I see a rheumatologist regularly for the last few years, and my doctor has NEVER needed to do a breast, pelvic, or rectal exam for ANY REASON. The only time clothing was partially removed was for a steroid injection into my SI joint which required me to lower the waist band on my pants. That’s it. This is absolutely insane.

A similar thing happened to me in 1969 when I was 18. I was in excruciating pain with an ear ache.I was new to the city and didn't have a doctor, so my dad sent me to his. Before he checked my ear he told me he had to give me a vaginal exam. I was in so much pain I allowed him to do it. I left feeling confused but with a prescription for an antibiotic. I never told anyone for many, many years.

To that end, they need to know if the hair loss is happening all over your body (globally) or in one area of your body (locally). Trust your doctor. They are probably intelligent enough to realize that their husbands are medical experts who are specialized in female reproductive organs. A medical exam is NOT a se xual act. I’ve never seen a male gynecologist who hasn’t brought in a female nurse in the room for me during the exam. It’s not even something I’ve had to ask for, it’s routine.
I’m a physician. ALL patients have the right to decline any exam if they feel uncomfortable and should NEVER feel pressured. A trained chaperone should be present 💐🩺🔬🩻
