know the exact meaning but some looked it up for me.
      The meaning of the words refers to a stage when there is matter of "all or nothing", it seems.

    • @Kyle-uo5bg
      @Kyle-uo5bg 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I believe you are mistaken, "다 실수 하면서 크는 거잖아" -"크다" in that sentence isn't the adjective "big" but the verb "to grow (up)" (hence why it's 크는* which is a verb form). So the sentence would translate fairly straightforward to "we all make mistakes and grow up" or "we all make mistakes while growing up"

    • @chrismossy9774
      @chrismossy9774 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Kyle-uo5bg Yes, you are right. But when I watched that scene the first time, I didn't know that 크다 also means to "grow up". The textbooks usually say that "크다" means "big" and "자라다" is to "grow up". Thanks for clarifying this.
      As a speaker of English, it would feel more natural to say " 자라면서 실수 하는 거예요". So my point was also that one has to think like a Korean and not according to English grammar to understand sometimes.

    Self-learner here! I'm Level 2 right now. I've gotten in the habit of listening more even if I don't know the words. I'm at the stage where if I can identify a few words, I can get the just of what's being said. I like the challenge.

    I haven't got time to finish the whole video in one go but the fact that you provide subtitles in both Korea and English helps us learners a lot. These topics are interesting to listen to as well. ☺

If the Korean subtitles were raised up instead of right at the bottom it would be really nice!!! Oh wait, the English subtitles can be drag-and-dropped!

    How could I distinguish Korean and Japanese language when I listen to them?

    • @JungYonghwa1129
      @JungYonghwa1129 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe japanese has more syllable blocks, something like this:
      Sushi to mizu desu, kudasai
      Arigato
      Kakkoii sensei to yasashii hakusei
      And Korean has more combinations, like(this is how I think it sounds, no romanized):
      Ne, kurom jega hangugo peugo issoyo
      Igo jinjja shimshimhe!
      Ya, sukje hesso?
      Like Korean has more combinations and vowels, and japanese only has 5.
      I don't know if I explained that well but hope it helped 😅
