Bob's Entertainment Area: The area has grown to cater to the students at the university. There's some low cost mid rise accommodation, a few houses continuing from the previous suburb (which are run down and filled with bloody students) and beside these are a club and music venue. The venue was once the towns pride and joy and now is a bit run down and financially struggling, holds regular gigs for shitty indie bands and the occasional mid size touring act. It also hosts the annual Christmas production from the Oil Drillers Families Association -a horror show of small children and weird old ladies screaming and singing, was much better before automation started to take drillers jobs and thus shrunk the once proud association to a membership comprised of those still clinging on Beside the venue is a club, unlike the live music venue the club is triving, its RnB night attracts a lot of your students shaking their booty - and a certain type of middle aged male from the wider community, yeah creepy as f@^%... but profitable as. There's also a hip hop night and the weekends are reserved for EDM - occasionally the underground collective of perennial students and dropout host a minimal techno night, you'll find me there then, drinking heavily and nodding my head. In front of the club is an open paved area where food trucks and a pop up fast food bar operate on gig/club days/nights. On the other side of the venue is a small commercial/office building, I wouldn't be surprised if the university buys this at some point and adds a international language school to cater to offshore students and charge them way to much to subsidise the Chancellors pet subject, Dendrology. Its pretty souless but as it only operates during the day the noise from the venue and club doesn't cause any problems. The last building is a crappy fast food joint - students had canvassed for a healthy food option but the chancellor loves him a burger and thus granted use of the land to a fast food franchise - the fact that the local franchisee is his brother in law is a coincidence.
Going from my own experience, I've run the game in 1080, and I've run it in 4k internally downscaled to 1080 using a mod. The downscaled version definitely looked better.
This reminds me of an area next to my College lol. It’s a park with tennis courts and some apartments where a lot of students live and behind that is a bar and a burger joint. Very realistic. Absolutely love the the garden station! Really inspiring design in this city.
i really love this series because you are not only focussing on making the city look nice with a little amount of mods but also focussing on a functional city
I really love this city, and I can’t wait to see it fill out with the downtown. The size of the city just seems so much more approachable for building. Also, can’t believe it’s been two years! They go by so fast. I don’t know how long I’ve been around but I’ve enjoyed the whole time.
One of my fondest memories pf traveling along the East Hills Line in Sydney during the Eighties was the pride that some station managers put into their station gardens. The Fernery that ran along the western wall of Redfern station was always a highlight. Garden Station is definitely a believable addition to your city.
Hey $2.20, love your work. When you mentioned the garden stop the 1st thing I thought of was Florida Gardens which is a light train stop on the gold coast... Would love to see it named that! From Brissy
this is honestly the loveliest build you've ever done it's so comfy, I would totally live there I can't wait to see the whole map functioning like a real city/region
For the light rail I would suggest deciding where the airport will go, and maybe some sort of outlying office park or something, routing it there, plus any sports stadiums etc. in the area of downtown, and keeping it limited to just that. Also I'd recommend you check out the 16th street mall in Denver, CO on Google Maps. It's a walkway/bus only shopping stretch in the downtown area and really cool. I'd say the outlying areas suburbs etc. should use buses.
Continue to enjoy this series, man. As soon as it pops up on TH-cam I click "watch later" and it's one of the first I watch when I have a moment. Also, finally decided to jump into your Discord server. Hope to share some of my work with your community! Keep on being awesome--you're a huge inspiration.
A mod called "elevated stop enabler" makes you able to add stops on bridges. And you should up the speed limit on the tram rails inbetween the highway.
That thing you said about the former dock that nowadays is used for other purposes reminded me a lot of Puerto Madera, Buenos Aires, Argentina. It used to be one of the main docks of the country and province but nowadays there's a lot of office building and kinda like a high-income residential space and and touristic place too.
I really like how the city is looking so far. But I’d really like to see a nice big park. It doesn’t need to be in the downtown but it would be like to have some greenspace.
I wish you had shown us a short timelapse of the station builds instead of the cuts, they are by far the most interesting an detailed build in this episode. The city is turning out great so far!
Loving this city, I really enjoy watching people from different parts of the world build in Cities Skylines and seeing how they see a city should be built based on their influences. I live in the UK and lived in some major cities which influences my builds a lot. I've recently moved to a small town that really picked up during the industrial revolution, but the steep valley sides from three valleys stopped it from expanding, so within a very short walk you are suddenly in the middle of nowhere. I'm hoping to build something influenced by this area soon. Anyway keep up the good work, I love your builds.
$2.20 I would love to see the light rail run along the outer side of the promenade making the waterfront very active... Love what your doing man keep it up
Well really, you dont need the best city to play the game, but then you cant have many mods & assets, you cant have high graphics and you will have low fps. And even lower if you build a big city
Really enjoyed this build. I think you should put a path leading to some type of underground building for the tram stop with the billboards. I also would suggest using some type of pillar or connector that would represent the stair wells for the garden tram stop. The stops look great but I think thi8s would make them look complete.
i love how he said that he wouldn’t be using a lot of mods but from watching this series multiple times it becomes one of his most modded series ever 😭

I don't know know how relevant this is to you, but shouldn't there be a fence or a wall to prevent balls from flying from the baseball field into some cars windshield driving on the highway? :D End maybe you could increase the speed of the tram during passing the interchange, so it's even more an expresse way?
i like the idea for the light rail. but i don't think it should loop in the suburbs because normally they come to an end in the suburbs. and you can do some cool termini.
The Wharf: www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.1416673,144.3621732,409m/data=!3m1!1e3 In Geelong this pier/wharf use to be a cargo pier for wool, it has some old Tram/Light Rail tracks still in it and a few restaurants at the end, this would fit perfectly with the light rail system that is already in the city!
Great episode! Gotta love painter mod for making a bunch of kitbashed buildings look like one. I like the tram work so far, especially Garden Station. It's one of the most realistic feeling elements of the city so far, I think. I was a bit sad when you hopped off the camera tram ride, I think it'd be fun to follow one the whole way! Maybe when the network is done? Regarding the expansion, I'm concerned running a line between the Belmont suburbs and the hills might be a bit much. The cims would probably appreciate it, but my experience with most American cities is that the suburbs are usually served by one line at most. I think it might feel a little more appropriate to have buses servicing Belmont and Chester Hill to take people from home to train. I haven't visited many Californian cities though, so maybe they have more rail service than I'm used to.
Thank you! I’ll definitely be doing a train ride once the cities most done :) good point about the train stops. Maybe I’ll just keep the loop running across the beachfront but not around the other suburbs. I’ll be playing around with the layout over the next few eps.
Hey, please make sure all highway offramps connecting to traffic lights are 2 lanes (or more!) One lane only is very ineficcent because all traffic has to queue back to back instead of next to each other with turning lanes + it doesn't look great because it's unrealistic and just doesn't make a lot of sense :p

This reminds me of a midwestern city like Cincinnati, Columbus, or Indianapolis.

And really, the only major issue I have is with the first person camera. It's choppy and laggy as hell, but that's been my only gripe.
