Thanks to both you and Stephanie Canada for this very cool information. Just as an FYI, that isn't kimono shaped robe. Kimono are made from mostly rectangular pieces, notably including the arms. That looks more hanfu inspired, especially in the sleeves. That just means Han clothing, referring to the Han Chinese. They're both very beautiful and flattering cuts. I'd also recommend the Vietnamese ao dai in terms of silhouette and general style.
It’s easy to draft a hood for the cape and make it a cloak. I’ve made cloaks out of heavy denim, canvas or duck (iow tight weaves) to throw on in the rain. Add fake fur or polar fleece and you have a winter garment.
20:57 100% agree! Basically a sack but with booty bounce freedom. 😂 I’ll keep an eye out for the wrap skirt.👀 The kimono robe is absolutely perfect summer attire. Yes, let’s see the cape! 👏🏼 Those earmuffs are really cute! Why does that vest scarf look like a life jacket 😅
The bohemian style book as well as the one you have are available for me through inter-library loan. You might want to check with your local library to see if they have a copy or if they can request a copy for you through the inter-library loan program. Also, I thought it was interesting when you talked about the ponchos being in style in the 90's. I wore them in the 70's.
Mmmm… I checked with my library and they didn’t have it but I didn’t think about an inter-library loan!!! Thank you for that! I feel like Ponchos are one of the styles that always have a moment every decade, right?
I wonder if spaghetti vs macaroni is regional! I grew up in the midwest and have never heard it as macaroni straps! I'm going to survey my midwest friends - lol
I watch many sewing TH-camrs & can I just tell you…two days later @caitmakes made the exact same outfit you drafted from this book! 😂 & she said found the style off of Pinterest. Vintage patterns can be made to be stylish & modern again 🙌
Oh! I have a hard cover book with the same picture and author. I wonder if they’re the same? Will have to check when I get home next weekend! The little one is so cute.
Fun! Thanks for sharing. Some (a lot) of the language in these older printed materials are so insanely offensive and cringy… thank you for sharing and letting people know this was normal then but not ok now! And I love these glasses every time you wear them!
Hello and love your videos! And your pasterns! just starting your dress pattern now! What’s the name and author of that little book? I consider myself a miniature sleuth and love hunting out treasures. Keep those videos coming 😊!
I know this sounds stupid, but I'm struggling trying to figure out exactly where to measure myself for drafting patterns since I'm plus sized. Plus, my stomach is a weird shape. I know for looser fitting clothes, that doesn't matter. But what if I'm trying to make something that is more form fitting? For example, the simple "How long is your torso?" I have tried multiple methods and get all 3 results every time because I don't know what exactly to look for. The line drawing is easy because there's clear lines where things start/ end. Bodies don't have those
I want to be okay with "sewer" as a term I really do, I know it is acceptable, but I keep reading it like sewer, underground, like TMNT and I can't take it seriously lol
Tee-hee! I call myself a “seamstress“ or a “sewist.” I mean, this isn’t “Phantom of the Opera.” I’m not living in the sewers of Paris, playing a pipe-organ! 🤣
What patterns should we do sew a longs for?
All of the things!
The pinafore!!
The Kimono Robe
The gathered Neck Dress
The Cape
So glad that my book came in handy! But wait until I tell you I have 5 magazines with 1950's "draft your own" patterns.
*GASP*
@@StephanieCanada tutorials please

Whew! I managed to like and share before you started looking at the book.
So, when is the PDF going to drop for the rest of us? ;)

@@AaronicaBColeCo So true.
Shout out from Southside (McDonough). I'm glad your channel popped up in my feed. I guess because I've been binge watching Stephanie 😂
I’ve made a hooded scarf but that scarf vest is cool!
The hostess wrap and the sandwich board look like they are meant to be worn over clothes. Thank you for sharing these!
You are so welcome!
I had a pinafore on my list for the longest and don't know what happened after the mockup. I saw the hardcover version online but not this mini.

HAHAHAHA - one of my friends responded to hearing as macaroni with "that is wrong - it is not okay!" I did not expect such a strong reaction!

@@sewingintrifocals-alisonde7778 well, now I want to just be over the top extra when I sew just to commit to this specific bit
I have wanted to make a chatelaine or sewing apron for a while. Let's do it
Say less boo
Mine are now 28 and 31. It creeps up on you.
Have you tried checking at the library?
I have! No luck so far
