I never expected Imtiaz Ali to write such an insensitive scene. If a man vanishes without informing his partner, it means he just wanted sex, played with her emotions and is undeserving of love. It is awful how the writer made light of this situation and tried to normalise it.

So, the scene is telling that other girl has no self respect. And Anushka thought she could settle her matter in 20 dollar. I mean lets imagine the same scene happened with that woman should have happened with Anushka. This hero-heroine concept should be banned in Bollywood.

I agree. When she said that it caused me a lot of trouble, she did not mean financially it is definitely mental and emotional pain she would have gone through. This scene is cheap. The way Sejal is acting and brain washing that girl like Harry is not at fault over here at all. I am also a woman but this pseudo feminism is not welcome at an any cost. How is Harry going to return back the pain he has caused her. I know its a movie scene and all and we all should just watch it as a part of entertainment, but these are subtle signs and subliminal msgs in the movies that they put into is through all such scenes. So, he ghosted her, not cheated her. Still, that really hurts, I would say whether it is the guy who does the ghosting or the girl, it is just bad, it pains, it happened to me so I know what that suffering is like. If you are going to stop talking to someone, seeing someone, you are ending the relation then just PLEASE tell that person, so they are not left hanging and waiting.

Here anuska's character is perfect as a fuckin mistress/other woman....the way she justified his actions and explained 'legal offence' has blown my mind...the writer seems to have no sense of loyalty and creats reasons to believe that he/she may be adulterous in real life

People aren't mature they are more in the dumb spectrum. If you can't differentiate between real life and movies you have a problem. You'll love and adore movies and shows like gangs of wasseypur or Mirzapur and applaud the verbal abuses and crimes and adult scenes in that media. But not once will you say "oh no they are glorifying crime and abusing" as such. This scene is wrong on so many levels.
Firstly, trying to justify the indefensible act of cheating by giving 'legal' perspective and subtle messaging that 'boys will be boys', which is harmful for us both guys and girls in the long run.
Secondly, ghosting without even settling the issue with girl properly is shown as funny and we are supposed to feel empathetic towards SRK character.
Thirdly, attempt to declare her feelings and outburst as misplaced because his actions did not fit the 'legal' definition of wrongdoing and moreover doubling down on her , gaslighting her, saying what she is doing is harassment.
Fourthly, subtle depiction that as long as girl is 'white foreigner' this kind of behavior is acceptable because foreign girls are 'easy' and 'liberated' that way, which has been the trope since past many decades.
And then we wonder way we guys aren't able to differentiate between what is right and wrong behavior because our source of learning is bollywood which has been feeding us problematic stuff since our childhood.

While it is important to realize how problematic behavior like this can be, it's also equally significant to properly assess exactly what kind of relationship the two really had prior to their fallout.
She does mention that he "cheated" her, but I don't think it's wise to immediately assume that they were in a committed relationship, since she also admitted that she also "had fun" alongside him. Now, she could simply be referring to pleasure in the bedroom, but it could also *potentially* hint at the nature of their relationship (just merely being "fun"). The "cheating" she referring to simply could've been the fact that he ran away and she had to make a new key. Since it hasn't been explicitly stated that they were in a committed relationship, instead of drawing a single conclusion, we should draw two instead, to account for all possibilities:
1) If they really were in a *committed* relationship and Harry ran away from her without properly breaking things off with her, then obviously that's problematic behavior. It's scummy and extremely unfair to the German girl.
2) If they *weren't* in a committed relationship and were merely FWB (friends with benefits), then I don't think Harry has any obligation whatsoever to tell her if he's moving to another place. There's no commitment, emotional involvement, nor trickery involved here, just two adults making a decision for themselves and one choosing to opt to at his own leisure (which he's entitled to).
In this scene, Anuska is being jealous and possessive about Harry and ends up saying these things. Obviously, it can't be justified on any ground, but out of jealousy, we do many things which are not correct that's what is shown in the scene. Everything shown in a movie doesn't have to be justified or correct. We have our own thinking power to judge movie actions. The problem is today's youth gets greatly inspired by these things and tend to follow these.

She obviously took the relationship seriously or she wouldn't react that way. And he knew that he was doing something wrong, that is why he avoided Frankfurt for two years. The woman deserved a proper break up.
I loved this movie. Shah Rukh is wonderful.
I enjoyed this film too. I know that it didn't do well at the box office, but I think Shah Rukh's acting is one of his best roles. Nicely underplayed, none of his usual ott mannerisms, great delivery of lines, very very natural acting. Well done, Shah Rukh -- even if the public didn't like the film.
