  • Join me on an exciting adventure as I spend the day with my good friend Karl Rasmussen, known for his appearances on Deadliest Catch. We'll be exploring his incredible flock of Indio Gigante, truly giant chickens that are nothing short of amazing! Additionally, you'll get to meet my long-time companion, Bumble Bee, and the delightful offspring of John and Joanne, none other than the spirited Drax! It's a day filled with thrills and cherished moments, and I'm absolutely thrilled to share this experience with you!

    Grandpa used to put bug zappers out over his ponds with the bottoms removed. The bugs get zapped and fall to the surface to be consumed by the fish. They'd eat like piranhas.

    I'm in Ohio. We have a pond in the back yard that has grass carp put into the pond when they dug it. Those bad boys are HUGE now.

    Excited when he started talking about the Ayam cemani.
    I'd love to be able to play with those genes. They still aren't a cheap bird, I remember about 10 years ago a breeding pair was going for 2k.

    Those chickens are super cool. I had four of the elites and they are like fuggin dinosaurs. But when they are tame super sweet. Mine would follow me around like Chris Pratt.

    Something some friends I know do to protect their chickens from hawks is hand raise some crows and then keeping them in a chicken run similar to what Kal has and after they fledge then a few months later just open the door in the day and train them to come back inside at night.
    They're very alert and when they spot birds of prey actively mob then until they leave and have been very effective at keeping them away.
    Only negative is they will eat eggs laid out in the open and chicks if you let the hen raise them (obviously not a problem if you incubate and raise them separately).

    Hi Jerry Very nice video. Great idea to have a red foot tortoise in your monitor enclosures to keep the grass short to stop the mosquitoes. Now you know what to use to keep your mosquito control. He has a very nice black throat monitor. The Acki monitor are a nice size. It us so nice that his family has a variety of reptilrs. Those baby chicks are really large. Cindy

    #wolfesWorld love the update on drax and visting a local friend. as far as chickens are concern: Roosters need at least 4 hens or 4 different hens per rooster. the reason being,is cause he needs to have a variety to mate with. if not, he can possibly kill her and stress her out from the constant mating just..her. Theres alot of studies done on this fact. most roosters, need another male or two in an enclosure, away from them or morseso somewhat upclose not to scare him but to induce heighten combat for increasing testostrone. Especially if you want to keep your older prize rooster in tip top shape for future breeding or his last breeding cycle..truth but an ugly truth none the least. be warned though, if an younger or more mature hen doesnt feel her rooster or younger mature rooster isnt up to per to breed, she possibly combat him as well and beat him to a pulp(worse case kill him) younger roosters,however this from my experience and this isnt for every situation but might need an older more docile or lenient rooster to show and protect him from hawks(male geese are great defenders amongst hawks as well,and will warn you way before the roosters would)

    Awesome episode as always!! Still think you should def get a male African Bullfrog & raise it up! Would be super cool addition to the channel & something different that isnt super expensive or hard to keep!

    • @susanelezebeth

    • @C-24-Brandan
      @C-24-Brandan ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@susanelezebeth I don't think a bullfrog is more expensive than monitor lizards lol ... Paul has turtles and a chameleon, so a bullfrog wouldn't surprise me with those but def not close to one monitor nvm how many he has.

    • @jebVlogs556
      @jebVlogs556 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@C-24-Brandan lol facts haha american or south american bullfrogs arent expensive. the russian,african and chinese/japanese ones are very pricey though(most of them are from captive breeders or fish mrkets through vast trading.. depending the quality over quantity..only thing the bullfrog would compete with is the hawks,herons water snakes..buts thats it..

    • @C-24-Brandan
      @C-24-Brandan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jebVlogs556 yeah I meant adding a nice male African Bullfrog to his collection not being expensive compared to his monitors esp the albino & black dragons when it comes to the cost of the actual animal, food, housing & daily care. I think they're super cool & underrated, they're fun to feed & watch eat/hunt and when they're full grown make really fun and good pets. I think Jerry would probably get into frogs if he got a African Bullfrog & explored other bullfrog localities and types & then the pixie/pac man frogs are super cool as well. There are some cool toad species as well!

    Jerry maybe a silly question ore suggestion but are a large chicken penn something for you? That way you have eggs again and maybe even chicken to feed the monitor's for the babies you can have a cockroach colonie to feed.
